  1. I don't think anyone here is going to scorn you for wanting a pic of your first chinny caught on a pin. If you didn't know it was snagged before hand, no harm no foul. The damn thing is going to be dead in a few weeks anyhow. If anything, leave it in the water until your buddy with the camera gets there. Take out out, quick pic and back in the drink it goes. I've snagged more then a few fish on the pin, nothing you can do about it.
  2. Dead slow troll with a lindy rig and a floating jig head. Slow death hook almost might be an option you can look into.
  3. K, when I read the title of this thread I was hoping for some pics
  4. MJL, excellent post bud. Now show me all your secret carp spots!!!! Muahahahhahahah
  5. I bought one and it never worked.. I use a good ole manual scale, it's been pretty good so far... I've also started to take lengths of fish a lot more then weighing them (Except when I'm out with Mike and he is catching monsters, lol) Roy, you aren't getting older, you are just becoming wiser We did the same up in Nipigon.. Leave the fish in the net, pop the hook, if it seemed ok a few pics then off they went back in the drink.
  6. Is that fish from the Elk?
  7. Look at the size of that thing!! lol
  8. The internet is serious business guys!!! The influx of pissed off newbs will subside I'm sure once all the chinnys have floated to the surface and become seagull food.
  9. I heard they shoot you on site. Bring a vest.
  10. No chain pickerel or sauger?
  11. I'm sorry, but not impressed in the least. Now if that monster came out of a lake that had a sustainable population, I'd give you a thumbs up. It's like those giant largemouth they grow down south and out west.
  12. Kinda hard to tell by the pics, but I would say a good 2.5-3lbs.
  13. I would assume that silvery fish was either a coho or a steelie. Maybe even a whitie?
  14. Use gloves when you fillet them?
  15. What's a brookie? Along with brookie add Sturgeon to the list if it's not there yet (white sturgeon to be exact) I also think a few members here have been lucky enough to catch a golden trout also. (not me)
  16. I'd be hitting the mouths, without any rain there should be a crap tonne of fish staging....
  17. Reminds me of the blue finned 'eyes we caught on our flyin trip this year.
  18. You guys are starting to confuse me with all your fancy talk.
  19. How is the weight the same? It's not like a 30lb fish has bones and structure 30 times as strong as say a 1lb bass.. If they did, then it wouldn't matter I guess. but they obviously don't. Cool topic if you think about it!
  20. I vertical hold bass and small pike. Anything with a decent amount of weight gets supported underneath the belly.
  21. Leave the steelhead where they are and let the resident brook trout prosper.
  22. River fishing never stops, you just need to drive to the open water
  23. Awesome fish!! Sounds like the mayfly hatch on Nipigon finally finished
  24. Cauterizing is what they most likely did. Best way to do it with minimal bleeding, but man they are pretty much burning it off!!! Had my tonsils done when I was 19 via the same method... Hurt like hell and I couldn't eat much for atleast a week.. Hurt to swallow also, I spit for the first couple of days.. Get better soon!
