  1. Nice job hank. Glad you guys had a good week.
  2. Anyone still got their gear ready to go for the Thanksgiving weekend. Ill be trying for some fall muskies and SMB.
  3. Bay of Quinte is supposed to have monster walleye, pretty far from you though.
  4. you can air bnb any lake with lots of cottages. www.airbnb.com pick any lake you want, there will be a cottage on it. Kawarthas have lots of walleye.
  5. The motor was off when it happened. But I did check it for line. I think it just got cut on the prop. 80lb braid too.
  6. Ya absolutely. He reeled to the boat quickly but wasn't tired. And when he was at the side of the boat took a dive under the boat and went out the back and then to the side wrapping the line around the motor. I tried to control my rod tip to avoid it but I'm in a little boat at the back. It definetly happened really quickly. I will be much more aware of that possibility in the future.
  7. happened to me on Sunday, caught the musky in my avatar! along with a bunch of smallies.
  8. thanks for the replies guys, makes me feel better. Would hate to be the demise of an awesome fish.
  9. never liked the Markham location.....found the help unhelpful and the selection okay.
  10. It was a musky spinner. A Vibrax inline double hook. I thought the hooks rusting out thing was a myth?
  11. Hooked a large musky the other day and got it to the boat and it decided to go for a good run under the boat, behind the boat, under the motor and around it. Couldnt control the direction of the fish, and the line got caught on the prop and broke (80lb line). It was a good size spinner and was wondering what the chance of its survival is? These musky hooks probably never rust out, and probably dont fall out on their own. Could the fish live with a large hook and lure in its mouth? Felt pretty bad when it happened.
  12. where'd you move? still in Lindsay?
  13. nice. what were the fish on the sonar?
  14. Just one unit. How useful is the SI? Ive seen it online but cant determine its usefulness for me. These are the three im thinking about: http://www.basspro.com/Lowrance-Hook7-Fishfinder/Chartplotter/product/2258405/ http://www.basspro.com/Garmin-Striker-7-SV-Fishfinder/product/1509231248/ http://www.basspro.com/Humminbird-HELIX-7-DI-GPS-Fishfinder-and-Chartplotter/product/1506251145/
  15. any comparison between the helix 7 and elite 7? or hook 7?
  16. Of course, I was trying to stay mid range. Somewhere $500-$700. Not looking at anything over $1000 really.
  17. Ill be in the market for one of these over the winter coming into spring for next year. Wondering any recommendations for what to look for. There is a ton of models at Bass Pro ranging wildly in price.
  18. No......to clear coat my boat. It's a fishing forum lol.
  19. http://tremclad.ca/oil-based-rust-paint/rust-paint/254917 Its on their website, but i've never seen in it any stores that sell Tremclad. Can you order specific tremclad products from Canadian tire or Lowes?
  20. Thanks for the awesome reply. Im not sure how wide the boat is, but it is 12' long. I stand in the boat as it is now front or back with no issues, even with waves or wake. ive stood on the front seat before and havent felt unsafe. I would probably not feel super safe in any good chop.
  21. Ya right now the fuel is in the middle and battery at the back. I don't know how I'm going to move the battery. I have a transom trolling motor and the cable on those things is really short
  22. Thanks Dan. Ya I had no intentions on removing the seats I know they have structural integrity. My plan was essentially that to add a deck the height of the seat.
  23. Looking at a winter project, I've seen some mods online where people add floors, casting decks, live wells, etc to their aluminum boats. I was wondering if anyone here has done anything like that. I've read a lot of replies saying it makes the boat unstable and isn't recommended, but I also see a lot of people doing the mods anyways. I know you shouldn't remove the seats as they offer structural support. But I wouldn't mind a casting deck up front and maybe a floor at the back for storage of the battery.
  24. Most of Sturgeon is weeds, theres a massive area north of the river that is between 4-10feet and is all weeds. The weeds dont really dissappear until past the buoys much further north.
  25. I have the Navionics phone app, and noticed there are two modes: naivonics and sonar+. I notice both maps are completely different from one another. For example in the navionics version in the middle of Sturgeon it shows a depth of around 10feet, but the sonar+ version shows the complete opposite and shows it as a 1 foot deep hump.
