  1. All of this is in the original post... Its Lake Sturgeon, and targeting LMB.
  2. It was in the title....bass. Thanks for the other replies guys. I dont have sonar, just navionics on my phone, so I can only just tell if Im in certain areas, but thats it.
  3. Okay, so slow presentation works as well in the open deeper water. I was thinking it need a moving bait since there's a lot more area to cover.
  4. Recently added a good motor to our aluminum boat so we can head to the main lake of Sturgeon, but felt relatively clueless on the main lake as all Ive ever really fished is the river, and it didnt seem to really transfer well. We tried fishing the weed edge around 10ft, but had zero luck both Saturday and Sunday. Normally in the river we would fish soft plastics and do fairly well (its the only spot we caught fish on the weekend). But it didnt do well at all on the main lake. Perhaps we werent in the right spots, or just the lures werent meant for the open water deeper depths. Just looking for some suggestions on lures, presentations, maybe depths. I know people are fussy at giving to much away here, just looking to be put in the right direction.
  5. The guy was barely holding onto the rod, no wonder it ripped right out of his hand. I love the "that was a musky?!"..."yeah that was a musky" lol.
  6. Trying to find a cover for the boat while its docked. Most covers seem to have straps on them for travelling. Just trying to find one that has an elastic to it.
  7. I bought a new motor. Im curious about preventive maintenance so the motor lasts me a long time.
  8. Thanks for all the replies guys. How much seafoam is everyone adding to a 5 gallon tank?
  9. Ive used it on my lawn mower, I didnt find it did anything. My lawn mower doesnt run the greatest anymore, so I tried to help it out with some seafoam, but I found it made no difference. I even sprayed it in the intake while it was running, got those nice clouds of smoke.
  10. Which gas stations sell no ethanol? Shell?
  11. I was able to locate a good price on a newer 4 stroke 9.9. I was wondering if you guys use any fuel additives for your 4 strokes.
  12. Ya Ive taken the motor home. Its in the garage now, small motor repair is foreign to me, but I'm willing to try and fix it so its not lost.
  13. Why would anyone want to steal taxidermy, I would think that its virtually worthless aside from the person whose trophy it is.
  14. Saw a floating musky last weekend on Sturgeon. No boat marks on it, figured it was a poor release. Sad to see. Tried to revive it but it was to late.
  15. Thanks Cliff, I know your busy with the move. Dan its hard for me to see them in person, I live in York Region and its about 110km away. Lindsay is our cottage. They have called me since and let me know the cost of replacing the spring, which was $200 to change the spring and than from there they'd have to see what else is wrong. im on the fence of fixing the motor or trying to buy a new one. I can see Im looking at $500~ +/- to fix it at a marina (ugh), and a newer motor is going to be $1500 and up. A new 6HP can be found for $1500~.
  16. 6hp 1970s Johnson. He let me know it would cost $200 just to replace the spring. And that's not even looking at what else is wrong. Looka like Im going to eat this one. Kijiji buyer beware I suppose.
  17. It's more than the start spring. The engine doesn't run when in gear. It just shuts off. There's a few things wrong.
  18. Well I broke the starter spring. I think it needs a mechanic to fix
  19. So I dropped my little outboard off at the mechanics on trent last Sunday the 31st(10 days ago now). They said they should have the parts by last Thursday the 4th, and will call me to let me know the cost of repair. I called them Friday the 5th, no answer, left a voicemail. No returned phone call. I called again Monday the 8th, again no answer. I called again Tuesday and spoke to the Marina and left a message with the Marina (again no returned phone call). I called again today and finally spoke with someone, and the gentleman on the phone said they havent even looked at it yet and didnt even know if the parts had come in or not, and had zero timeline for completion. Should I be a little disappointed at this level of service? They say they will call on Thursday 4th and never do call, and don't return two of my phone calls. And a week later they haven't even looked at. I told the guy when I dropped it off I wasn't in a mad rush, but I didn't mean take the rest of August to finish it.
  20. Ya I found the Pline fragile, maybe because its 8lb. I was only using the leader with finesse style stuff and walleyes and muskies seem to like anything and have been eating our finesse baits as well. Had a few line breaks from toothy critters.
  21. Ah okay, yes you are correct. I didn't want to blow the bank which is why I went with this model. Just the last few replies left me wondering.
  22. Hmmm, guys arent making me feel to confident with my purchase now. The help at BassPro is very poor so its tough to choose when at the counter when the guy behind the counter really doesnt know. What is a better option at the $150 price point? Some of the reels you guys are mentioning are closer to $300 new.
  23. Thanks guys! I had 8lb Pline and felt it was a little fragile.
  24. Just wondering what the board consensus is on fluoro brand for leaders and what lb test most prefer. It would be matched with 20lb braided lines for bass fishing.
  25. I didnt like the button on the C3 which is the same price. The C4 is higher in price, and didnt seem to offer more when I was looking at it. After that it goes way up in prices. The guy at bass pro (well it seems everyone there) doesnt actually know a lot about fishing and fishing gear. He recommended 20lb braid for musky fishing should be fine. I liked the Abu Winch which is more a bass style reel but the guy didnt know enough for me to be confident in buying it and it working for musky.
