I caught a 28 inch walleye at Pointe Au Baril one year and it weighed 8 pounds on the camp spring scale, my buddy caught one there too that was just over 31 inches and weighed 9 pounds on the same scale. You could see the difference in the fish though, mine was a normal healthy looking fish, his must have been old or not feeding right because it had a big head and a very slim body.

Yep Brian, home since last Thursday night and glad to be here!

Hello all. disappeared due to a sudden hospital stay and I am now in an extended stay rehab - nursing home facility for an unknown period of time. Trying to learn to use a lap top computer, new deal for me and a bit different than my trusty desktop. Hope everyone is well and fishing!

Lake Erie just set a new water level record; ‘catastrophic erosion’ imminent -
Sounds like some one is selling a defective product if the required label fades?

LOL, I live in a rural area and have a septic system also, digging a hole for a new one now would be more like digging a pond, as thunder is booming in the background! Luckily all the bad storms have missed my area so far, LOL I am severely disabled, by the time I could make it into my basement I might be in Oz!

Fish ID help, Largemouth or Smallmouth or Meanmouth Bass.
OhioFisherman replied to limeyangler's topic in General Discussion
As I recall reading in the past, a lot of states, like Texas and California owe the size of some their bass to transplanted Florida bass. Also a non native fish. -
Cando, I can't picture trying to drive a backhoe across the ground here, my son was able to get most of our grass cut over the weekend, but he said in some parts it was like driving over a wet sponge. It poured again yesterday so hard my rain gutters were overflowing, and the ten day forecast here is showing more rain for 7 of the next 10 days. Hope you get some dry weather!

Well we stayed at cabin on Beaver Lake near Erinsville, a family friend and his family had the cabin right next to ours. I don't believe they ever went to the Bay of Quinte to fish, but I do recall us going to another lake in that general area for a day, Devil's Lake. -

The absence of the blue pike and walleye fishing here drove a lot of people from Ohio to Ontario to fish for them, my dad took us to the Kingston - Bellevue area back in 1957 so they could fish for walleye. Even Pointe Au Baril had an Ohio connection, a bunch of people from one or more of the areas businesses had summer homes or cottages there. -

I am going to say largemouth, there can be a pretty wide variation in color from lake to lake and even time of year and weed growth, the ones you pull from the junk tend to be colored a bit differently at times from more open water fish. No spotted bass in the waters I have fished here, and most of our inland lakes are predominantly largemouth fisheries, although some have both. On one lake here I had caught two strange looking bass over the years, it was a lake that had both. I called them smallmouth because of their mouth size, but they looked more like this https://www.westernbass.com/forum/unusual-dna-found-big-bass-turns-into-record-catch-t118798.html LOL no where near that size though! about 3 pounds. -
Yep, 25 miles due south of Lake Erie, the highway at the end of my road ( state route 83 ) ends at Lake Erie, about a mile from where I used to live in Avon Lake. Another round of severe storms possible for today though, so far everything has missed us!

I am alive! at least I think so? With MS there is a 50/50 chance I could sleep through anything! As near as I can tell from a very brief look at the news the severe weather was around Dayton Ohio, that is a long distance away from me, much closer to Whopper's area, hope he is OK, but thanks for your concern!

Not positive on the rules either, but I tend to view this as general information, with the complaints about shipping costs and selection I have seen over the years more options are better? The affiliate program gives me a much better understanding of some youtube sites. -

Oh for sure Akri, that has been the most well known area for them since I was a kid. My dad got a 46 inch pike in there on one of his walleye opener trips, it was probably in there feeding on walleye. -

LOL, Akri my first time there was in 1964, so I was just turning 14, GPS back then meant Going Pretty Slow? dead reckoning? make a mistake and end up dead? Never really had a boat there capable of any speed, and it was so much different than the waters here, much more caution and a paper chart on the boat at all times, the guy on the bow of the boat was the rock watcher! I saw enough small motors there at the bait store with busted up lower units to seriously want to avoid hassles like that after driving 500 miles to fish! -
A one day thing Brian, it's about 15 degrees cooler today, I can no longer handle the heat anyway so cooler is better for me. Just glad my area seems to be missing the severe storms that seem to be hitting all around us!

I sheared a pin on a 5hp motor once there when I was young John, I had spares in my tackle box though, easy fix, still wonder about the cause though, must have been a submerged log because I had been over that area many time with no problems. Ya it's a challenging area to fish until you get to know where to avoid or proceed with extreme caution, changing water levels just further complicate it. LOL, drove a couple of wives nuts myself, practice makes perfect!
