all makes of dfi engines are complicated and require diagnostic software to properly diagnose (just like most of todays cars) much better to pay a place an hours labor for a sound diagnosis then trying to throw parts at it that may require a new powerhead

there is all kinds of tins stashed around the kawarthas in the remote trout and bass lakes never thought it was illegal, just made it easier to pack in a trolling motor and battery and leave the canoe at home

When do you shut it down for the Winter?
ecmilley replied to jedimaster's topic in General Discussion
when i am breaking ice at the launch or the first sled trails open -
most likely a bad axle or engine mount. as for burning oil and loss of power get a compression test done on the engine, change your pcv valve and drop a litre of lucas oil stabilizer in it seen many hyundai/kia engines make it way farther than this with out to many issues

Rotten Egg Smell In My Well Water (non-fishing)

just like the jehovah's gotta show up and try and make me believe what you believe. I remember the times when a part of fishing was the ability to share and enjoy it if you felt like it, now everyone gets ragged on for keeping a couple bass or walleye or god forbid a musky. I'll keep fish as a feel and don't worry about what the yahoo's think so long as i abide the law. as I recall I have never yet had anyone refuse a plate of fresh walleye yet, pretty sure most of the people offended by catch and keep just can't catch dinner

circuit board is a possibility for sure also armature and brushes, try tapping the motor see if it starts spinning, is there a lighted direction arrow in the head? if so its wired to the motor usually if its turning on when you press the pedal it a problem between the head and motor if not look at circuit board

for what its worth i has p metric tires on my ranger trailer and it was all over the road, i put proper trailer tires on and it tracks much smoother down the road. the tire has a max psi rating for a reason overinflating can be dangerous as the tire heats up it's internal pressure will go up and so does the heat and it can result in a sudden tire failure. unless the guy behind the counter has an egineering degree the advice of placing pressure above the rec max pressure on the tire placard is not only dangerous and irresponsible itis a good way of getting around selling you the wrong tire

http://www.ehow.com/about_5552521_trailer-tires-vs-car-tires.html not a huge difference but read this

how's is ir running when it's running? several things are possible, when you run out of gas on these it doesn't make the vro unit happy the mixing device is vacuum operated and the oil piston will still be pumping oil even if theres no fuel, it can be a bit of a chore to get it to start and run again, is the primer bulb staying hard when the engine is running? i have to squeeze the bulb in my vro equipped engine for 2-3 minutes to clear all the air once it is running again or it won't get off idle and then the plugs could be fouled from oil anyway. have you touched anything under the cowl? there is a primer solenoid/vapor pump has a valve with a red tab on it make sure the red tab is down or it'll dump fuel like crazy not starting- again check the fuel bulb could be some leaks draining the carbs or fuel pump and causing excessive crank times. also possible stator is starting to go when hot can't create enough ignition voltage on the power coils

i can't see it well enough but it does look like a old internal regulated alternator. see if there is voltage on thos teo wires with the unsealed crimp connectors, marine use and unsealed wires is asking for trouble
-
many gm alternators in that year and even my 81 z28 had a internal regulator, small square plug on the alt is usually external reg and a small flat rectangular plug is usually internal. for the internal its easy to check turn key on and there should be power at the fields and sensing wires, if you have voltage the alterntor is done. you could always try tapping it with a hammer may be sticking brushes as well

Grant at boat tech is a great person to deal with. just did my motor burn't brushes and aramature, i reapired it myself at a cost of 120 for aramature, brushes, brush plate abd seal kit. what is yoor motor doing? is the direction light working on top of the head?
