Talon lake is pretty decent for smallmouth bass. Fish the shorelines with the most amount of wood and deeper water. There a few weed beds in the lake and evenings you may be able to get into some walleye around these. Jig and leeches work well. Your not too far from North Bay. Trout Lake marina is close by has live bait and you can pick up worms and leeches there. Fish those same weedbeds with spinnerbaits for pike. Losts of boats troll the shoreline around the mid lake point and seem to catch a mixed bag Also some pretty decent lakers there but hard to catch

Based on your schedule Toronto 4-5am you''l find a decent liquor/beer store right on the main drag in Temagami. Probabl. Once you hit town look for the grocery store on your left hand side in the middel of town. Liquor store right next to it. Next stop would be New Liskerd both beer and liquor store there too. Beer store is just off #65 and #11 There is a Liquor store/beer store combo in Elk Lake too! Just off of Lake street as you come into town Go to google maps and type in Beer store or Liquor Store and location Elk Lake Ontario or Temagami. They provide the phone numbers so you can call ahead and check hours. The one in Temagami stocks a fair bit of cans which is the choice by far for fly in or fihs camps. Takes up less space, more beer per unit and after 6 you get to crush them on your head.

Longer drive but usually good selection is Fishing World in Hamilton I was just in at Bronte Outdoors and they have some basic stuff. If you know what you want They will try and get it for you. Bronte's looking for some rod pods for me.

Nice spoon - looks like most of them now cast of the NK or Luhr Jensen concept Bronte has been very good this year. Colder water has pushed in and stacked up the alewife west end of the lake. Both Bronte and 16 mile creek are chock full of alewife. As long as we keep the cold water on this side the kings should stick around a bit longer. Also check out At the Oak website. American side stuff run by charter captain and the harbor master. They're always 1-2 years ahead of the pack with techniques and new spoons. Hot spoon on the south side this year has been Dreamweaver Super Slim. Looks like the old school lite flutter spoons are coming back. I had a SS down for only 10 minutes last weekend and it fired on a 17 lb king. Now if I could only find some Daredevil Flutter Chucks!!!!

Mike I've order parts for my downriggers through these guys sevral time. I found shipping was a tad high but prices and hard to find stuff made up for those charges. Everytime I need a part I usually pick up a lure or 2 just to make shipping $ better deal Anyone with downriggers should check this site out. They have a great parts page and have the schematics for easy reference. Stuff is at my door within the week.

RF one of the easy ways to find walleye in a weed choked lake is the find the deepest weed free water and then work back into the weeds. Find the weedline and work up and down the edges. Fish should be off the spawn now and setting back up on the closest weedlines. I fish this method in the spring and it has paid off on many different bodies of water. You can fish parallel to the weedline with jigs, minnow baits and spinners. The brighter the day the closer you need to get into the weeds. My fav is casting jigs into the weed edges and working back out into cleaner water. A small 4" Berley Power worm has been a good bait for me on a 3/16th oz jig head. When you work a stretch and get a few bites, you can anchor off the weedline and fish a little slower. You'll also run into some good schools of panfish doing this.

Was just in Princess Auto (Mississauga) and saw a fairly extensive selection of Aluminum tubing on the back wall. Never noticed this before and made a note to go back and check it out when I have more time. Looking to build me a carp rod pod.

Yep Lew, Actually quite comfy. In colder weather you'd be best to add a thermal foam pad. I found it a little cold close to the floor. I've also been looking at these and found a offbeat Bed,Bath and Home place called Jysk. They sell the standard Green cot, identical to the one at BPS for $49. Launched out of Oakville and set up in 80 FOW. Noticed dark clouds way off to the south so it would be a quick fish. Had a 4 rod spread spoons and SD/fly on both sides of the boat. 15 minutes later deep rod went off 87 ft down over 140. New Dreamweaver Super Slim coyote color. heard alot about these from US side Fat 31"er for Team 13 KMB. First one of many hopefully this year surface temp from 50 to 160 FOW was 43.8C No bait out deep but tons of surface activity - Alewife??? out to about 30ft Got poured on for next hour and called it quites

Boy I wonder how much money a weekend in there would bring in for the next OFC auction. I'd start the bidding at $250 Makes me really miss the outpost cabin in Diamond Lake. This is the first year in about 10 that I don't think I'll get there fishing.

I put in 2-3 hours at CCIW on Saturday. Went home minus 2-3 lbs of corn and 2 lb of ground. Not even a bump. No carp visible in shallow sections. Yes agreed, water still a little cold for lake ontario and close bays. Maybe some inland ponds like Centennial park??? Anyone fish there?

Wayne they'll ruin a garden faster than anything. I have a very quiet crossbow and will be willing to help you out. Would hate to see good money spent on flowers get eaten.

If you catch the fish it counts on your limit even if you "gift it" to anyone else with or without a license. You catch 2 trout and gift them, legally your done till those trout are consumed. The CO's watch very closely on Simcoe for the passing on of daily trout and whitefish. If your in a group of 4 and you personally catch 4 whitefish and keep them all they can not be counted on other licesnses in your group. Strange one Wayne The older CO from Sudbury that rides with Bear Island OPP boat tells a completely different story. Each license catches their own fish for limits no gifting allowed. Some anglers at the camp have been questioned hard last couple of years on the hub as they see the guys out fishing but no wifes. Had them on the dock a couple times talking to guests.

One of my first part time jobs was working at The Outdoors Store in Dixie Mall. Right after I started it changed to Collegiate Sports but we still kept a very large footprint in the store with fishing, hunting and camping. I worked a couple of sportmans show for them and one year was set up right beside the scuttlebutt lodge display with Red Fisher signing his books of poetry. What a character. WM For the type of fishing you describe, I've had good success with the following Black leach type jigs - Berkley Jigworm #1 for me Also have been catching a number of walleye on 4" dark colored senkos. In deeper water I rig them on a jig head or carolina rig. These have caught some bigger summer walleye for me when fishing smallmouth Started getting fish on Xraps and another fav is the rattle baits too. Cast to shore structure for covering water I never leave the dock without a bottom bouncing rig and worm harness, Orange and white blades have been the ticket last couple of summers. On Temagami we target 25 ft depths in July/August and a little shallower in the back lakes. If you're up there in May-beg June give the east end of Shiningwood bay a try. The north shoreline towrds the end of the bay gets a fair bit of fish after the season opens. They're scattered through there so trolling or drifting is a good bet. Walking sinker and floating jig head tipped with minnow of worm.

MF For sure something I'd really like to try. Got the mouth calls which drive the wife nuts. Just never have been able to make the committment on scouting to find a spot and birds. My brother just bought 9 acres north of hamilton and has seen a bunch of Jakes - must be some toms around too. Maybe 1 of these years - it's hard to break tradition for me same spot 22 years running now!

Water was super clear and fish were very tight to cover. Worms, roe and 2 fish on a #10 stonefly pattern. All fish were spawned out and many heading back downriver through the morning. Bite was on till about 9 am then it went very quiet. This one was very long and had a big chunk out of the side. Around 28" maybe all of 5 lbs though nice color this was a battler, many jumps and took me through 2 log jams, Well I don't think there'll be anything left in the river for next weekend so I'm going salmon or crappie fishing
