Just an FYI, my warning being "reluctant" had nothing to do with being PC or any worry over offending anyone. I don't post reports from GTA tribs 'cause they get hammered too much already. I also didn't want to wake up and read that someone got robbed or killed down there knowing I could have warned them.

I'm posting this kind of reluctantly, so I'm leaving out all the details. I don't want to burn my spots but I don't feel right being silent. Anyone who fishes there already knows so this is for anyone who doesn't..... I strongly recommend fishing in groups only, and avoid darkness if you are fishing in south Oshawa. I've had some scary experiences this fall and I believe I would have been robbed (or worse) if I had not been fishing in a group of four guys. This isn't chicken little stuff, I'm talking three sketchy incidents just yesterday. Be alert and pay attention out there guys.

Another way to look at it, with numbers I pulled out of the air because this isn't my job. They say there are 6 or 7 jobs created to support each job at GM so 7 x 2500 = 17500 jobs wild guess average $30K per year = $525M x 20 % tax = $105M PER YEAR in taxes going to the government. And the bailout was ten years ago. So that's $1.05B. Add 2500 gm jobs at a round $50K per year (and most pay more than that), 30% tax rate and that's another $37.5M per year or $375M. Now add all the sales taxes generated when those salaries are spent. And then add the taxes on the profit that spending generates. And finally if GM wasn't bailed out and had folded the Gov would have spent hundreds of millions per year or more on social assistance and retraining. On the balance of things I'd say it could have been worse. *not sure why my font went all wonky there sorry

It's not really close to Toronto but for anyone following this thread don't sleep on Elwood Epps on hwy 11 in Gravenhurst. The have Salus and Mustang, lots of sizes in stock, and their prices are very competitive. I went from a one piece Mustang to a two piece Salus and I'm very happy with it. Nice to be able to take off the coat in the hut.

I use BFG All Terrain K02's all year round and I love them. They are tough (LT) and snow rated, not as loud as you might think, and they're wearing well so far. No good for a car but if you're driving a pickup I wouldn't use anything else.if you want to run only one set year round.

For people that want an inflatable it's your life, your choice. I fish from a kayak, often at night and occasionally alone. I use a foam PFD as knowing that an inflatable is statistically unlikely to fail will be no comfort to me while I drown if it does. Besides, my PFD is all day comfortable. Most good ones are.

I still have my OF "N" hand towel and use it every time out. That thing will never die ?

I don't really understand why everyone is struggling to understand this point. So you're cheap and want to spend less? Great, have at 'er. Why care that we find a few extra dollars for convenience works for us????

I'm with you. I live in an apartment. A can lasts me all season and this stuff never goes bad. Its also not just premixed gas. It's better and cleaner. It won't gum up carbs. I can understand not wanting the cost if you're using liters per trip but it's perfect for me.

I doubt my auger even uses a whole can per season so $10 a liter is not really an issue for me.

I stored my boat outdoors for four winters. Three shrink wrapped (with a dessicant bag to absorb any moisture). The last year before I sold it I made a frame myself and put an industrial strength tarp over it. It worked too, but it was at my Dad's place so he could clear the snow off of it. If you can afford the shrink wrap, it is better than the tarp.

I have Bass Pro Shops Pro Qualifier suit (bib pant and jacket). It was around $500, and so far I feel it's worth it. It's comfortable, has lots of pockets, and I've never felt rain or wind through it. One possible downside is it's a bit heavy for the middle of summer.

So just an update, I blew up my shoulder so I missed Lovesick Lake. I took the kayak to the cottage thinking it night get better in time but couldn't use it, so I fished off the dock. There's real clear shallow water at the dock so I had pretty low expectations. I managed to hook this guy on the Ned rig so I was pretty happy about that. Got lots of others but of course they were little. I'm resting up the shoulder in the hope it'll get better in time to use all these great tips on the August long weekend at Restoule PP.

Solely Outdoors in the old LeBaron location in Markham also carries Zman.

Great post, thanks for taking the time to put it together for me! I love paddletails actually, but I'm forcing myself to change up. Partly to break old habits and lately I been getting the tails bit off and it's costing me more money than I'd like!
