  1. for my money i would run the yamaha hdpi though they tend to run about 2mph slower wot than the e-tec or optimax, they have the best reliability record. i seen a lot of issues with E-tec's but usually in the larger hp, brp will eventually get it ironed out. most of the guys i have seen running 60-90hp e-tech's love em and don't report any major issues. I like the black motors, good runners very few problems i have seen with stock engines. you can also look at the merc verado believe they make a 175 that is also a good engine and the fastest of the four strokes.   3. my thoughts on okuma are that I wouldn't insult my golf clubs smashing them through a field, save a little more cash and get a good shimano diawa or abu garcia

I have caught lots of smallies off the piers in the area, slow and natural colours always worked for me, with all the gobys a brown/purple strink king coffee tube dragged slowy on the bottom, carolina rigged senko styles baits, sinking cranks like a cc rattlin spot have produced for me in that area for years crankem in let them fall reaction strike on the fall . and as mentioned it's hard to beat live bait on these pressured fish, also there is many different bait fish spawning in the shallows right now the fish most likely have had a full belly and not intrested in a meal

  6. have zero problems with getting up on plane, and yes a 45 angle is what i am talkin bout, the boat still has the same top speed and it all works perfectly
  7. make sure you break it in before you start doing any adjustments. Is this the 3cyl carbed engine? if so it'll have a tough time trolling down anyway don't know why but the 3cyl yams and mercs don't like to troll right down in the 40hp range , instaslled a trolling plate on a merc noew its perfect the only mod made was to file out a half position on the plate so we still have steering control
  8. lures break when you bounce them off rocks and other hard stuff, i have broken raps, storm,heddon matzuo and other lures banging off rocks docks ect, i just buy new ones. As for being blown off rapala isn't under any obligation to replace a lure that you broke, and as for customer care, ifr rapala gave lures away to everyone who broke it and complained that just opens the door to rusty hooks snags lost lures ect how long would they be in business? Suck it up and buy a new lure

I have had both and just laid to rest a old motorguide that was 15 years old. if weight is a concern the MG seems lighter, as far as performance i have noticed ,overall there comparable. my opinion is the minn kota pedal feels nicer to work either cablesteer or powerdrive. I just installed a 65lb maxxum on my ranger and it moves the boat around great and chops through lily pads and cabbage with no issues and the minn kota seems quieter than the mg. what style of fishing do you want to do? if your going to to it all, casting ,trolling, slop ect then the powerdrive style units with auto pilot would be the ticket for you, if your gonna stick with the slop fishing ect i would use the cable steer
  10. might be done in 15 years, you can take 7 to peterborough from the 407 but depending on the hour the 401 east in the morning is pretty good and fast from scarborough out just watch for the radar all along this corridor in the am
  11. Cliff the problems with the hds units were a software issue that was taken care of with a simple download, and that was the first units in canada just to get them out to the shows.
  12. all depends on your budget cliff, with the bigger screens you can split gps fishfinder functions and still easily read the screen. right now i am saving my pennies for a lowrance hds 8 unit thout the bnird 1157 or 997 are in the running as well. I have had about 8 graphs and had real good luck with the lowrance unit though they are a little$ I still have an old x-60 that works perfect, the lower line eagles i have had nothing put issues with.

  14. it's actually against the law to fill/top up a leaking system clean air act of 1990. as for the ripping off remarks 900 is the average a/c repair bill and it has nothing do due with old vehicles the parts cost the same as new ones. and if you can put a condensor in a montana van in minutes well i hire you right now

  16. I have a couple compres and a couple premiers there both good rods it'll come down to which one you like, i prefer the feel and weight of the st.croix
  17. i almost always gun it out of the hole to get it on plane then back off, almost zero wake from the boat, if i try and go easy it chews fuel and leaves a fairly large wake (not to mention it's no fun either)

  19. i rode from mid november to the end of march this past winter, we have about 200 km trails we make ourselves, the lake and ofsc trails on the otherside of the lake, so we get lots of good riding

  21. have an apex here and it's been worked over alittle around 155hp and a stage3 clutch kit bigger sway bar ect, get some shoulders with that one
  22. on my yamaha sled i notice i get a lot of waves I have a hyundai tiburon i use for commuting and get the wave or light flash from other tib drivers, but the car is sllightly modified as well with stainless headers, cai and fuel tuner as well as a 2" ball for towing
  23. as usual we all go buy a bunch of stuff every year to expand or replace our fishing gear and thought i would share a couple things with everyone. On my boat I mounted cooks tackle orginizers under two of the hatches- these thing are great i hang all my spinner/buzzbaits and pitchen jigs on them with the pack of shower rings I hang bags of plastics . I also mounted retractable rod straps on my boat again very good product as the rod locker in a older 18ft ranger isn't good for much other than safety equipment (or i go back to 6ft rods) had the boat in some very bad water and no problems like them much better than my velcro rod savers. berkley amp rod- for 35 bux had to try it, one piece it's light and senstive but a little wippy not much backbone i use it for lindy rigging works good in that app for me rapala type-R 7'2" trigger mh rod- ok this has to be the value rod of the year it's feels everybit as good as any of my crucials or carrot stixs, st.croix and it's $90 put a new abu garcia revo sx in use wow what a reel 11 bearing smooth as silk and casts like a bullit it feels everybit as good as my chronarchs but a bit heavier with a quicker spool. for lures the only real new thing for me is Strike Zone Dart worms played with these in a tank can't wait to drop shot these for some buckets.
  24. will your 115 troll down to 2.5 mph? if so your fine for the big lakes salmon/trout. As for equipment I always preferred big john electric units and shimano tdr rods with diawa sealine reels but that is a complete other debate. Your best bet would be to get a salmon charter out for the day with a couple buds and pick the captain brain see how he sets up the boat and runs his lines and see if you actually like that style of fishing
