  1. MoiraRiverMan All a later spawn will do is delay some spearing, with a small amount likley getting mixed up without knowing ideal conditions. outdoorguy61
  2. Shows like any type of entertainment product, change or evolve over time. This has in itself seen entertainment related products have regional, national or perhaps international appeal. Shows often try to appeal to a certain market or demographic, but by and large still remain largely regional in Canada, mainly due to our geography. Red Fisher achieved trully national status as has Bob Izumi, and to some degree Fishin Canada, Canadian Sportsfishing and Real Fishing. Most are regional with the occasional foray into some outside locale. Our market is very small as a country, when compared to our neighbour to the south. Most of the answers you will get in a search or a question here, will reflect its audience; ask the same question and get a different answer in a different part of the country or continent. Just some quick thoughts. outdoorguy61
  3. Knockoffs and copys have been going on since before fishing tackle went big....post WW2. There has also been an equally age old item whereby, a large vender like BPS is able to get a manufacturer to build an item at their specs. in order to control margin and separate markets. Has anyone noted the package by chance? This can often speak volumes if one reads through it carefully. outdoorguy61
  4. It is apparently popular in California. I would suggest using something they have done as a possible reference point. I had heard of something done on the west coast of Vancouver Island but did not hear about anyone attending. That said....kayaking seems huge here. I trully wonder how some supposedly reel in say a halibut (any that I have caught have been in 180-200 ft), with a few photos I recall seeing online making me wonder. It sounds workable. I wish you well with it....I got a sit on top late last summer and am anxious to try it for some kokanee in a few weeks. outdoorguy61
  5. Those were the biggest bass photo's I have seen in the last few years. Thanks for posting them. They make the bass here in BC seem like dwarfs. The biggest I have seen here in BC is over 8 pds. Legend has it that there is some over 10 pds, but I have yet to see a photo I would bet on. outdoorguy61
  6. That was interesting to see. I have one or two of his book of poems (there were two made from what I have seen). I had not heard of the album but will now look for it. I got to meet hime twice and was in some limite correspondance with his son at one point as I wanted to find out whatever happened to the film set used. I never did find it, but sure would have liked to. outdoorguy61
  7. It might sound far fetched, but I seem to recall listening to a presentation about trout fishing in the mountains of Costa Rica. If this was correct, that is the option I would have to explore, given its unique location. outdoorguy61
  8. If you are serious about rain, take a peek at a Frog Toggs product. Cost effective and it works. outdoorguy61
  9. Fotress Lake in Hamber Provincial Park/BC. It can be googled. Flyin or backpack with brookies being the target species. outdoorguy61
  10. Congratulations. It is good to see a young person enjoying some healthy competition. outdoorguy61
  11. Thanks for the report. I wantd to fish there myself last summer and got a bit side tracked with a work related show in Vegas. It sounds like an interesting spot. outdoorguy61
  12. I tried swet and sour carp about five years ago at a wild game dinner in Napanee, and was pleasently surprised. I would try it again. outdoorguy61
  13. My regards to you and your family. outdoorguy61
  14. Cougars are extremely tricky to see as a general rule. I have lived for many years in areas with cougars including higher than average population densitys, but have only seen the odd track and one confirmed siting. A common thing to happen is for small pets like cats and small dogs to begin vanishing. If someone is really serious about finding a cougar and has a fairly fresh site/region as reference, there is a very easy way. Simply get a "dogger" to tree it. It can be done fairly fast and is the most efficient method. It is simple. One associate of mine got his first using this method within the past two winters if memory serves me correctly. About every other year, I hear about a cougar injuring a child here in BC, and sometimes stalking people. Overall, I welcome them and feel far safer with them around as opposed to some TDM (thieving druggy misfit). Hopefully this will not offend many, but I do get frustrated at how a few sitings can twist things around. outdoorguy61
  15. I began using Spiderwire Fusion two winters ago and really liked it on the Bay of Quinte. Better hooksets with no stretch for the depths and current, seemed to function well under cold conditions. Just another two cents. outdoorguy61
  16. There was a case in Kingston, where an officer killed a very very well respected and well liked business owner. I believe the name wa Quatrochi sp? and there was a heck of a lot of trouble relating to this with the officer not having lights or sirens or some such things on. I bet it could be googled and it happened about 7 years ago if my memory serves me correctly. outdoorguy61
  17. I hope to duplicate a trip I did there last May with Darren Goodman. He was a fine fellow to fish with and knew the water well. I hope you do well with your trip, as it is one outstanding lake, with a lot of history. outdoorguy61
  18. I would opt for the cheaper option to start as well. Note that the Navionics SD cards can be used with a variety of companys be it Ray Marine, Humminbird, Lowrance, etc. Just a tidbit. outdoorguy61
  19. Aniceguy basically summed it up. I have two. My beautiful Islander (domestic product) and an Aurora (import). You pay more and you will get a better product. outdoorguy61
  20. He certainly captured ones imagination. It does not seem like that long ago......... outdoorguy61
  21. I like the idea of the sasquatch, but am unimpressed with all three uninspired designs. outdoorguy61
  22. Rodelu You have brought up what sounds like an interesting idea. How does this perform and how is it laid out, constructed? outdoorguy61
  23. If using 2 part epoxy, it is very important that both surfaces be clean and a nice fit is secured. This fit should somehow be compressed to make it perform and last better. Just a tidbit. outdoorguy61
  24. I note that the war of 1812 is not listed (the fact that we were not yet Canada is a minor point in defining us as a people) nor is Canada's many peace keeping efforts. Just a quick addition. outdoorguy61
  25. This looks repairable. Sanding with a plug and glue to seal in a nutshell should catch it. Aikmans in Mississauga should be able to do this if you do not have access to someone that works with rods. Oh...and you can also make your cork clean again (it looks filthy....lol) by a wiping it down with a bit of bleach diluted in warm water. Afterwards, wash it down it clear water. outdoorguy61
