  1. Just because the manufacturer is in the U.S. doesn't mean it isn't occurring in you own back yard folks. Drugs and Alcohol has long been the choice substance/beverage of the overwhelmed masses world wide for many years in the past and I am sure in to the future... Art
  2. Shall we now try to tackle Two, to and too or Weather, Whether? While we are here on this subject is it A, AH, or Eh for a question mark.... Feet and foot are some of the words that can be buggerized by were in the US you live. Crawfish is the correct way to say it Crayfish is what the the people Above the Mason Dixie line say. In all if you understand what the person is saying you got to sometimes ignore the path they took to get their. Art
  3. Salt and sugar are regularly used as a preservative to keep the roe from spoiling. Since both absorb water, it hinders bacterial growth through dehydration. Make sure they have time to absorb the cure before the drying process. (see Brians post above). Art
  4. The majority of the motors that have been manufactured in the last 5 years actually have lower emissions than your car. This is of course a properly maintained engine with no fuel leaks before it is burned. I have a 1989 Johnson 150 that when I bought it was a great source of pollution and it sickened me but after replacing the fuel lines, rebuilding the carburetors, replacing the ignition system and adjusting it the outcome is a very clean fast running boat. It is not as clean as the new motors with computer controls and fuel injection but the price was right and it is more economical than the big boat with twin 318's. Art
  5. Welcome to the board TU Many of the people here would be happy to show you what they know (which is quite alot) and share the expenses of a trip. Look at the people who live close to you and send them a Hello P.M. you can go from their... Art
  6. I am glad you got away and had some adult time with your friends and J.Now you should understand why I want a Roy original for my office its not the paint its the person who did it. Art
  7. I am glad to hear that the memories you have are so deep and memorial and I am glad you shared them with us. The changing of the seasons are always special and to most bring the joy of the harvest from a summers hard work before the winters festivities begin. Art
  8. Do you feel enlightened now Bernie? You got to give a mechanic a better answer than that John if you want to continue the debate. Art
  9. I went to an ethnic store that specializes in Asian ingredients and found a 20 lb bag of sliced and dried shittake mushrooms for $56.00.How long will that amount last your average mushroom ? Art
  10. He will learn that a fish grows the fastest from the time you catch it to the time you tell your buddies how big it is. Art
  11. Chili stain I bet. Art
  12. The amps needed to run a motor that is under normal load is less than 50 amps. Anything that causes the load like loose connections or load on the windings will increase amps.Fishingline on the hub, weeds matts on/in the blade, strong headwinds all make the load on the motor windings greater than 50 amps will blow the fuse. The final load which happens is due to age and it is were the brushes on the armature are worn or cracked due to heat both need to be checked by a mechanic. If you are using a large spade fuse that looks like a car fuse they will corrode in the holder and be the cause of blown fuses. You can switch to a 50 amp circuit breaker that resets manually or one that is automatic. It is available from an auto parts store (NAPA)and is less than 10 dollars here. The process to install it includes 2 #6 lug rings that you splice into the line and nut down to the new breaker. Art
  13. Good for you you can now add a few more years to your fishin list. Art
  14. Actually it had turned into a rip fest far far away from the original posters question. Just like a train wreck you should look away but you don't want to miss the carnage. The other point is if you really want to know the answer to a question about a thread being pulled in the rules #4 it states you should P.M. a mod not start another thread. If you really want to continue it then P.M. the interested parties and go to the chat function. Art
  15. You can undue the coolant hose at the highest point and fill it from their. If the coolant flows from the water intake it would indicate it has reached the rest of the motor. I have not done this on a merc cruiser but it works on an inboard 318 and my outboard motors. I hope someone else can answer and backup my guess or even better give you the Merc answer. Art
  16. Here in the States even while off duty they are required to carry and render assistance in situations were on duty officers are not available. I did not see the Trooper behind the bike with that in light the officers reaction was excessive in the situation but adrenaline sometimes does not boil off quickly enough. I would believe power tripping was in play if the adrenaline factored was not so apparent. All said though without the backround of the officers career the best we can do is speculate and that is not fair to him. Art
  17. Adrenalin poisoning... The real reason why humans go for the edge and beyond. The biker with the law defying stunts and the officer in pursuit. The reaction to excessive stimulus is to release an equal amount of adrenalin to match the situation. It is what man has relied on thru evolution to survive. Art
  18. First off I have yet to have a helmet cam on if I planned to take just a nice putt on the bike. If you were a cop and in 3.34 min you have watched someone made numerous illegal and reckless moves (turns wheelies, solid line crossing excess speed etc.) on a motorcycle forcing you the cop to aggressively pursue them in traffic do you think you would not be a little amped up? The guy got exactly the reaction I would expect from an unmarked police cruiser with an off duty officer with no back up. Art
  19. The ability to bear witness with an electronic device has been a tool of law enforcements for many years down here and used quite successfully in prosecuting wrong doers. Who is holding the camera should not make a difference as long as it is not interfering in a legal process. Art
  20. finally an honest women good job yall. Art
  21. Take a spool of 50 lb plus braid line or a few musky lures they are great for trading or tipping the captain. I had a days charter for 100.oo and 2 lures with a a spool of 50 lb as a tip. Art
  22. I finally got around to going fishing this mornin' - but after a while, I ran out of worms. Then I saw a cottonmouth with a frog in his mouth, and frogs are good bass bait. Knowing the snake couldn't bite me with the frog in his mouth, I grabbed him right behind the head, took the frog and put it in my bait bucket. Now the dilemma was how to release the snake without getting bitten. I grabbed my bottle of Jack Daniel's and poured a little whiskey in Its mouth. His eyes rolled back, he went limp! I released him into the lake without incident and carried on with my fishing, using the frog as bait. A little later, I felt a nudge on my foot. There was that damn snake with two frogs in his mouth! Art
  23. Well they seem to limited to what they can trade with...So far they only accept paper, metal discs and plastic. Art
  24. I think you did the knife and the spirit that lives their good... Art
  25. I think it is one of the old Ted Williams.... o wait never mind thats an outboard motor...It is a nice old reel though. Fun how we all look at it and think it is cool but their isn't a one of us that wishes to give up his new baitcaster to use it. I think it is a classic case of how fast technology has evolved the simple fishing reel. Art
