  1. Dan C enemy of Lamprey everywhere. Thanks for the report and at least you caught some fishing under tough conditions.
  2. Ive never been to the island but have been to Labrador a couple of times. Greatest people in the world. The first time out there I had truck problems that happened on the drive up. We arrived on the Saturday and after buying our fishing licence the truck wouldnt start. Got towed to the dealership in Wabush and set up camp there for the weekend. I think every single person who owned a toolbox in the twin cities there came and tried to fix the truck. Never asked a cent some brought beer. Couldnt fix it, but Ill never forget the way people went out of their way for us.
  3. Leaving in about an hour for Algonquin.
  4. I know a pool on private property that hardly anyone knows about. I think I'll grab a bag of marshmallows and go hit it up. Dont worry when I post photos all background will be cut out.
  5. One instance that comes to mind for me was snorkeling in a clear northern lake with my son. We came upon a huge smallmouth at least 22" . He just sat motionless in the water finning and giving us the stare down. After about 10 seconds he starts to move away. I stuck my hand out and wiggled my fingers. His fin flared and he charged right up to within a foot of my hand. Then backed off. Beween my son and I we got him to do this several times before it got bored and dissappeared into the deeper water. What I got from it is that fishare curious and will check out anything strange but if an object is in the size range of their prey they will react in an aggresive feeding manner. So most important I always try to follow the fly fishin match the hatch pattern even when not flyfishing. In order of importance. SIZE then SHAPE then COLOUR.
  6. Mike thats my favourite bucktail for the kawarthas Got my second largest on it on Katchawanooka. A 47 incher heres a pick. Had a big crowd for this one some touristy big sight seeing boat came by right as I hooked it everyone gathered at the rails and I held the fish up for them and got a round of applause
  7. Thank you for putting yourself between us and the bad guys.
  8. I've been hitting the same lake every year for opener now for the past six years and we have found the fish to be on shallow rocky shorelines. We will fish a Doc at one end of the boat and a bulger type bucktail at the other. A Bomber LongA will also get wet. We have found that the musky really prefer the long slim profile at this time of the year.
  9. Beckman, savesa ton of wear and tear on the fish
  10. 47" is a lot of pike. That was a great report. Thanks for taking us all along.
  11. Dan ifn you want pike but dont care about size. Puslinch
  12. For Largemouth give me superthick surface slop in two -three feet of water with old trees breaking up the pads here and there. I want it so thick that the average Joe angler takes one look and says anyone would be crazy to fish in there. Call me crazy Ill go in and cover it quick with a jawbreaker spoon with some pork on it. After that Ill slow it right down and pitch a jig and pig to all the logs.
  13. The French is great. Be aware of all the regs in place there and campsites may be occupied depending on how busy it is.
  14. I had asked the question of a CO and he said that personally he would consider any of the powerbaits etc as organic. His opinion he said though and wasnt sure it would hold up in court. Forks of the credit when it comes right down to it is essentially fly fishing only.
  15. Great Report and congrats on the engagement. Kokoko is one of my favourite lakes in Ontario.
  16. Definition of organic derived from living organisms It is some of the materials of which they are made that make them illegal. That is how it was explained to me.
  17. No organic bait like minnows worms powerbait gulp alive etc. Lures with one hook or flies only. There are resident brook and brown trout it is very rare to catch one big enough to harvest.
  18. Trout are there but it is all special regs. Single barbless hook no organic bait. All fish under 19" must be released. Please check your regs before heading out.
  19. In that case 401 east to Milton. #25 north to Hwy 9 turn east. Just before orangeville is veterans way #16 make a left follow it till a fourway intersection turn east this is still #16. Go to the lights. Proceed through the lights you are now on Hockley Valley Road. I beleive first major intersection is #27 airport rd. Take a left follow north all the way to Staynor. Make a right in Staynor onto #26 go east until you see the signs for Wasaga make a left. The popular area of the beach and the mouth of the river is at the far east on the main drag.
  20. 401 east to 407east to 400 north. Exit sign for Wasaga and away you go easiest and if you push the quickest by far. The back way takes forever although its a pleasant drive.
  21. I think I would be a grunion for the mad sex parties
  22. Esocids can be very determined. We had one pulling our canoe around on the Missinabi because it wouldt let go of a walleye on a stringer hung over the side.
  23. That middle one is OINK OINK!!!
