  2. https://globalnews.ca/news/4901778/semi-driver-in-humboldt-broncos-bus-crash-had-70-regulation-violations/ Owner of trucking company involved in Humboldt crash charged | CBC News A tragic situation, just from my view if the owner of the company was skirting regulations he is just as guilty as the driver.

  6. Lake Fork is well known as a trophy size bass fishery and the slot limits are designed to keep it one, the thought is the 16 - 24 inch bass are the prime spawners? Even Ohio has slot limit lakes for bass, to encourage bigger than average size fish? " Black bass For largemouth bass, length limit is a 16-24” slot. Bass 16 inches and less or 24 inches or greater in length may be retained. Only one bass 24 inches or greater may be retained each day. For smallmouth bass (if present), minimum length = 14 inches. No minimum length on spotted, Guadalupe, and Alabama bass (if present.) Daily bag limit for all species = 5 black bass in combination. " Lake Fork rules, they apply to everyone? 12. https://www.bareitallpetfoods.com/ " Ingredients: Wild-Caught Asian Carp Fillets " I seem to recall reading that native Americans ( Indians) used to put a fish under their seeds they were planting? Fertilizer? I also feel that them getting into the great lakes would be a serious issue and you have to wonder about the thought processes of the people that allowed them to be brought here?
  13. Lew, I am guessing they missed a zero in that price guess? Bare bones single axle city tractors at fleet prices were more than 40 k when I retired 16 years ago.
  14. Catawba is basically right on shore across from a couple of the Erie islands, so it does get necked down there a bit ketch, but our weather is probably a bigger factor. We have had some pretty serious rain over the last couple of weeks that had some serious wind along with it, that with a few rivers not too far upstream on the lake? That area has had events like that as long as I have been alive. A couple of the best known spawning rivers are in that area and it's probably a staging area for pre spawn fish which makes it a much more popular area? It's really been too warm here for safe ice, I am just guessing but with the rain all of our rivers are probably washed free of ice.
  15. https://fox8.com/2019/03/09/coast-guard-warns-no-ice-is-safe-ice-after-ice-fishing-rescue-by-catawba-island/ It happens pretty regularly in that area, and people never seem to learn from it?

  18. LOL, 11 channels? You are a young guy! I seem to remember 3 channels that all signed off the air around midnight! B/I before internet, a test pattern meant a sure sign of bedtime, unless you were into watching those? Hmmm, doing well? I fall faster than a blitzed quarterback, I may need a helmet for head protection! Too stupid or stubborn to give up on the walking thing though? Hope all is well with you and yours John!

  23. https://www.fieldandstream.com/blogs/the-wild-chef/seven-tips-for-freezing-fish " 5. Who remembers all those waxed milk cartons of fish in your parent’s freezer? Freezing fish in water is a great way to keep it fresh; however, the flesh can absorb water during the process, turning it mushy. Make sure your freezer is set to its coldest level to freeze fish as quickly as possible. "
  24. " Trucks do not to have snow tires, keep your distance from them on the hwy. " I drove a tractor trailer for 30+ years, there is a bit more to that. You generally never know what a truck is carrying unless you can see the load. A moderately or heavily loaded truck will handle much better in bad weather than a lightly loaded or empty one, and even then it has to be loaded properly.
  25. That sounds like an excellent use for carp to me!
