  1. They need to nuke that entire canal/river and be done with it.
  2. Our border crossing in the Sault was also painless when be brought back our Lund. In and out in about 10 mins..
  3. I caught mine on a 6'6 Clarus with a Saros 1000 and 6lb Fireline, lol! One monster run and that was it... Buried herself in the weeds and I just brought her in nice and slow. No fuss at the side of the boat either.. Popped the hooks, took some pics and back she went. I've never seen a pike with a back as thick as that, an absolute monster for sure.
  4. I didn't even pinch the tail on that pike, maybe I had my 50in and didn't even know it!!! Ah well, can't do anything about that now, except for keep chasing them!
  5. I thought a bucketlist was a list you wanted to accomplish? I'm still in the hunt for. 1) 50+in Northern (Biggest is 48.5) 2) 25+inch spec (Biggest is 23in) 3) 40lb Laker (Biggest is 25lbs) 4) 50in muskie (Biggest is 36, lol)
  6. One reason I'm happy I'm fishing the week before Plus all the traffic chaos... when everyone is on their way up, I'll be coming home, lol.
  7. Once you watch HD, going back to SD is horrible.
  8. The $50 tripod at Henrys is perfectly fine for what I do with it
  9. Raf, that's an awesome pic!!! Damn eagles stealing my brook trout! lol Dinner! by billmarz, on Flickr
  10. Time to run a different lure. My suggestion would be a Johnson Silver minnow with a big twister tail on the back. Extremely weedless and you can slow roll them like crazy. I'd also think it's way to early in the season to be throwing topwaters.. The water out there can't be much over 50 degrees.
  11. I hope you don't mind me posting a few of the pics I've taken of these cute little critters Black Bear. by billmarz, on Flickr
  12. Nice to see things are heating up this way!
  13. Nah, I just don't like dangling 3-4k on a railing
  14. Yeah, lean it on a railing when your 14-15 stories up, lol! A tripod not only keeps your camera still, it keeps it safe I've got a cheap one from Henrys and it does the job really well.
  15. You need a tripod if you don't already have one.. Set the ISO as low as possible and let the shutter do the work. I also like using the 2 second timer to get rid of any camera shake when pressing the button. Good luck and let us know how it turns out!
  16. I'd probably just vacuum seal it and put it in the freezer. No curing for me.
  17. Depends on your leader and flyline.. The Sharkskin I use has a loop, so that's how I put the leader on... No knot required.. As for tippet to leader I'll use a double surgeons. If I don't have a loop on my flyline, it's a nail knot like Dave mentioned above.
  18. I caught a whitefish on a dry fly once I don't think that will be repeated by me anytime soon, lol.
  19. I love it all.. From the rod in the downrigger springing up, to the float ripping down on a cool fall morning with a big steelhead underneath it to spotting that resident trout and making the perfect presentation so it sips down your dry.. I really don't care, I'll do it all.
  20. It really depends on the type of summer we have.. If it's super hot with a little rain, even the headwaters of some systems will get that hot.. Just something to be aware of A cheap pool thermometer works just fine. Lots of fly guys you'll see will have them on their vests.
