Dozer, now that I have seen a picture of those I am now leaning more to them, thanks, never heard of them.

http://dobynsrods.com/rods/sierra/ Those seem like they have the right stuff to me also.
-
Thanks guys, not real sure what other invasive species they have there, it didn't look like anything we see here.

One of my daughters lives in Florida and sent me this picture she took of a fish from a freshwater lake? Peacock bass? Can't think of anything else myself.

It's one heck of a lot easier to find a casting rod with heavy enough action for the purpose. Just looked at some rod brands and that Diawa was the only one I saw rated to 1 ounce, most ended at 3/4 ounce. Never used lures - baits that heavy here much but it is an indication of how much power a rod has? Back in the 1990's I was in my favorite tackle store here and they had a couple of Falcon flipping sticks ( 7' 6" telescoping ) made with spinning reel handles, I bought one to try out, by the time I got back to the store the other was gone and they were discontinued. I used a 1970's era Abu 507 reel on it, an under-spin.

Those also look like decent rods, but for flipping or pitching around cover the recommended lure weight can be a hint if the rod is going to have a heavy enough action for it?

LOL, even a chance of snow overnight here in the tropics! It's been a strange spring here too, 70f one day 40's the next.

https://www.greatlakesnow.org/2019/02/almost-everything-you-want-to-know-about-lake-eries-walleye-population/ " The Division of Wildlife’s 2018 trawl found 112 walleye per hectare (about 2.5 acres.) That’s the second-highest number on record and far above the 20-year average of 27 walleye per hectare in Ohio waters. Ohio biologists conduct about 40 trawls in the Western Basin. Initial reports from trawls conducted by the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources & Forestry in Ontario waters showed similar results. In fact, Richard Drouin, lead management biologist with OMNRF, said they’re more than happy with the results. “Walleye numbers for us based on our survey are at an all-time high,” he said. “We sampled 36 sites on our side and we use the same protocol as Ohio.” " This just pertains to Lake Erie, the numbers seem to indicate to me that one poor spawn shouldn't affect the population too badly, but you still hope for the best?

AIRX701MHFS That is the Diawa model number for the one I was referring to, 7 foot one piece medium heavy action, 8-17 pound test line, 1/4- 1 ounce lures. I have no personal experience with the rod, but it seems to be in the power range bobowski may need. These guys give a brief review of that series of rods about 10 minutes into this video. I haven't really been able to fish since 2003 , never bought a rod on line or bought a rod that I didn't hold in my hand before using. I haven't bought a rod in 25 years? I have a few older Diawa spinning rods, Heartland series as I recall, and didn't have any issues with those roughly 45 dollar Diawa rods at the time I bought them. Just throwing out options, and I like lower priced ones.

https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Daiwa_Aird_X_Spinning_Rods/descpage-DAXS.html You might check out the bottom one on the list here, it's a Diawa rod and very reasonably priced, they maybe available locally for you? All kinds of options and pricing out there and everyone seems to have their own opinion on what rod feels right to them. I was surprised to see the guys on tactical bass using them because they rarely use any under 100 bucks, they seemed happy with them.

Our weather here in the tropics seems to be running a week or two behind normal. another 10 days until we get over 60 degrees again. Looks like another late start for the farmers.

Be prepared! https://www.amazon.com/Excellante-Aluminum-Colander-Handle-Heavy/dp/B00O8N7ZS0 even has mounting brackets for a chin strap installed!

LOL, it seems like that might have been a better field for that guy?

I tend to take some of the safety claims and unsafe claims with a grain of salt, just my opinion that if you have the right financial backing you can fund a study that might prove anything? This was one that comes to mind, https://www.statnews.com/2017/11/28/multiple-sclerosis-paolo-zamboni/ LOL, that would have worked?

Won’t be long. Good bye hard water

As I recall Wise seats were what I replaced mine with, didn't have any issues with them. https://www.cabelas.com/browse.cmd?categoryId=734095080&CQ_search=boat+seats&CQ_zstype=REG Don't know who makes their seats, but more options?

My crew uses that stuff too, it is sold in a spray bottle here and available at Walmart or most bigger grocery stores.

I had to break down and buy a new stove about 5 years ago and went with a glass top stainless front, my home is all electric. If you have a problem with a burner? you may have to replace to whole top? You probably have to be much more careful not to drop anything heavy on them? No kids or grandkids climbing on counters and walking across the stove top to get at cabinets above it? Quality pots and pans? if they don't sit flat on the surface? I really haven't been able to cook or clean since we got the new stove, my crew handles it, haven't heard of any other complaints from them.

I had a 17 foot aluminum side console, when I replaced my seats I got them from Cabela's and since them and bass pro are now 1 owner? Chances are the selection is pretty much the same? as are the prices?

Yes, sad to see stuff happen to kids! All good here though, although some parts of Ohio had some damage and injuries, haven''t seen any reported deaths here. http://www.cleveland19.com/2019/04/15/shelby-police-chief-takes-responsibility-not-activating-tornado-sirens-soon-enough/

Mike, you can probably debate cause and effect to death. A 2-3 pound Erie walleye can probably eat any smelt that swims, and given a choice? They would probably rather gulp a 6-8 inch smelt than a dozen tiny emerald shiners? Just my experience from the few steelhead I cleaned in the past, emerald shiners, shad, perch in their bellies, if it fits? eat it? It might be interesting to hear what some of the salmon and trout guys find in their bellies if they clean and eat them? This was kind of interesting? https://www.canr.msu.edu/news/how_much_do_lake_trout_and_chinook_salmon_really_eat_msg17_okeefe17 Salmon don't get that big that fast just swimming around?
