Excellent report and pics Cliff!!! I sure enjoyed my day Big Cliff and Sue are just the greatest hosts...I wasn't there for very long and Don and I were headed out on the lake in Big Cliffs boat! Just said here ya go. Wow! Thanks again for that and an excellent meal Was great to see and talk to everyone there...Sydney is such an entertainer! Next time I wish for sunny skies and be able to bring the boat up. Couldn't ask for a nicer group of folks!

Anyone ever see a Pike Scissor style lure? I have and I would not want that hooked into me Some folks are way past help when it comes to this subject. Not to hijack this thread but here is an example of this kind of logic... Was fishing Pigeon a while back and doing well and was keeping an eye on a rental house boat approaching. They came close enough for a conversation and asked about the area and species and locations. I was nice and gave a pointer a mile up the lake away from me. They proceeded to stay right on top of me long after the conversation was over. Fish on or not I was outta there.

8 active rods/reels. Got a bunch of fibreglass that are old/retired along with a bunch of old Mitchell reels. You just can't kill a Mitchell reel Some old steel/trout stuff and ice fishing set ups. Still remember my first Mitchell reel brand new in the box OMG almost 30 years ago My prized Eagle Claw rod is Officially retired and in a safe place on display. As far as tackle goes the current "box" for the boat has 54 crankbaits. Just counted Tons more stuff old and not used. I am sure some other members here have a good "antique" collection. Tangled Lines got me a nice display case couple years ago for a few items. Don't ask me about soft plastics

Sounds like you had quite the workout. Great spot to be though! Excellent report and pics thanks!

It is one of my "go to" crankbaits on a partly overcast dark and windy day. Got lots of bass on it. Was suprised the first walleye nailed it hard. This is a pic from 2007. Look at how small the bass is. This lure drives 'em nutz The other pic shows a new patern Rapala Tail Dancer in "bleeding olive". Got it this past winter. Here is a good pic of it from today: I like changing up especially when you keep working the same water.

No Sir! More fun to catch lots of frisky fighters than spend 8 hours and catch one big fish.

OK after a totally crappy Sunday I couldn't wait to get on Pigeon today. 8 AM start and the weather looked good Opened her up and I was on the first bass spot south end of Pigeon in 30 minutes I said I was gonna burn gas. Very quiet on the water only one or two boats out. No luck at the first spot so I decided to try a new spot. 10 FOW on a weedline. Wind was going just the right way so I tossed out the driftsock. After a couple of minutes got this nice bass. After that it was more smaller bass, a crap load of perch and then came Wally. Let that one go cast again and whammo. Got another one similar size. Lost a bigger one right at the boat Next up to my suprise was a Rock Bass on a large spinner. Kept changing up lures and techniques to make it more interesting. I must have made the same pass 8 times over the same line. A few more bass and then all the action stopped dead with a major shift in the wind. I tried some other spots but only got some taps. Good enough for me. Was a great day despite the heavy wind and I didn't get rainned on. Here is a couple more bass from today. I may head back to Pigeon tomorrow and try again. :Gonefishing:I got a full tank ready to go

Wonder if this something last minute...yellow poly rope holding it on. Maybe lost a bet? Was part of the Top Bass Tourney.

OK saw this today parked on the causeway in Bridgenorth...GIT R DONE! HAHAHA! How's that for safe and legal on our roadways?
-
Thanks for the good replies everyone I will be calling tomorrow and get pricing.

Anyone have a recommendation as to who would be good to use in the Kawartha area? Thanks.

OK slept in late this am...oops. Hit the water at noon. Chemong was not too busy even with the Top Bass Tourney going on. No luck on Chemong so off I went to Buckhorn Lake. Hit my usual spots. Got some small bass and a bunch of perch. Switched up the lures; yay stink bait! I managed this beauty smallie on a Senko rigged Carolina style. She put up one heck of a fight. Went deep into the weeds but I managed to horse her outta there. Weighed in at just shy of 3 pounds. Eighteen inches in length. What a fattie! I tried reviving her but had no luck. The fight was too much. She is currently in my freezer. Probably get Her mounted as she has beauty colours. So back to fishing. More perch and small bass. Moved on to another part of the lake. Had to be twenty or so boats all doing the drift sock thing. Put on the new this year Rapala X Rap Shad Rap and within three casts got this nice Walleye. Weighed in at just over a pound. Sucessfully released The weather started getting rough so I called it a day. Was a great afternoon even with the Gore-Tex on a couple times. Just some light showers. Heading back out tomorrow. Hey She qualifes for an OFAH Angler Award! Two bonus inches coming up for Team 8 TangledAnglers!

Was out for a couple hours this evening on Chemong for some bass action. I didn't get out yesterday due to mechanical problems with my wheels...new starter motor for the buggy. So much for putting the tools away for a week. The lake was hammered today with dozens of people doing a pre-fish for the two day tourney that starts tomorrow off the causeway. I still managed to hook four bass. Lost a biggie right at the boat. The last one I caught was odd. It had something sticking out of it when I picked it up. As I was hanging onto it and bringing it over the side of the boat something popped out of its uh um rear end Now I have seen bass barf up a lot of things over the years but never the remains of a crawfish outta the backside Heres the fish. Boy that must have hurt! Heading out tomorrow. Probably head for Pigeon and stay away from those tourney people.

The north end of the lake is quieter compared to the causeway area on weekends/holidays. The south end of the lake is shallow and very weedy and is not big boat friendly so I tend to stay outta there. There is good fishing and boating up on the north end provided you have an up to date chart as there are some hazards there not marked...specifically shoals. Its not far to run to Buckhorn lake from Chemong so thats an easy option as well depending on your boat speed and your wallet I put 80 bucks in yesterday to fill mine from the half mark. Mind you I can go a long way on a full tank. I tend to keep it topped up. If there is anything else you would like to know please ask and I would be more than happy to answer.

Chemong is a good lake. My boats there. It can be very hectic on weekends and holidays with heavy boat traffic but its easy to get away from all that if your willing to travel a bit.

Was a good time for sure You doing the trailer park thing up here this weekend?

Well first day of holiday and I said I was gonna burn some gas. Left Bridgenorth and ran up to Pigeon Lake Big Island looking for Musky as the conditions were perfect. Despite the rough surface, heavy winds and cloud cover no luck at three spots. Headed into Little Bald and Big Bald Lakes. First swim '08 in Big Bald far north end as the fishing was slow there. Water temp was an exciting 76F. Sure woke up after that. Back to Little Bald for some Bass...skunked. At this time the wind was really getting bad. Head back across the top of Pigeon and the waves were two feet. More fishing in the back channel got some perch nothing thrilling. The wind seemed to calm down or so I thought...was another rough trip back south across Pigeon. Hit my Buckhorn Bass spots and hooked in. Everything I have been catching is in the 13 to 14 inch range. Heading out again tomorrow afternoon!

Packing up the tools. Parking the rig. Turning the pager off. Hey wait thats Tuesday Holiday Time One weeks holiday burning gas and catchin bass I can't wait. Anytime I am loading the truck to go fishing makes me happy

Last summer on upper Buckhorn, Pigeon and Chemong Lakes I did not swim during the carp die off. A coroner docks his boat at our marina and I asked is the water safe to be in... the good doctors reply was if your healthy and keep it outta your eyes, ears etc. you wont have a problem. There is this commercial parasailing outfit on Chemong and Tangled Lines and I watched as they "dodged the carp" on take off and landing. A truly miserable experience. As far as a two week clear up forget it. The smell was unbearable. Was worth the extra gas to drive up to Big Bald lake for a day or multiple days and swim/fish there. Very clean, no dead carp and great scenery.

Was talking to a pro tourney guy who lives in Lakefield and fished Katchewanooka... was doing a pre-fish for a bass tourney for this weekend. Hundreds of dead carp are turning up in the marsh and reeds. He counted eighteen dead carp stacked up in heaps in places. Given whats going on everywhere else is it just a mater of time before everything on the Trent system is affected? I will not be impressed if we have to dodge the carp with the boat again this summer on the tri-lakes!
-
Tangled Lines and I will be there. We had a great time helping out even if it was freezing cold. Now if I can only convince her to let me bring the boat that is another story Been itching to try your lake.

Washroom accomodation for female passengers on your boat?
JeffBornFishin replied to Victor's topic in General Discussion
Got a nice clean washroom at our marina...and a fast enough boat! No complaints from TangledLines yet well maybe that real rough trip back from Buckhorn last summer -
Well done Holdfast! I declined the SRR option when I left the CF in 1992. Wonder how much the program has changed since that time. I was told you keep your kit, could be activated at any time, one full week training/exercise a year and something once a month. Your experience will be a big benefit for the Regiment. Where does the time go eh?

Picked up a 36 inch two weeks ago... best purchase for the boat in some time. Slows it right down. This past Sunday with the wind direction I was able to get over weededges perfectly. Light bite still. Winds too strong today hoping for tomorrow after work as the weekend sounds like a write-off. I tie it to the stern on a five foot length of rode as the instructions read and it works great. Have a heavy fibreglass boat so you may be able to get away with a smaller diameter sock Cliff for your tinny. Hey when are you coming up to give the tri-lakes a shot?
