  1. Now you know why people run leaders Might wanna put one on for next time if you are fishing musky waters...
  2. Oh man, I don't know if I want that responsibility.... But you know where I live, so I might take you up on the offer. Can't beat friends like you man...
  3. Thanks Roy.. I've downloaded the regs and read them over and had a few questions, looks like OFC came through again. I'll most likely give the NS Fisheries a ring just to make sure I'm not breaking any laws.. I'm sure I won't catch a thing, but you never know. I'll also have to drive to the north shore as everything else is already closed. (As far as salmon is concerned)
  4. You just woke up didn't you
  5. Mike, got a flyrod I can borrow?
  6. haha! thanks Al! From the regs I've found a few interesting things.. 1.Artificial Fly - A single hook or double hook with two single hooks dressed with material likely to attract fish, and to which no weight, spinning device or natural bait is attached. 2.Fly Fishing - Angling by the use of an artificial fly or flies that are attached to a line or to a leader that is attached to a line.. Now, it says I can only use an artificial fly for Atlantics.. By the definition I *think* I could use a single egg pattern or something similar. Now about the weight... Am I allowed to use a normal float rig setup with dust shot as long as the weight is not directly attached to the 'artificial fly'??
  7. I've in Halifax for a total of almost 3 weeks over the past 2 months and haven't wet a line yet. It's primetime for salmon out there and I am really thinking of bringing the pin with me the next time I fly out (early Oct)... Obviously I'm flying blind as to where to go or even presentation (do they even pin out east?) If anyone is a local or perhaps can put me in contact with a shop or something that could help me out, I'd really appreciate it.
  8. To big? It might be to small I love my 8' Heavy action Compre.. Works perfectly.
  9. I used to run Raven 5.6lb until I was broken off 4-5 times without reason. Got rid of it all, currently running Maxima flouro or Maxima ultragreen 6lb if the conditions call for it. Going to be loading on some Drennan Super Specialist Super Mono 8lb for my mainline this year, I've heard it's the bomb.
  10. Billy, don't make me post my oldmans Duramax!!!!! lol
  11. I love my truck ('03 S10 ZR2) but nothing defines reliable more then my Jetta TDI. 519,000km's and it's my daily driver Hopefully I'll hit at least 800,000kms before I have to retire it.
  12. You'll be glad to know it's raining up here right now, let's hope it stays that way for the next day or two.. I might take a drive out tonight and see if it's blown yet (although I doubt it)
  13. Man, I wouldn't take your money even if I am right. Although I was incorrect a few posts above, it's not a trib of Gbay, let's call it a trib of a trib No worries man, we can blame it on steelhead fever, lol
  14. You offered me a $100 to PM you the name of the GBay trib you fished? You sure you wanna lose $100? You aren't the only one that hikes for fish.
  15. No worries, I won't reveal the location of your secret spot
  16. The massive amounts of wood that I curse every year
  17. I'm pretty sure they are in the rivers for at least a couple years before venturing out in the lake, although one of the CRAA guys could answer this better then I can. If I'm not mistaken, there is also no open season on Atlantics except for in Lake O (Zone 20)
  18. There we go! This thread is now complete
  19. Uh, there are 10 times the amount of domestic trucks on the road. It's a surprise to you that there are more for sale? Get outta here!!!! :EDIT: Has Billy Bob posted a pic of his Tundra yet?
  20. Yup... I got fooled by the same fish on most likely the same river, until a buddy pointed out the differences..
  21. Hey Andy, I know what you're talking about. I think the thing to do is don't curl your fingers around so tight when inside the mouth so they pop through if the fish trashes.. Try to just make a J with your fingers the next time. I wouldn't use the boga grip on a big fish either, both hands, quick pic and back in the drink.
  22. Well, if you haven't crossed Atlantic salmon off your fishing bucket list, you can now Those are Atlantic smolts, not brownies...
  23. Seems extremely familiar to a river I've fished on numerous occasions Nice fish, bring on the rain!!!
  24. People eat those nasty fish? Poor things are half dead already, lol
  25. For a first reel pick up something like an Okuma... Lower side of the dollar scale, but are a great bang for the buck starter reel.
