Picked up "The Total Fishing Manual" by Field & Stream at my local Walmart in their discounted book table with the regular listed price of $29.99 & discounted 40% off so sale price was around $18.00. Lots of good hints/thoughts (317) on tools-techniques-tactics-lures-bait etc. A good book for someone just starting to learn how to fish as well as for a fisherperson who has several years of experience.

Good to see NHLers are going to Yellowknife as a charity game in Thunder Bay got cancelled recently for the lack of NHLers & exNHLers? who did not commit to the game and come to Thunder Bay.There were some NHLers but not enough to make it worth while to put a game on.....

A big Muskie was caught in Montana & the fish was a state record for a Tiger Muskie @ 38 lbs 12 oz caught on September 02, 2012....

Mario Lemieux was only 21 when playing in this series so he may have been the last active player from this series. Watched the game tonight Team Canada did alot of dump & chase hockey whereas The Russians skated the puck over the blue line in order to keep puck possesion for the most part.

There are boat launches on The Lake of Bays @ Baysville-Dorset-Dwight, just pick the town where you want to boat from - all have easy access & parking....

A few observations I've noticed at my cottage near Dorset : Every spring I put up hummingbird feeder and on a couple occasions in the spring when the feeder has not been put up yet one or maybe two hummingbirds will hover outside the livingroom window and look inside as if to say "Hurry up & fillup the feeder and hang it up - We're Hungry". There are two birds that have been coming back for a few years now & it is interesting on how they feed off the feeder.One hovers beating his/her wings with the other one using a perch with no wing action.Both use the same feeder hole each time not going to the other's ones.There are two feeding openings. One summer a couple of years ago with the deer & horse flies out in full force - I had a horse fly buzzing around my head when walking along a path to the lake when one of those big 4 winged purple coloured dragon flies came out of no where & grabbed the fly and then landed on my arm (I stopped walking) and proceeded to eat the horse fly before flying away. Once out on a boat ride I approached an island where there was a short distance to the mainland but in the distance I saw what looked like some sort of lake monster ? since it had a head and shoulders with 3 humps behind it.When I got closer it turned out to be a mother racoon with 3 baby raccons swimming behind their mother in single file. I once put some old looking cold cuts from the fridge for a raccoon who came by nightly but I did this in the afternoon so later that day I hear a thump on the roof - So what the heck made that noise ends up a turkey vulture landed there & then moved down to the deck and hopped over to the meat but a raven was with the vulture so it could be the raven followed the vulture since they have a keen sense of smell & they shared the spoils.....

Never know what might bring in a Lake Trout or any fish for that matter. A few years back my brother was fishing for smallies with a leech & let out alot of line which ended up going quite deep and brought in a Lake Trout......

Had a look at The Hayes Pond today - Just a very shallow puddle now as it looks like a water source in an African Desert with a bit of water and cracked dirt/soil around it & with the hot weather recently in a week or so there will be probably no water left.......

I think you can renew through an Ontario Govt Kiosk at a shopping centre.....

The price of the operator card sure has gone up over the year (close to 60 dollars) as I paid only twenty dollars back in 2000 at The Ontario Sportsmen Show through the Better Boating Company......

Once you have solved your mouse problem - Make sure you do a good clean up of the cold room as mice poop & piss quite abit......
