  1. I was reading a tackle tour review and found out that the Calcutta Ds have VBS.. Now you have to disassemble the reel to remove the spool but I was wondering if anyone has played with this or has recommendations? I have a 400d that I use to throw big muskie baits I have a 200d that I use on a Frog/Swimbait/Swimjig rod. TIA!
  2. Its getting to be near impossible to find deals on high end equipment. With the current exchange rate all the dealers at the show were hiding behind that... I did end up going to Fishing World this past weekend and I picked up an IMX flippin stick and a Calcutta D 200 at last years prices. They are one of the few dealers that maintain previous pricing on their old stock. Not sure what they have left but its worth a look. Also, Sail has all there GL2's on clearance - approx 50% off. Not the quality youre looking for but the rods I saw were all marked down to $150.
  3. If you want accurate answers contact Monty at Angler's Outfitters and if he can't help you ask him for the Rep's contact info. I found that the guys manning the HB/MK booth at the Toronto boat show knew little to nothing about their products.... I remember asking explicitly about CHIRP and I was told that all they know is what they've looked up online... and they still didn't understand what the big deal is...
  4. Its also my 29th wedding anniversary and I'll be there :-D.. Can you get your ticket in advance or is it at the door only?
  5. I do understand the difference yet my question remains the same. For example, I usually fish the Kiwanis Walleye "DERBY" in may..lol Yea its cheap, you can use live bait.. but decent prizes and a great warmup for the season.
  6. Does anyone know of a website that has a comprehensive list of fishing tournaments and derbys in Ontario? I'm interested in softwater Bass, Walleye, and Pike tournaments/derbys in south and central ontario. Thanks in advance!
  7. What ever happened to natural selection? Are you sure we want these boys to grow up and have kids??
  8. Parabolic typically means medium or moderate action. Parabolic rods really excel in crankbait/treble hook applications because they load up a little slower and help you keep the fish hooked with the small hooks you find on a treble. Not an ideal solution for larger single hooks (IE jigs!) where a fast or extra fast rod will help detect a lite bite and have the backbone to send the hook home. Saying that you can catch fish on any rod with any technique but to optimize your landing success rate its good to have the right equipment. Seanik, if you already have a parabolic rod and a MedLite triumph (most likely fast action) then start looking towards something more to the Medium or Medium Heavy power. I would recommend a fast action rod unless you're going to use it exclusively for crank baits and trolling. Check out the Fenwick HMG line. Its been completely updated and they are great value, come in all kinds of actions and powers, and are 2 piece.
  9. True! I use an Accurist for Bottom Bouncin'.. The flippin switch is great for when you're moving deeper, just thumb it and you're good to go...
  10. Thanks! Finally a useful reply...
  11. Free shipping on orders over $100...
  12. Has anyone dealt with Wholesale SPorts out of western canada? They have a pretty decent sale on now. One thing that caught my eye is the Abu MGX for $288. Its at Sail right now for $379 less 15% plus tax. I believe there may be not sale tax applied when buying from wholesale as they don't have a presence in the democratic republic of Ontario...
  13. Gawd, an optimist??? Where did he come from.,... :spam:
  14. Yea I may have to re-fog the lawnmower and edge trimmer. Personally I love the fact that we get this weather into late December sometimes, cuts the winter in half.. Just hopin' we don't pay for it come spring.....
  15. Check out Cisco as well. IMHO, they are best.
  16. I use Orcas for all my rod holder/trolling needs. Everything from trolling the flats for small mouth, walleyes with a number 1 dipsy, and trolling huge cranks at 5mph for muskie. The only thing about the Orcas is the way they release. You have to pull up on the front/outboard side to get them to open, its not a problem but its not intuitive. I've had to school guests several times as they naturally want to pull up either evenly (front to back) or at the rear. I also prefer the push-button mounts they come with, rather than the twist and turn you get with the power locks. I got mine at Sail on sale..lol
  17. Pick the spots you'd like to see during daylight hours (IE, North Superior, foothills and mountains west of Calgary, etc) and see how they line up with your driving schedule...
  18. LCBO, MCBO.. the key is the letter C for CONTROL. In other words, glean enormous taxes from the sale of anytime of mood altering substance..lol Lets face it, the more government we have, the more we'll need it.. I believe they know that!
  19. Quit drinking would be my definition of a detox..lol Screw that!
  20. I use it a lot and have never had a problem other than the fact that its expensive. If you use it more than a few times a year, get a transponder. And for those who note that it shouldn't be private I would like to know why? The Gov't had their chance and they blew it. Lets face it, it can't be that hard to manage a highway.. they manage OPG for gawds sake... or is it mis-manage....lol Just imagine that if the Gov't did still own it, they'd try and find a way to add a HOT lane to it...
  21. so who said you need big baits to catch big Muskie??? Very nice fish, dad's straining under the weight..lol
  22. Did you guys fish the bar or just the river??
