  1. In either the GTA, Peterborough, or Kitchener areas. I need someone to install my new pro kicker. Thanks!
  2. B-O-A-T -> Bring On Anouther Thousand

  3. Thanks, that sounds like a viable option as I'm staying in Trenton. Thanks everyone for your help and commentary . Like i said in the initial post, I know it may be a bit of a sight but I have to say i've tried it at least once
  4. Thanks Bear, are you going this year?
  5. Natural sports in Kitchener has a few Premier's at last years pricing. I was also looking for a 8'6 heavy they did have a 8'6" extra heavy for the low $200's. They also have several 8'6 heavy moderate action crankbait/trolling rods in stock as well if memory serves me.. I deal with Nelson (owner). Nice guy and fair.
  6. Anyone going? I here its a bit of a gong show because so many people attend but I've never done it. Is there any insights/strategies that you'd like to share ?? I'm booked into the Travel Lodge Trenton and planning to launch near Deseronto but I'm wondering if there's a marina I could leave my boat at (friday night) to prevent daily in and outs. I've heard of people waiting 2 hours or more to lauch...
  7. Hi Dave, One thing I didn't see mentioned is trolling which is a very common technique and a welcome change after an hour of throwing 8oz. baits. Typically a trolling rod will be glass rather than Graphite with more of a medium action that lets the big crankbaits move. My recommendation is find a 8'6" heavy/fast for your new NaCL, and get the C4 serviced and stick it on a trolling rod. Are you sure your reel speed is 6.4:1? Thats the NaCL HS and I didn't believe Sail sold that model. If its the standard NaCL 60, its 5.4:1 and as good an all purpose musky reel as you can get. Regardless, good luck with your new found obsession!
  8. I would check out Sail, they have a 15% off fishing sale every month it seems. Good place to get a specific 'ski rod as well (St Croix/Fenwick/Shimano). A med heavy musky rod is not the same as a med heavy bass rod so go have a look. I'm also a big advocate on a longer rod as it's better for longer casts and more general purpose. I would recommend an 8' or 8'6" heavy, fast action as a good place to start.
  9. Maybe the water level in the lake has changed?
  10. I have a prop that needs repair but the number for them online does not work. 905-677-0316 Do you have a phone number? Thanks!
  11. A buddy and I are considering a trip to Kipawa in early May. Any recommendations on accommodations, fishing techniques, etc? I'm planning on bringing my own boat so i would like to know about parking (if the resort is water access only) and the launch. Many thanks in advance!
  12. Just curious why? All of my rods except one are north of 6'6". The upper row of my centre rod locker accommodates 8'6" Muskie rods w/o an issue. The riggin' rod I'm looking into is to replace a 6'6" Medium weight, fast action spinning rod that I find is a touch heavy for this application most of the time.
  13. When is winter ever going to start? The sooner it starts, the sooner its over!

I am SO glad I didn't put down my deposit for an ice fishing trip, back in October when they called asking to book for next week. LOL

  14. Hi Mike, I've read a few of your posts in the past and we fish different water for the most part. This rig is for typical lake walleye in the 2-4 lb range. If I ever get out to the reach next fall I'll be using a totally diff. setup. One point tho, I was drop shotting for smallmouth this past summer, 6'3 ML spinning rod with 8lb mono. Ended up boating a PB pike that was north of 20lbs. I just took my time and kept the line from wrapping around her when she rolled. Took time and patience but I got it in the boat.
  15. I'm currently in the market to upgrade my walleye lindy type rigging rod and reel and I'm looking for recommendations. I currently use an all-purpose spinning rod (6'6", Med weight, fast action, 8lb test) with the open bail technique and would like something a little more specific. My current choices includes the following rods with a Stradic Ci4 2500 spooled with 8lb mono or 15lb power pro: St Croix Eyecon or Legend Tournament: ECS/LTWS-70MLF Riggin' 7' ML Fast 1pce 4 - 10 1/8 - 3/8 ECS/LTWS-76MLXF Slip-N-Rig 7'6" ML X-Fast 1pce 4 - 10 1/8 - 3/8 Or a Fenwick Elitetech Walleye: ETW72M-FS 7'2" ML Fast 1pce 4 - 10 1/8 - 3/8 ETW76M-FS 7'6" ML Fast 1pce 4 - 10 1/8 - 3/8 Or a Fenwick Aetos: A721MXFS 7'2" M Fast 1pce 6 - 14 1/4 - 5/8 A761MLXFS 76" ML Fast 1pce 4 - 10 1/16 - 3/8 I really like the skeleton seat on the Legend Tournament and Aetos for extra sensitivity. I also use this technique in shallower water (8;12') where I use 1/8oz slip or bullet sinkers. Thoughts?
  16. Hi Adam, If you look at the St Croix, G Loomis, and Fenwick website they are all pretty consistent with this application which is a medium weight, fast or extra fact, in the 6'6" to 6'8" range. These rods also work great as a lighter jerk bait, drop shot, or shaky-head bass rig. IN addition, a medium weight jig (1/4 - 1/2 oz) jig or snap-jig rod for walleye. I use a vintage Fenwick Goldenwing (6'6", med, fast) spinning rod w/8lb mono for this with good results.
  17. How did we get from steelheading to coffee...LOL. Not a tims coffee fan but I do like me a warm apple fritter. Guess the season is blown but Mrs. K will be happy. Its warm enough for me to clean out the garage..
  18. really any shortish <8', heavy rod will work. Most Jerkbait applications come in the form of musky/pike or bass, which suits what you want. The real issue is that Musky and Bass JB rods are very different and rod weight will only tell you part of the story. For example, pick up a MH rod made for bass, then a MH rod made for pike/musky. The bass rod will be rated for 12lb - 20lb test line, 1/4 oz to 1 oz lures. The pike/musky MH rod will be rated for 1/2 to 2 oz lures and 20 - 50lb line. If you're truly looking for a one fits all, a 7' Heavy action bass type rod will fill both requirements. I use a Bass Pro Extreme flippin' stick for casting, jerking, ripping, etc for pike. I spooled it with 40lb suffex braid. Does the job plus I've got something that will pull bass out of heavy cover. Good luck in your search!
  19. yea we did get a chitload of rain. I'm thinking early/mid next week so maybe that will be enough time for it to drop and clear a bit.......
  20. Might check out the Maitland on my way up. Thoughts?
  21. Season's greetings everyone! I've never made the trek up to Southampton so I'm looking for some pointers. With all this warm rain, I figure the steelhead will be making their way into the mouth of the river. I'll be drifting roe bags, any tips on where and when? Thanks so much!
