Fly In Trip Report - Hearst Air Martison Lake. Lots of Pictures!
AKRISONER replied to James77's topic in General Discussion
awesome to see a full blown report around her by someone other than the usuals! (not a dig, just nice to see new blood as well) Glad you enjoyed it so much. Its trips like this that become an addiction that make you want to come back year after year. -
ive had great experience wearing the long sleeve fishing shirts specifically fishing in 36 degree heat with high humidity. I wear them extra baggy and of course in the lightest colours possible. That coupled with a buff dumped in the lake and then covering my head and face, i feel cooler than i would with my shirt off. It basically feels like im standing wet in the shade on a hot day. The key is the wet buff and hat for sure

chilliwack played my dads highschool sock hop god, i cant remember my first concert to be honest...I went to a bunch of outdoor crap when i was kid with my parents...but the first real concert i can recall going to was sarstock when i was 14. Pretty cool to see ACDC, Rush, The guess who, blue rodeo and the rolling stones in one day. Not too shabby at all. I remember seeing a lot of boobs that day and for a 14 year old boy, thats pretty awesome. Once I hit college then i really started going to a lot of hip hop shows...the heads here will appreciate the fact that i went to rock the bells 08 Saw the roots, cypress hill, wu tang clan, meth and red, blackstar, cage, mr lif, murs, brother ali, and to top it all off Rage Against the Machine closed the night. Best shows ive ever been to? El-p and Killer Mike on the cancer for cure/rap music tour and people under the stairs in 09-10?? Also Action bronson and Danny Brown on the too high to die tour was incredible as well. Damn so many shows its hard to remember them all.

just playing devils advocate here, because i totally see your point and totally agree that we should not be marketing products to children...but then we must regulate alcohol marketing as well. The site isnt liking the images im trying to post...but google rockstar vodka...and then google rockstar energy drink...

i think we are preaching to the choir here...there arent many people left who can argue that me going out on a saturday night in seatle, eating a choclate chip cookie...then proceeding to enjoy the street eats, ferris wheel and snacks all while totally being functional, coherent and polite is causing a big problem. The only thing i noticed that was related to weed was the fact that when we left washington the following day stretches of highway are now being adopted by the cannabis producers, so most of the roads had clean ditches and were nicely paved...

lol guy takes a musky to a grocery store after fishing with a jig and grub...could you get any more stereotypical. Probs fishing with an ugly stick too.

Small has motor or electric trolling motor for a small tin boat

probably partially on their way out the door already anyways...further to my point about crappy walmart deep cycles. You get what you pay for. Also...have you ever seen a car battery freeze in the car? I dont think it gets that cold in the kawarthas. It happened one epic morning 2 winters ago up in Pointe Au baril. Nothing likes it outside when its 39 below. -
OK this is going on the Christmas list, dry aged steaks at home

how the hell do you plug the thing in if its inside the fridge though? thats got me really confused? -
who do you know that catches 50's on the regular? As a rule of thumb 50 is the plateau...thats a trophy musky over 54 and you are talking fish of a lifetime. Considering you are getting very close to world record caliber fish at the 55 mark I would say unless you are a hardcore musky angler that fishes a lifetime or you hit the jackpot, you will never catch a 55 inch class musky. So far I think i know of one person on this entire forum that has one? As far as the kawarthas go, average size is definitely closer to 40 inches these days. 50 is a possibilty on a couple of the lakes..but at the same time ask a guy like Pete whos caught countless kawarthas musky, he still doesnt have a kawartha 50, very few people do. my most recent trip on pigeon in september produced a 37 and a 45.75. if you are breaking 45 on the kawarthas you are doing good. If you wanna catch musky, fish pigeon..its absolutely loaded with skis and no pike to compete to boot!

just went to Seattle Washington this past weekend for a quick trip to see it..Incredible city, the nicest ive been to in the USA. They've got this stuff figured out perfectly. Shop location in a perfectly nice neighborhood, totally unassuming, Windows were postered over with graphics as to not advertise the product to children and the like... walk in, get ID'd immediately by a nice gentleman. Get to the counter, the selection of products is incredible and the enterpreneur behind the counter is about as nice of a retail sales associate as youd ever meet (good luck with this at the LCBO) Guy explains all of his products, provides us with information about the THC levels in all of the products. Ensures that we are getting product that wont render us useless/anxious/tired we select a few packaged edible selections which were absolutely delicious and once again totally unnasuming. By packaged, i mean the cookies looked like Mrs. fields with a logo and everything. I was notified that the local "famous bakery" is actually the supplier! He says "not many people know this lol" Complete the transaction and consume. Everything neat, proper, legal and better than any LCBO experience I have ever had. The product was exactly as he described, we relaxed, rode a ferris wheel, ate some street eats, had a ginger beer, shared a lot of laughs and went to bed. Woke up the next day feeling 100% normal. Tell me why this needs to be so strictly regulated again and controlled? Let the entrepreneurs create businesses and grow the economy, stop handing everything to government regulated monopolies and unions.

expensive, but heavily consider a Blue Top Optima battery...when I was in the "car world" these were the go to for guys running serious electronics in their cars. The best part about them is that you can flip them any which direction do whatever you want and with them and they hold up. My experience with cheaper energizer and the like batteries hasnt been great. The life span on them is a bit shotty and they also require a lot of care when it comes to making sure that they dont freeze etc. We lost 3 batteries last winter after a power outtage during a cold snap caused temperatures in our storage area to get below -30 and that was a wrap on our deep cycle marine batteries. Just my two cents... -
nice report, some beauty scenery

A tough week for our friends down south

ya and president obama is an african american...of course there are people who overcome, but not everyone is going to be a super star, nor have the intelligence to start a succesful business etc. My father grew up on a farm with no money, joined the military to put himself through school and is now a very successful businessman. So i know exactly what it means to do "it the hard way" but expecting everyone to have that kind of drive, intelligence, and work ethic is a bit far fetched. God I know i dont have the same drive that he has, nor will i ever make a 10th of what he does. The crack epidemic was inadvertently funded by the US government. This shouldnt come as a surprise as they more recently funded the taliban as well. Theres definitive proof that the CIA was funding the contras and then cut funding which caused them to turn even more heavily to the production and distribution of cocaine for funding. You can then move onto all sorts of theories about CIA operatives assisting with the distribution of the stuff...which in some regards is a bit crazy, but in another point to say that the police, DEA and government in miami in the 80's was a group of straight shooters is a total stretch. Perhaps its difficult for you to understand the term "cages" but anyone who has an affiliation for hip-hop culture and music understands the reference. The cages refer to the projects in every major metropolis in the United States that are full of African American's whos grandparents were forced to live in such areas. In some ways it seems like you think the issue with African American's, crime, the incarceration rate and every other social issue facing them is due to laziness? The nice thing is that at least in todays society, for the most part there are more avenues available to african americans, however to deny white priviledge is wrong. This is all happening in a country where its totally socially acceptable to proudly fly the confederate flag... -
Need Guide June 6th @ Lake Temagami! OR BOAT RENTAL

having just spent 2 days fishing lakers on riggers, Bill is bang on about them not pulling the clip. I use long clip lines and try set my scotty clips as light as humanly possible to the point that an extra crank on the rod releases the clip and the buggers still rarely pull the clip. It takes a lot of concentration to spot the wobble on the rod tip but out of the 5 fish we had on, only one popped the clip. Weve caught multiple lakers simply pulling up lines to switch spoons and realizing that we were dragging a fish. -

hate to break it to you...but have you ever heard of watergate? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CIA_involvement_in_Contra_cocaine_trafficking crack cocaine was an epidemic in the American Ghetto. good for you, you were raised with a solid morality. Cant say the same for the huge number of children growing up in poverty with lack of guidance. Kids turn to gangs out of neccesity. Read the book "monster" by sanyika shakur, he describes the reason for turning to a gang was that he never wanted to be the victim of crime again. Once again, white people put the african american people in cages and now this is the ugly reality that we face. I never once said that they cannot overcome...but pointing the finger and expecting easy solutions is not a great answer either. The issue is far far more complex than laziness or being "inherently bad" -

AKRISONER replied to BassMan11's topic in General Discussion
its not about being racist, its about the fact that this cycle that you are describing exists because white people started it. The problem is that now they are stuck in this very same struggle. The gang culture and a drug trade that was funded by the United States government holds things in place. Its not easy to come up with solutions, but it is easy to point the finger and say "you should do better" -

AKRISONER replied to Tjames09's topic in General Discussion
for your reference Tjames, i spent an entire day 12+ hours up on georgian bay using a minkotta 50lb with an energizer marine battery, we had the 14 foot tinner with 2 guys, a casting deck loaded with gear and the battery still had a quarter power left after 12 hours. -

to be honest ive found the complete opposite up on georgian bay. We are catching a heck of a lot, just not getting the size like we did before. -

speaking form experience, ive got a 50lb bowmount on my 14 foot tinner...it will get you around pretty good. If you are trying to troll though i wouldnt recommend it. How much would a 4 horse set you back? If you are looking to cover ground use the 4 to position yourself and let the wind do the work. Thats what i do half the time with the bowmount anyways. -

a good statement, but what it doesnt touch on is the fact that white people forced black people into "cages" where lack of hope runs deep. You bet that baltimore is full of crime, and you can bet that black people are involved in a dispraportionate amount of crime...why? cause thats where these people are born and raised, their grandparents were forced into the ghetto with no jobs and no opportunities. As biggie smalls says "you either selling crack rock or you got a wicked jump shot" Its easy for us to sit back and say "black people should get their asses up and get jobs" how about if there are no jobs available, how about if your parents are unemployed addicted to crack (funded by Ronald Regan and the contras) Do you honestly stand a great chance? you cant put yourselves in these peoples shoes. The cycle is deep as can be, and I dont personally have the answers on how to solve it. Its hard to say that a kid with a dad in jail and his mom working 4 crappy jobs is gonna work at mcdonalds for minimum wage when there is easier money to be made in the streets. Thats the reality of the urban ghetto.
