  1. went glass and not sure Ill ever go back. Ride quality is just so much better. I get it that guys like Deep v's when theres 6 feet of chop, or you specifically are down rigging. but on the average windy day or when its calm teh glass just rides so much better than aluminum
  2. As far as I was aware, that shell 91 is all produced at the same refinery which is distinctively ethanol free. not sure about small locations but I know our shell in pointe au baril has e free 91
  3. unfortunately the 91's that arent (esso, petro) dont tell you the E grade anymore. Safe bet is shell and canadian tire, because they come from the same refinery.
  4. Looks like I’ve got some work to do come spring! Since I’m the kinda person to do things right the first time I will probably replace everything that I possibly can within reason. As long as replacing those seals is as simple as opening the ram caps and pulling the old seals and simply putting in the new ones, then that’s exactly what I am going to do. I’m going to try and look to see if there are any YouTube videos of people filling their hydraulic fluid as well just to make sure I don’t screw anything up. One thing I did do was turn the relief valve (at least that’s what I thought it was) in order to get the motor up and down to finish winterizing. One thing I noticed is that it seemed like the valve itself was either stripped or just continued to turn? I should get a photo of it to show you guys what i am talking about. When I turned it it made an air pressure relief noise and allowed me to move the motor. I then noticed that I could hear it leaking still so I turned it a bit more and it seemed to seal up. I’m not exactly sure what’s going on there aside from the fact that maybe the cap is sitting on a gasket and just spinning kind of like a bottle cap.
  5. Funny the folks most fired up about it had no problem voting for the guy that did
  6. Don Cherry has been let go. Grew up watching Don and never missed a coaches corner growing up but was honestly surprised the last few years that they still had him around. One of those things where they should have called it quits before things got worse. He was largely incoherent and very often his points were not delivered as sharply as back in the day. A canadian legend regardless. Even more sad that it all ended over something related to rememberance day.
  7. gotta have a better than .860 save percentage to stay in the NHL Yes the leafs left him out to dry, but hutch wasnt good enough on enough goals this year that the leafs are going to try something else. I suspect that this times perfectly with the return of zach hyman. The leafs 100% need to move a few pieces in order to be cap compliant while Hyman is playing. What that means to me is that Dubas is shopping the backup goaltender market very very hard at the moment.
  8. canadian tire premium and Shell Premium are both ethanol free. I run nothing but shell v power in my outboard and snowmobiles now.
  9. PAUL castellano hooked one in the Niagara river during the 39 hours series on YouTube
  10. Interesting Iron Askeral is a transformer fluid with good insulating properties...wild Chris are you saying if i go and get a spanner, you can easily swap out the ram seals once the caps are opened up? Also, i dont seem to see an obvious fill point for a hydraulic fluid reservoir? anyone care to point out what I am looking at?
  11. Hey guys, so a quick update. I’m not sure what things are “called” but I figured out where the leak is, as there was hydraulic fluid dripping off of this part (this is not my outboard but it’s the same part) im guessing there is a gasket there that has failed? Or could be worse?
  12. I was able to use that valve to get it to move around with help...I’m concerned about allowing air into the system though too. It’s not ideal that the pump is struggling so much I worry that Id burn it up.
  13. Hey guys, this has been a consistent problem with my boat since I’ve got it. my trim has always been a little slow when it’s cold outside, but then today while trying to winterize and having pulled the boat out of the water into the sub zero air, the trim totally fails. anyone have any experience with this? Is there a way to purge air out of the system and add additional hydraulic fluid? Is there an airlock in the system that’s causing the problem? Is the pump itself probably toast, and if so are they easily replaced? help?
  14. wait until next week...shes gonna be looking fairly wintery even down here in the GTA. The low for friday night in Parry Sound is -11
  15. Here is the Information you will need https://www.ontario.ca/document/ontario-fishing-regulations-summary/fisheries-management-zone-16 You will also need a fishing license. the salmon are done, but the steelhead are starting
  16. convert to canadian please lol
  17. Anyone know if crappy can sells stainless cotter pins? Or any other easy (multiple location) places that sell em. I’m winterizing this Thursday and I’ve never taken my prop off my boat. This sounds like a smart idea. stupid question I know but I’m a new boat owner and I’m learning!
  18. looking back im on a bit of a drought for a monster. I personally havent caught one over 40 in a while. Might need to start chasing them a bit more frequently again!
  19. And this is why western canada hates us. What do you think kids in Flin Flon did? When I was of trick or treating age, it was standard procedure, your halloween costume could fit your snowsuit underneath it. I recall Halloween 94 or 95 it was legitimately -20 when we were trick or treating. I felt the same way when i first moved to ontario and they would force us to have recess inside any time Ontario issued an "extreme cold weather alert" because daytime temperatures didnt reach over -10. In flin flon you didnt see warmer than -10 from december to April every year lol.
  20. you Should see the old boys down in alabama Fishing spider rigs for crappie. 40 rods for one dude. those rod limits makes for tougher fishing for lakers in parry sound, but that’s intentional, and I got nothing against that.
  21. I hope ranger holds it up even after their acquisition by white river. im not surprised by this story at all going back to 2011 though. That’s why guys paid the premium to get a ranger.
  22. Man what a head of hair! great catches indeed, tasty morsels as well
  23. thats the problem with most things when it comes to getting opinions about boats is people are very brand loyal. Just like with cars, you wont see to many dodge guys telling you how great an f150 or vice versa. I can honestly say with 100% conviction that having spent my life with quads, skidoos, and boats, two things are consistent. Sometimes you have a bad one, sometimes you have something that just seems to last forever. The only weird one is that every japanese motor myself or my family or very close friends have owned has lasted. We had/have a suzuki quad from 1986 that my uncle who just passed away still had. A very good friend of mine's 85 three wheeler honda still runs (hes had the head redone), my nephews 89 suzuki 4 wheeler runs, my 88 suzuki 15 outboard still runs, and my 1998 yamaha 2 stroke outboard runs. None of them seem to die. Go to Mexico or cuba and check what outboards they are running, they are literally 100% old beat to hell yamahas...that...still run? That was enough to sell me when I was buying an 20 year old outboard with my boat last year. I went with what I knew would probably keep running, and not surprisingly aside from an impeller change, I havent had a single issue.
