Burns Pond Conservation Area off Guelph Line in Moffatt is a place where sunfish-LMB-Crappie-KOI? can be caught. There is no car entry fee with alot of green space/ picnic tables and a walking trail. It can be weedy but the panfish are there & if you need worms there is a house close by that sells bait.....

A woman goes into Bass Pro Shop to buy a rod and reel for her grandson's birthday. She doesn't know which one to get; so she grabs one and goes over to the counter. A Bass Pro Shop associate is standing there wearing dark shades. She says, 'Excuse me, sir. Can you tell me anything about this rod and reel?' He says, 'Ma'am, I'm completely blind; but if you'll drop it on the counter, I can tell you everything from the sound it makes.' She doesn't believe him but drops it on the counter anyway. He says, 'That's a six-foot Shakespeare graphite rod with a Zebco 404 reel and 10-LB. Test line. It's a good all around combination and it's on sale this week for only $20.00. 'It's amazing that you can tell all that just by the sound of it dropping on the counter', she says. "I'll take it!' As she opens her purse, her credit card drops on the floor. 'Oh, that sounds like a Master Card,' he says. She bends down to pick it up and accidentally farts. At first she is really embarrassed, but then realizes there is no way the blind clerk could tell it was she who tooted. Being blind, he wouldn't know that she was the only person around. The clerk rings up the sale and says, 'That'll be $34.50 please.' The woman is totally confused and says, 'Didn't you tell me the rod and reel were on sale for $20.00? How did you get $34.50?' He says, 'Yes, Ma'am. The rod and reel is $20.00, but the Duck Call is $11.00 and the Bear Repellent is $3.50.’ .

Another way to get some tackle cheap is to check out garage sales or maybe The Salvation Army where in some cases you can get full tackle boxes especially at garage sales as my brother has picked up a couple of tackle boxes & a few rod/reel combos for a very reasonable price.......

Few years ago I was at a liquer store in Oakville & a group of girls from a soccer team was doing their fundraising (begging) outside the store when approached & I asked them what they needed the money for & it was for out of town road trips. I then asked where they were from and said they were from Mississauga and not Oakville so I said good luck but did not contribute to their cause but I would not have donated even if the girls were from Oakville since that type of fundraising is something I do not agree with.......

Hi Keith, The narrows are marked but going slow you will have no problems as boats of all sizes pass through the narrows all the time with a bunch of cottages in the area.Raven is deep in spots (130 feet +). Fish like you do on Sand Lake you should get on some fish. Years ago I used to go to Sand lake @ Sandhurst when ex-Leaf Ron Ellis & his family owned & operated Sandhurst. Martin

I have a cottage on Raven Lake.Where the camp is located is Deer Lake which is connected to Raven Lake through a shallow narrows with a bunch a large rocks but if you go slow in the boat you will be OK. Each year for the past five years or so - Deer Lake has produced 5 lbs + largemouths. Raven Lake has Lake Trout/Splake as well as smallmouths and largemouths which along with Rock Bass somehow ended up in Raven about 15 years ago (invasive species ?). The lake is definitely deep & in order to fish for Lake Trout/Splake you need to get down at least 35 feet in Raven (try trolling in front of the Raven's cliffs)no trout in Deer as it is too shallow since the lake was formed by damming. No pike in Raven with the nearest Pike lake being St Nora (one lake south of Raven on 35)& lakes south towards Minden on hwy 35. Lake of Bays & Paint Lake also have pike. Good luck with your treatments & your fishing (you should do OK). If you have any questions - You can send me a PM. Cheers

It is against the law to kill sportsfish such as pike or rockbass. Back in the mid90s The Lake of Bays had serious problem with the over population of rock bass & a summer long derby was held - Originally Tower Hill Marine in Dorset offered a pit to put the rockbass in but were not allowed too as it was against the law to dispose of ganmefish this way. So the caught rockbass were given to a game sancuary were black bears were cared for. I believe well over thirty thousand rock bass were disposed of this way. A couple of young anglers caught over 10,000 rockbass each as there were prizes given out for the most fish caught & brought in.Freezers were used until the fish were transported in the game sancuary.

Last game of the season for both teams is in Toronto - The Habs will probably have a playoff position secured by then but for The Leafs who knows. So it could/should be an interesting game if the game means a playoff position for either Toronto or Montreal........
