  1. Should be catching some chinnies soon enough...
  2. Not really, you don't want to cast to far upstream from your standing position.. Cast the float up a bit above you, but the majority of your drift will happen below your standing position. When you hold the float back by putting a bit of tension on the line as it leaves the reel, this is called 'trotting'. When you float 'c.o.c.k.s' this is when it goes to it's vertical position after being pulled down by the shot you've put on the line below it. You don't want to close the bail, how else are you going to let the float go downstream? You'll want to control the line leaving your reel with your finger to make sure there is a slight tension.. I'm a newb when it comes to float fishing, but I've been lucky to have some great teachers.. It's helped with the learning curve
  3. lol, nice man! You notice the coasters are alot more silver then your resident stream trout?
  4. We are roughing it on the lake itself
  5. Port Colborne is on Lake Erie
  6. Nice! The oldman and I will be making the 15hr trek up to Nipigon tonight
  7. Ah, so by trying to make a point, you go out of your way to insult people that actually enjoy saying 'nice job!' and 'well done!' on other people's threads? I'm sorry if you fit the mold of the low post count/hungry for information type poster. If you really aren't here for that, try making some contributions to the site and become an active member.... I was out on the water close to 100 days last year, shouldn't I have a low post count to?
  8. Anyone else notice it's the guys with less then 50 posts which are whining about the lake info not being given out?
  9. Yup, I love my '03 Chevy ZR2 but there is a reason why the Tacoma's hold their value.... Great trucks..
  10. Been stuck at Pearson for a while.. The thunder and lightning storm is pretty awesome.
  11. Jacque, I forgot to comment on the workmanship.. It looks top notch man!!! I mentioned the weight balance because anytime we have to put a flouro or wire leader on our spooks (we fish them all the time) it really messes up the balance.. They end up nose diving if there is any kind of chop... We've started making 30-40lb mono leads (which float) which helps out quite a bit.
  12. I would guess it's probably one of the best places to fish for them in southern Ontario.. Just a guess though.
  13. That thing is an absolute monster!!!! Congrats man
  14. Sounds exactly what it's like to drive the 40hp 4stk Honda on the back of our 15' Legend.. No effort at all.
  15. The main lake we stayed on most likely would have yielded decent results if we put more then one day on it, but the back lake just had everything going for it, depth, structure, etc etc... We only got a few mins of heavy downpour but the wind was our enemy most of the week, except for the last day. It got so bad one day that we couldn't back troll, 3' whitecaps and gusts at least in the 60km/h range made things interesting for sure. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.. Great company, great fishing and laughs the entire week.
  16. We snagged a sturgeon years ago when fishing the sandbars for lakers... Took a good 2hrs to get it close to the boat, estimated at around 10ft or so... Biggest thing I've ever seen in fresh water.. We had a little floatilla of boats around us wondering what we had on that was taking so long to bring in. Got it up to the boat, tail out of the water and gave the rod a good snap and the shad rap came free...
  17. I thought I was going to break an ankle wearing those boots without the inserts... Crazy.... Definitely a treacherous walk, although jumping the logs was the best part
  18. Main jet could be completely clogged or you could have a float height issue in the carb bowl. I'd take the carb apart and give it a good soak and cleaning...
  19. Check the intake manifold for water leaks, very common on the 4.3... Also, the auto 4wd setup in the Jimmys can be a huge pain in the ass..
  20. New to baitcaster + senko's = frustration.... Good luck. I'd start off throwing baits with a little weight.
  21. I think the poor Loomis has been buggerized enough, lol.
