There is some extra securities for first time buyers. If I didn't remember wrong, it's a photocopy of your credit card/driver's license sent to them via email. awesome people though. Like smallie said, they are LEGIT. Don't know if the shipping is the same, but it was $15 for shipping, + province taxes and the packages arrive the next day.(I got that deal in November) Shipping WAS 29.99 for next day last April. If you want to make sure, send them an email during the office hours, and they will reply most likely on the same day (if not, the day after). The prices are very fair, and here is a 10% discount code. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/promo/verify.html?coup=STIMULUS10 Don't work for them, I just really enjoy doing business with them, so I hope you guys get the same experience.

From what I read, it's the second saturday in May where it opens, so you should be good for this weekend. If someone knows that it's different, please correct me. If I'm right, I am going walleye fishing this weekend!

That's some good bass fishing there. I'm so jealous because We're still quite a ways from bass opener!

After browsing around on TV, I came across a commercial that looked very similar to the Rocket Fishing Rod! So OFC members, let's support them by buying one for the kids! THE NEW BOWROD WILL CHANGE YOUR FISHING!! https://www.spindirect.com/product_order.php?productid=16935&s=bowrod_can&refurl=bowrod.ca All joking aside, I really wonder how these people do it. Are there actually a whole bunch of people out there that really buy this junk?!

If you want to try something like that, I guess I'd wait for something else that opens in which you could troll for. It's similar to trying to get pike/muskie with a senko...Sure, they will hit....But trying that on a Kawartha lake after the first week of June, and I will for sure think you are trying to get some OOS bass. I've had a number of times where carp had taken a huge hit onto rapalas and other cranks, so I know it can be a truth.

Nah Mykester, You can't blame anyone or anything, especially when they're all naive and not aware. I bet you've thrown rocks into the water plenty of times when you were young. Sure is a lot of fun when the fish were slowing down! I say the worst enemy is a thunderstorm though..you can't even get on the water with that. All the other times, don't blame the fish, blame the yourself for not finding them

Jer, the fish pretty much were exactly where they should be, but may have been stacked about 50m further from shore. The fish weren't really sluggish, and were ready to take baits. Although the area consisted of 6-10FOW in most parts, the fish were readily taking baits 2.5 to 3 foot down. And Thanks for the comments guys!

Its been Three weeks into the softwater season, and I still haven't gotten into any good experiences out on the water with the fish! So today, Frozenfire and I head off to go find some with the canoe, only to come up completely blank with the fish. And to salvage our fishing trip, we decide to haul everything back and head off to another lake. The winds were howling, and by the time we got back to the launch we were completely frozen, but we ended up with 35 keepers, and released a bunch of fish to be caught another day. None were huge slabs, but boy were they fighting hard today!

Looks like they're checking scugog relatively often! I was checked maybe a couple weeks ago too. I notice that as much as the white bucket crowds exist at this time of the year, ***MOST**** of these people will probably go by the rules, as the temperatures aren't really comfortable for those that don't know/care about the rules to come out.

Nice! There probably isn't a better way to spend an afternoon than the way you did!
-
That bait looks mighty fine! Is it going to be an expensive one? Nice fish btw! I've been waiting for a while to use my lunker city heads again! Can't wait to use them once again tonight! (The fish earlier in the year wouldnt take jigs with such a big hook).

Theoretically, You want to find the lowest gear ratio in the casting reel(for power) and a rod with a moderate taper(for hooksets)... I find that although it may be the "best", I don't think I'm missing much by throwing a 7'MH - F rod with a 6.3 gear ratio reel..it's not like fish don't bite if your rod is too fast or your reel is too high a gear ratio. As for Daiwa, the cheapest one that contains specs like that is the Zillion Crazy Cranker, and I'm pretty sure you don't want to bust out $300 for it. Practically all of the cranking reels out there are expensive as ever. I say just find yourself a smooth reel for whatever budget you have....Should be more than enough...Daiwa Viento's are on sale right now... Oh yup, as for rods...the cheapest example I can think of would be an ugly stick..I don't like them, but they should do the job since they're glass(slow and whippy). You can move yourself up to the Loomis rods too if you decide you want to use that amount of cash too!

That's a lot of pike in that survey for Rice lake!

Kemper is right about it somewhat...I think I know the spot he is talking about, and last year's opener yielded maybe 10 people total, and I got to slam the crappie practically all to myself...This year, there's probably 30 people there every night. But hey, it's not like the bog is that much of a secret anyways. Sharing is great, and it wasn't like gps coords were given. And when you gentlemen find yourself a spot you'd like to keep secret, hide them like they're the stuff you usually keep under your bed!

This guide sure is greedy....Almost as much as the RLTA! Anyways, I say continue with the pictures! I for sure don't know where your pictures are from, but I enjoy those pictures much more than those that have swirly backgrounds and such!

Nice haul there! Nice to see a t-shirt fishing day by Good Friday!
-
Let's hope not. Lakeport is one of the nastiest beers that are 24 for 24 IMO. You should go give Brava a try.
-
Enjoyed that seminar very much also. Too bad I was in the back of the crowd and didn't get to see too much up close.
-
Good Luck with whatever you end up choosing.

Oh yup, And I wanted to ask this: Do you guys continue to use ice fishing sized jigs (size 8, 10, 12) with small baits when the ice just melts? Or are you guys already using normal sized jigs by then?
-
Ah Urban, I guess not everyone is able to catch the limit even with that, and then you have people like me that would like more than 1 feed after a trip. My ideal would be to have about 5 meals from 1 fishing trip every once in a while. And the rest of the trips could be 1 or 2 meals. I guess I just like to eat crappie a lot. I'm actually cool with the 30. I'm pretty happy they took out the no limit. What is the number you have in mind? What does everyone else think?
-
Haha Nice Job Mike! Too bad I didn't end up making it out to go for the lakers with you guys, Would have loved it!

Some of this data is quite surprising! Ugly Stik as the best selling rod!? I would have thought the soft baits would be dominated by berkley, with their powerbait and gulp. Line, reel, and hard baits aren't much of a surprise, but congratulations to each of these for being able to make it to the top.

Mykster, unless you find something good in the CTC half price sale, it's pretty much not worth it there. Do you have a bunch of leaders yet? If not, go get yourself some...like in the other forums discussed, steel or floro or titanium is good. Steel being the cheapest. Get some x-raps, husky jerks. Also, see what you can find out of the other brands out there. Those might be a bit cheaper, and you'll be happy with an extra crankbait. ...Bomber Long A's, cotton cordell wally divers, Can't name any off the top of my head anymore.. I don't know too much about spinnerbaits and spoons, so I hope others chime in on those. But to be honest, get maybe ONE xrap OR the husky jerk and get the cranks from other names. I find that rapala is good at just selling you products that aren't as good quality as ones that are cheaper than them-although their action is often really good. I had 4 rapala's that needed new hooks after 1 year of use...and I don't even use them all that often. I've had hooks break or get bent to the point that I don't feel confident in hooking fish with it afterwards. My wally diver finally got its hook changed after 3 good seasons with it. Size wise, I like ones that could work as walleye and bass cranks also, somewhere between 3" to 4" Colours - firetiger, gold with orange back - these ones are proven to work. I also like purple and pink ones although they don't seem to catch me that many fish. Good luck with your purchases.

Yes Jigger, Without FishID On, you will only be using the 20 degree cone. Lowrance also has a 20 degree cone, but they say "the 20 degree cone is capable of picking up signals up to the 60 degree mark. I don't really know what PTP means either, But my thoughts were more PTP wattage on paper *SHOULD* make a better fishfinder because of its ability to see smaller things at a greater distance, which should allow you to most efficiently use the fishfinder in more occaisions.
