  1. A lot of the guys who fly fish for them don't actually hook them, they just get wrapped up in the long streamers. I don't think I've even had a fish turn on a streamer, even though it's 6inches from his face.
  2. So you know exactly what I'm talking about. I'm guessing they are going after big schools of shad. I've even brought out the 6wt and streamers and can't get one to go. It's discouraging.
  3. Great advice. Niagara is loaded with everything easily accessible for the shore angler (Although you gotta be safe about it)
  4. +1.. You lost the battle before it even began, lol.
  5. Fireline Crystal. 10lb Nano will be fine. I like 6lb because it's the diameter of dental floss and casts a mile.
  6. Did Joe have that camera @ 10mm the entire trip? Crazy at how low that river is compared to when we floated it! Nice to see the fish cooperated.
  7. Drennan Super Specialist Super mono is great stuff. I've got a few spools of 8lb I'll use in the winter.
  8. Sidecasting is a lot less effortless, lol. There's also the spinning side cast which a buddy of mine does. Wallis cast does help reduce line twist however (Although I think most of it is from the float spinning, not the casting itself IMO)
  9. GPS is going to be your best bet. It will keep track of all kinds of things (total distance travel, ETAs, etc) And in case the fog rolls in and you have no idea where you are, you can get back to shore
  10. Salmons are slowing turning into Zalmons!!! Good job Aaron, I didn't even get the boat down this year for kings. Lots of guys had a rough go.
  11. 6lb Fireline is stronger then what you're using I run 5.6# or 6.6# leader, no floaters battles are over quick.
  12. Why are you guys trying to catch all those whitefish on the graph? :)
  13. You'll wanna be fishing the wind blown side anyhow, so it's not going to make much of a difference:
  14. Spooled this morning by a big Lake O chinny!

Also just HOPING it was a female *cough* roe wagon *cough*

  15. I think we all assumed you were using a centerpin. Ditch the 20lb mono, that on a spinning reel will be a handful. I'd probably load up with 6lb Fireline Crystal and be done with it.
  16. It doesn't matter if they'e setup in parallel. You can do either and it will work just fine. (ie use one battery or both)
  17. The casting distance I get with 6lb Nano over anything else is pretty nutty. It's like night and day. Now if you're fishing east ditches, then casting distance really doesn't matter. But say the Geen and bigger tribs? It can make or break your day. Only thing I really dislike about Nano is the fact that ice in your guides will rip it to shreds.. Other then that, I don't see any downfalls. (Sans maybe the price). Too many positives to ignore. Also those hero hooksets are a lot of fun :) I do spool up with Drennan Super Specialist or Fireline Crystal once the cold weather and ice get here, for a mono it's good stuff.
  18. Take a wild guess, add 2 inches and you're done!
  19. Yeah, you gotta use a shot line with Nano or any braid...
  20. Don't forget to spend some $$$ on a good sleeping pad. That's what is going to keep you warm.
  21. Ugh, I gotta get out and chase a few of these raptors! Totally jealous man! Great shots!
