  1. I saw them when they had the stint on at the Panasonic on Yonge.....I thought they were great.......both theatrically and musically!
  2. Awesome story Roger!!! I was there on Sunday too...in fact I was turning the corner to go down the Gulp aisle when they were taking those pictures with Dave Chong.....I wondered what was going on. I witnessed how great Dave Mercer was with kids when I was waiting in line to meet him....he took time with everyone, but especially the kids. Its a great thing to see!!! Both are true Gentlemen in every sense of the word!!! Dave M must have thought I was a complete doofus.....all I could do when it was my turn was smile and say thank you half a dozen times! DOH Thanks to Roger, Dave and Dave for all they did that day, especially with young Jacob! Things like that make a long drive worth it...I can see why you do it Roger! Thanks for posting this!! Bill
  3. Hi Rizzo, I had a similar problem earlier this year when I mounted mine (Minn Kota Maxxum), though I could get my handle to go in if I worked at it enough.....but if I remember correctly there was a section in the manual for the bracket that mentioned what to do if this happened......I believe it mentioned running a certain size drill through the holes......but best to check the manual. If you dont have one I think I still have mine here somewhere....I could look it up if you like..........just let me know and Ill see if I can find it. Is this like the one you have Rizzo? Bill
  4. WTG Man.....Glad you are my partner for the Rice Lake do........ LOL BTW....my camera is good!! Bill
  5. Awesome fish Shawn.......all of them! I cant believe you got the musky on a worm harness!!! WTG! Bill
  6. I did the exact same thing Prices were better at Boatland.....and so was the salesman. I found the Vaughn dealer was less....um.....attentive for lack of a better word. Bill
  7. Well....if anyone is diving on Sturgeon for stuff and you happen to find a 6'10 compre with a Curado 200DHSV please let me know LOL It went swimming there a couple of weeks ago (long and painful story) and it never came back But too keep the message on topic, I was fishing a creek many years ago and got a toilet seat...... Bill
  8. CLiff.... If you are still looking for aluminum, let me know. Ill see what I have at work when I get back on Tuesday. If I have it....its yours (and I just live up the road ) Bill EDIT: and if you need a hand with it pop me a PM. More than happy to lend a hand
  9. Thanks Roy and LFW for the heads up on the Optimas at Wal-Mart! Sinker...I figured I was worrying too much but still the idea of only being able to run for an hour if I need to does not overly excite me. I found the rubber spacers at BPS last night and I think I might pick some up next time I am there...I only popped in to have a look on my way home. Nope....not a new one....bought it used and got what I thought was a good deal...and thats why I have it. Cost me about $200 less than what a new 12V would have cost me, and I thought that having the little bit extra was the way to go. I know they are pretty good.......but have since found some AGM batteries (similar properties to the optimas...biggest one being no Hydrogen gas when charging) that are much cheaper.....think Ill be going with those. I went and had a look at the Cabela's ProSport II, but it looks like its and AC charger only? The Minn Kota I mentioned is a DC charger and runs when the big motor is running to charge the TM batteries on the fly.....I saw a few like this on the Cabela's site but they were not as inexpensive as the Minn Kota, and although I have the Guest 2 bank AC I thought it might give me some peace of mind to have the DC charger as well. I was going to go with just shims but think I might get the rubber mounts....Does it make sense they would incorporate a little flex there, and leaving less chance of something breaking/cracking later on? That was my thought at least. I dont get out on the GL much but I thought it might be a good idea to be able to take the TM off when I get home......I guess its a peace of mind/paranoia thing again Thanks again to all that jumped in and made their comments!!! Bill
  10. Hiya! Well....getting the boat ready and have a bowmount motor to install.....never done it before and although I dont find it a daunting task, I do have a few questions..... Bowmount is a Minn Kota Maxxum 65lb thrust (24 volt) Batteries: Not sure yet Boat: 16.5 ft Tracker superguide V16dlx I took the motor out of the basement today and set it on the bow of the boat to see how to go about doing this.....looks like I am going to need some shims, as there is an aluminum nose cone on the bow. I have seen some installations that use a sort of rubber grommet, and some that dont. I was just going to cut some stainless steel shims at work (same thickness as the nose cone) and use those.....is that advisable or should I be looking for the rubber grommets?? I was also going to pick up the appropriate Minn Kota quick disconnect mounting plate kit as well, but I still think I would need the shims..... Thats not so much what is bothering me though. The battery situation is where I am somewhat befuddled. I was going to mount the batteries in the compartment under the front casting deck, which is totally enclosed when the hatch is closed. For this reason I had decided that I wanted to get the spiral cell batteries (the optima type), for a number of reasons, of which include: They do not produce hydrogen gas when you charge them (#1 reason) , they need no 'topping up' of electrolyte, and they are non-spillable and can be mounted in any position. However, when I went to CT to buy them this morning I noticed that they are only 50AH, and that bothered me a little. According to the bowmount manual, the motor will draw .75 amps per pound of thrust on the full setting....works out to 48.75 amps.....so to me that means that my batteries will only last me slightly over an hour (total time) if I use the motor on 100%. I have no idea how this motor is going to perform with this boat so it remains to be seen to me how I will be using the motor and on what setting I will be using it on. The dealer recommended a 50lb thrust motor, and this one is 65 so its more than need be, so I would think that I would have less tendency to use it at 100% too... So I guess my real question would be: Are the Nautilus spriral cell batteries sufficient to give me a decent day on the water? Also as a side note, I was considering getting one of the new Minn Kota on board alternator chargers to (In addition to the guest 2 bank charger I bought last year for on dry land) allow me to charge the batteries when the big engine is running. Am I worrying too much? Any help is greatly appreciated!!! Bill
  11. Glad you guys are ok!! I spent some time in Kansas City and so I know what those sirens are like....most eerie sound I have heard....to this day even hearing them on TV makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Bill
  12. 7 shots Rick. I told the cop I was surprised by the fact that it took 7 shots and he told me they had one the night before that took 22! Range was about 30 feet +-
  13. I hit a deer on the onramp to the 400 south from hwy 9 in 2004. The deer came from the ditch on the driver side, and although I swerved to miss it, I caught its back legs.....broke them both and threw the animal over my car (luckily for me. It was a 12 pointer) and into the ditch. The deer was hurt rather badly but I dare not get anywhere near it. I went back to it and it thrashed like crazy. I called the OPP, not because of my car (smashed hood and right fender...bout $700 damage), but out of concern for the deer......Once the officer arrived, I explained what happenend to him, and we went back to the deer. The office shot the deer right then and there (and completely scared the total crap out of a car going by us on the ramp). I think though it would have been more beneficial to the deer had the officer had a larger caliber gun.....but in that situation not much else could have been done. Not sure how anyone could leave an animal like that......its just not fair. Bill
  14. Fisher is owned by Tracker Maverick. Tracker bought Fisher a few years ago, because of their welding technology (or so I was told by my dealer). If you compare some of the Tracker and Fisher models side by side they are identical (or at least they were last year) other that the colours.....I looked at both when I bought mine. Bill
  15. Wendel: Here is mine : 2007 Super Guide V16SC W/ Merc 50hp ELPTO I have owned it for less than a year (got it in June of last year), and with it being my first boat I have nothing to compare it to. I think we got a good deal on it, and after looking at others it seemed to suit our needs better for the money we wanted to spend. It was bought from Boatland Canada, who seem to be a good bunch. They treated us reasonably well so I have no room to complain there either. Had it in for a warranty issue (Motor only.....nothing to do with the boat) and they seemed to be ok in that regard as well. It got used on the Kawarthas last year and a couple of times on Simcoe as well. Overall so far I am pleased with it. I do know that Tracker Marine recently bought Fisher boats for, or so I am told, their welding technology so I would assume that some of the quality issues of the past that people mention would be fixed, but cant say for sure until something happens. Sorry I cant help much more, other than to say we are happy with ours. Good luck!! Bill
  16. I can vouch for the Port Perry launch......best one I saw last year was a guy back the trailer in to launch (un-named bass boat with a 150 on the back). He was in the boat and his buddy was driving the truck. Boat and trailer in water, guy in boat starts motor, lets it run briefly, then puts it in reverse. Boat stays on trailer. Guy gives boat more throttle in reverse......boat stays on trailer. Guy scratches head, full throttle in reverse now...boat is still on trailer ans lots of water everywhere. Guy shuts motor off, and looks over the transom, and after a long raft of rather loud expletives (Family board here...cant repeat them LOL) tells other guy to drive forward. Guy gets out of truck, comes back to boat, un-does the tie downs and removes them, then backs the trailer back into the water. Same procedure again....only this time instead of driving the truck forward, guy gets out of the truck, comes back to the boat, both utter another loud and long tirade of expletives, unhooks the winch, and guy in boat backs the boat off the trailer. Other guy smokes the tires on the truck to get the truck parked, runs down to the dock.....again uttering expletives, and the two merrily make their way up the bog People at the dock were laughing until after I took my boat out and left..... Sometimes its worth the headache to let people go in ahead of you...... Definitely better than any comedy!!! Bill
  17. Gerritt, Thank you! At least I know I am not the only one that feels that way. I am not going to say much here, as like you, my rant would be more than 30 words! Dunno if you watch The Hour on CBC with George Strombolopolous, be he coined a phrase one night that sticks with me, and kind of goes along with what has been said here.....He calls this "The age of innaccountability" and you know.....to an extent I totally agree. If I were to tell you some of the things that go on where I work, and also where my wife works, and, I am sure where many other people work as well, I would think you would agree wholeheartedly. I really enjoyed your post!!! Thanks! Incidentally....Glenn Beck is also a great ranter LOL Bill
  18. Pigeonfisher.... Thats the same reason why I keep my mouth shut a lot of times too Anyway....does not matter if I post the exact location and bait used at my fishing spots.....I dont catch anything anyway Bill
  19. Lundyguy, I suffer the same affliction as you.....in fact its a bit of a joke with us now.. LOL Even today...we hit Rama on the way back from her parents in Orillia and I played a slot that I think was called Big Fish (or something like that....tried it cause it was fishing related).....it ate 10 bucks from me.....my wifes reply was "You should have let me play it!" LOL Glad to know I am not the only one in that boat....um...situation Bill
  20. My wife and I geocache, but admittedly not lately, however its lots of fun and and can be quite edumacational.... For instance....there is a geocache at old city hall in Toronto....I dont remember the name, but its quite interesting (I wont give it away though). Have done a few geocaches, some of which have been removed and fallen from my list however, and even the odd benchmark here and there. Another good resource (to me anyway) has been Ontario Geocaching Association. Its a nice way to get out and see things, and introduces you to things and places you had no idea existed. a good GPS is a must I think. Enjoy!! Bill
  21. FishingGeek.... Geocaching is a lot of fun too....I do it myself (though admittedly not as much as I used to) and if I remember correctly, Barneysbandofgold on the board here does it too. They (geocaches) are all over the place now, and believe it or not it can be very educational as well. I cant speak much for rockhounding though......I have few specimens here that I have picked up here and there but its not something I did on purpose If you are looking for geocaching info.....there is lots here: http://www.ontgeocaching.com/ . Or if you have any questions feel free to shoot me a PM. If I can help out I certainly will! Bill
  22. Ill Keep my eyes open for it Shawn.....I am layed off so Ill be out and about around the 'shwa and surrounding area the next little while. Really sucks that someone would do that......and seems a little coincidental that it wouldnt get caught on tape? Sounds like someone has been casing things out for a while to me. Hopefully you will get it back though, and all in tact. Bill
  23. There was another vid there from the same guy that had the name of the band on there......they are called FLUD (appropriately so ) Amazing vid! Thanks for posting it. I was trying to see what the speedo said but the resolution and video window was too small. Pretty amazing though, and those guys have cojones the size of Texas Bill
