  1. Nicely done Mike! Your work desk has so many things that I'd like to have! lol
  2. Sweet! You're proving more of a point as to me fishing too deep last time I tried for lake trout. I was in 60 - 90FOW.
  3. The weeds are goin to be rare. Try a topwater near shore and most likely you'll avoid the Rockies. Pike I never get consistently, and are more incidental for me at this time of year
  4. Almost any water along the shoreline will cough up a few smallies. Find points and humps, throw spooks, jerkbaits, and dropshots. If these fail, try a wacky rig. Even my mom can catch smallies with a 4" wacky rig.
  5. To be honest, I don't like this charger one bit. Reads "Low" the whole time while you're charging it (Even if you put a battery with 70% it still reads low). Doesn't know when to stop charging batteries. Cooked 2 batteries in the last little while because of that.
  6. Tracer worked great for me. Not sure why tracer feels softer compared to the fireline braid. Fireline Braid on the other hand, has given me quite a bit of trouble... It sometimes decides to knot up into a huge ball that I can undo(Only on a spinning reel - feels almost like line twist), but not a fun experience when you're trying to catch fish. Just my opinion...I used tracer about 2 years ago and was really happy with it, but am dealing with 30 and 50# fireline braid right now. Not so bad with baitcasters though.
  7. Too bad you're left handed - When you get bored of your 2012 reels and get reels for 2013, I would have taken some of them from you! lol. Super nice reels btw.
  8. Sweet! I myself went for some lakers over the weekend and got them between 60-90FOW. Thanks for explaining your water as well too! The lake I was on I didn't find any honey holes like yours, but we were fishing plastics dragged and hopped along the break. Here's one of my buddies holding the best of the weekend ~25". Only got 4, of which 3 of them were like 12") 35FOW seems so shallow for the dead of summer, great on you! I'll have to see next time I go up to see if I can find them that shallow as well. EDIT: When filleting the laker, I found a couple rock bass in its stomach, so I guess it makes sense that they'll go really shallow for a while to feed.
  9. Didn't you guys watch River Monsters? The locals of wherever named them the "Ball Cutter"
  10. My bass season has been pretty bad lately. Glad to see you doing well boys!
  11. Don't know if you've got anything of too much value, but it is pretty cool to see the old packaging! I believe seeing one of those bags at my house before. Come to think about it though, I don't think powerbait has changed their formula in a long long time... They still smell the same! Have fun with them Mike!
  12. Strike King Bottom Dweller has been great! Honestly though, 3/4 to 1oz spinners are ok to use once you're fishing about 10FOW. As for good spinnerbaits, the KoManChi one is decent, looks great in the water and caught me a few fish. Only problem is that it used to be a double willow until a pike destroyed the secondary blade. The bait still works, and I still throw it once in a while. If not, I also liked the old terminator T1's with a single colorado blade. If you're not looking to drop a ton of coin for spinnerbaits, I guess almost all of the strike king spinnerbaits are decent.
  13. Glad to see a fishing report from you! As always, beauts!
  14. Glad to hear you like it! Now I'm pretty disappointed that I got a zillion and although it casts nice, it SUCKS at pitching...
  15. Well, first off, congrats on getting a new inflatable! I've had some experiences with them, and you'll have a great time with it in back bays and smaller lakes. The floor is almost a must, without it you won't be able to stand on it. A trolling motor would be next on the list so you can fish more efficiently. During the cleanup process, it's not the boards that are dirtiest, but the body of the inflatable being wet and attracting any sand / soil it touches. Make sure you have the bag that holds it, or something to cover your seats or trunk. Good luck with it!
  16. Hm.. I just remember learning bananas and mosquitoes from somewhere a long time ago... It's just that I seem to be extra attractive to mosquitoes compared to previous years. Thermacell I actually already own one...Won't be useful when I'm fishing, and if I use that at the launch, it'll be just about starting to repel the bugs when I'm ready to get on the water. fishburn, smoke is definitely useful, let's just hope my partner smokes more this weekend !
  17. I think people fail to realize that this technique was most successful at targetting deeper suspended bass... Not to say that it will be the only application... I'd say that the guys that love fishing matted cover more than anything(Myself included) will have a lot of learning to do before throwing it at a tourney.
  18. I'm not sure I'd care too much for catching fish out of a swimming pool, But it'd be an awesome place to go practice throwing other baits though..
  19. Lemon Garlic.... Sounds pretty damn good to me! BTW Vic, what's going on for your bass opener?
  20. If shipping from the states, the only way to get out of it is getting the "UPS World Saver" method of shipping. Where I'm paying for it - it has always been $15 shipping and 13% HST when the product arrives at your door. The best part about it is that it arrives the next business day if you order early enough during the day!
  21. Well I'll stop eating them starting today... But is there something to make it go away quicker because I'll be out with the bugs all day starting Saturday, probably Sunday as well.
  22. Morning! Is anyone here in the Fedex / UPS / DHL businesss here? It just came to my mind as to why brokerage fees are so damn expensive... If you go downtown Toronto and look at any of these delivery trucks, there is almost always at least one, if not two parking tickets on the windshield already. Is there no way to ever solve this since our meter maids need money for the city of Toronto, so then it bills out to the delivery companies, which ultimately puts the bill on us? Comments and Thoughts?
  23. Top o' the Morning! Well, bass season is coming up soooooo super soon and I am extra excited this year to get on the lake and fish some frogs and jigs! That being said, it finally clicked as to why I am super attractive to mosquitoes this year. I had an internship at WFN for the last couple months, and every morning I brought a banana milkshake to snack on. Now when I'm outside with any of my friends, I am the first one to get targetted by mosquitoes - EVERY SINGLE TIME. Anyone know of a remedy to neutralize the effects of the bananas? LOL :w00t: Thanks guys.
  24. Nothing to really get worked over for, unless you did buy a couple different setups and tens of A-rigs. The A-rigs are new enough that not very many people would have used them for bass already... Were jigs & cranks not good enough before? They weren't outlawed for the pike tournaments we had at Balsam and Muskoka this year right? Jerkbaits are pretty good for pike too if you ask me.
  25. I would call it the most important piece of electronics on the boat. Sure, sonars are great, but your bait should be an even better fishfinder. The trolling motor rarely ever is off even when I'm on my canoe.
