  1. My shorelander trailer has ratchet type tiedowns for the transom of the boat. They are made by Fulton. I've noticed that they are getting a bit sticky and was wondering if I can lubricate them and if I can, whats the best thing to use. TIA.
  2. In southern Kitchener. Its 4:30pm and the storm just started coming through.
  3. Unlike the 2nd post of this thread, there is no sarcasm or hidden meaning... Believe me, I've been there...lol For example, if you only have one MH musky rod w/50 pound test line, I may not recommend a Double 10 or a Pounder.. I think Gallie's idea of an introduction is perfect.
  4. Stick your head between your legs and kiss your a$$ goodbye.. :spam:
  5. Are you new to Muskie fishing or new to Muskie Fishing in the Moon River basin? The reason I ask is that Muskie fishing is a very special part of this sport and a resource that needs to be protected through proper catch and release methods. There's lots of info online on this and as far as what to use exactly, its impossible to say. They are the fish of 10,000 casts and most hard-core muskie fisherman use many different techniques. If I knew what your experience level is, what kind of equipment you use, etc. I'd could be of more assistance. Cheers!
  6. Huh?
  7. I'm way down in my quota for buckets this year, got lots of smallies... Maybe Rice in the morning and Scugog in the afternoon.. its on the way home.. Thanks everyone!
  8. I find the big smallies at long point don't put up much of a fight either.. big fat and happy.... oh, and probably old as well. Give me a 16 incher over a 20 any day... except for the photo op!
  9. Going east of the GTA next week in search of largemount and muskie. What is your recommendation? Scugog or Rice? TIA!
  10. +1 ..... Been using these for about a year and they are the best thing going.
  11. Sent you a PM on some of my recommendations. Regarding a dealer, I do NOT recommend Tucker's Marine in Apsley. The 2 sons are running it now and I found the quality of workmanship (rigging) and service to be quite poor.
  12. Also sorry to hijack. Does anyone know if there's any back country campsites on Stormy or Clear? Something on the water where I could beach the boat and pitch a tent for a few nights? TIA.
  13. If any of you guys come from a manufacturing background you'll understand that building an outboard motor (or anything for that matter!) that will last 20+ years is a bad business model. Back in the days when they didn't have the knowledge or OPEX certain manufactures "overbuilt" their equipment in an effort to gain market share through customer loyalty. In today's world where statistics is a science and engineering can predict, with amazing accuracy, just how long a product will last. Many cynics will say that most things last "just after the warranty expires" which isn't far from the truth. Its a fine line between keeping customers happy and keeping the business profitable. A proverbial tight rope really. Its my belief that if you've had brand xx model yy for 30 years and its been flawless, be happy. With today's technology this is the last thing any of the manufacturers want.. Its also not a reason to by another product from this same manufacturer either. Unless of course you can get the exact same model, built during that time. Regardless, its nice to see that Yamaha is covering the cost and that Mike's getting excellent service. All of this stuff we use and play with is man made so I take that for what its worth. At the end of the day, how problems are taken care of is really what matters.
  14. I would say that 80% of my fishing is solo. You get pretty good at solo launching/loading as well. In addition, I'll go camping about 3 times a year for 2 to 3 nights solo. Love the solitude and no one chirping at me about what time to get up, leave, etc. I think I'm starting to like it more and more....
  15. Noise like that is anything but minor. Even if the dealer balks at providing warranty work, contact Yamaha directly. There's a very good chance they'll cover it. Good luck and I hope you're not off the water very long. Best fishing of the year is right around the corner..
  16. My neighbor to a tee... I honestly believe its just laziness... But then again when I moved into our new house I bought a brand new Honda mower and gave this neighbor my old one which was about 10 yrs old at the time. Well its 12 yrs later and he's still using it and I doubt he's ever winterized it, changed the oil, plug or air filter..... My wife still brings up the fact that I didn't need the honda after all...lol
  17. Holy Mackinaw! What amazing footage. And the picture quality.. wowza. What equipment do you use? Also, you can probably remove the NF from your post's title....
  18. Planning on putting in at Scugog next week. Can anyone recommend the best value launch with parking? I'll only be out for the day. Thanks in advance!
  19. Like what? A body?
  20. The biggest kicker i've seen is a 15hp and this was on a 21' multi-species boat. Something about running the power steering on a big Verado.. I use a 9.9 Pro Kicker on my 17.5' Larson and it trolls 3mph at less than 1/2 throttle, close to 5mph at full. In the odd case that I may need to troll faster or if the wind is really up, I just use the main.
  21. I've been looking at launches in Cook's bay on Lake Simcoe and the $20 will only get you the launch. No idea what the blue would run ya.. I've been fishing the long point area about once a week since the bass opener and every launch on the other side of the causeway is at least $15. Add in the price of your beer and it seems that they are all jumping on the bandwagon. Otherwise, if there's a $10 launch that will give me access to long point bay, please let me know, I would really appreciate it.
  22. Not funny.....
  23. A bit more effort that you'll never regret. Spreading the load over a larger area is never a bad thing. It may save your console in the unlikely event of an accident as well.
  24. Correct, there were no other boats any where near it. I would say 1/2 km away was the closest. If there was a boat 75 yds away I would have yelled at them or i'm sure they would have yelled at me!
  25. From the pictures I believe I see a yellow lab. Fiercely loyal and amazing companion. Smart as heck, strong as an ox yet gentle. I've known many.. May he always be in your thoughts as he was doing his duty by protecting what meant most to him. And he died a good death. Brave and strong protecting his family. What was his name?
