Cookslav, I had a 1986 chevette can`t say anything bad about it. I bought it used for like 1300 bucks and had it around 10 years. The timing belts would wear out but were easy to fix. Gas milage was good and I didn`t need to drive a fancy car to have it parked in the lot at work for 10 to 15 hours a day. Never owned a foreign car, never had too many problems with the American built cars I have bought. I buy them used and drive them till they die or I find something better at a good price. I am just guessing, but if chinese workers were allowed to speak they might not be real happy with their working conditions. A lot of the products you buy now come from countries that don`t let their workers have much say, or choice. -
What and how many pets do you have? NF
OhioFisherman replied to nautifish's topic in General Discussion
Dogs- two boston terriers(in my avatar) and a lab mix(mutt) all good dogs, just want to meet people and play. Two cats outside, lol a gift of the neighbors over crowding, the momma cats got tired of the crowd(cats) and carried her baby over and dropped her on the garage floor about 10 years ago, they haven`t left yet. One bird- a finch, used to be two, my daughters deal. Used to have a couple of turtles, my sons, he didn`t want to take care of them, we released them in a local pond. -
Nice job Rick, nothing gets done if nobody knows, and letters are harder to ignore than phone calls.

The workers make what the bosses and executives tell the to make, with the parts and equipment provided maybe the management should make minimum wage? -
I made my own jigheads for tubes, ball and mushroom heads also. Clean reels, got the boat ready for the next season. Made the trip to BPS, Cabela`s, Netcraft to stock up for the season and the infamous honey do list. Kemper leave the honeys alone and you will have more time to fish.

Blame the unions? Just don`t see it sure there are abuses, same on the corporate side. Don`t worry though once wages and benefits drop to the level of 3rd world nations the jobs will come back. Free trade is basically move the jobs to the countries with the lowest pay, least restrictive enviromental laws so the owners can get richer. Then there is open your borders so the cheap labor can sneak in. The problem isn`t people don`t want to do those jobs, it`s the employers don`t want to pay a wage you can live on, they want to keep all the money. -
2007 US BPS catalog Navionics Gold area 14 SD/14XG 199.99 free fish n chip for US waters only(fishing aid not for navigation) don`t know if it`s and cheaper given shipping and exchange or what BPS up there offers as a price.

Just checked my BPS catalog(2007) 230 to 2000 US dollars( I am in USA) friends paid less than 300 I think, don`t know which model they have. One buddie fishes crappie tournies, a clear lake he could see them bite and not feel them, water conditions here usually aren`t that good. Another buddie used his at Chautaqua lake in NY and saw fish (walleye or ski as I recall)bumping his camera not his lure, LOL. It did allow him to see why fish frequented the spot. He won one of our club tournies at the spot, and since hasn`t hit the spot the same time as the fish. He won the tournie before he got the camera. A tool, if you got the money to spend it may be of some use, just don`t know about depending on them too much.

Dang Glen a coat? Couple of guys I know also have the aqua views or similar cameras, same deal, need pretty clear water for them to be of much use.

I think I saw in one of my salt water catalogs Shimano is selling a 300 series curado, bigger than the 200 series might be a better match for serious muskie fishing, but maybe righty only at this time.

Classic rock, although I will listen to anything I feel is good, there is a cross over for good music. No Rap! Like Joe some of the older folk music still holds an interest, dating myself, Kingston trio, Peter,Paul and Mary. Favorite band ? Alice Cooper, Zeppilin, Crosby,Stills,Nash, AND Young, Meatloaf, Kansas, too many to list, heck I even like some old country stuff.

LOL commercials mean money! he might just like it! Watch part of New Orleans v Chicago, most of New England v Indy. No favorites and the first games I really watched this year, be nice to see Manning win the Super Bowl.

Bad thing about ice is there is water below it and it`s cold. Never been ice fishing, had lots of chances to go just couldn`t develop an interest after being out in the cold all week and getting paid for it. Guess it would save you money on keeping your beer cold.

Great! LOL! I like my hands too much to stick them down a hole with a Muskie on the other side.
-
Great news Chuck, don`t rush it though.

And now for something completely different

LOL Art gotta love that avatar! -
Any of you Musky guys remember this lure?
OhioFisherman replied to solopaddler's topic in General Discussion
Not really a Muskie guy but those are old school, haven`t seen any around in a long while. -
It`s probably been 5 or 6 years since I have been to one here, just seemed a better deal for me and the buds to make the spring run to BPS, Cabelas, and Netcraft than to drop the money at the show. Cost of admission and parking bought me 100 tubes at Netcraft, a better more reasonably priced choice of food along the way. If your seriously looking for a boat or a place to go on vacation it might be a choice.

terrible TERRIBLE drivers !!!!!!!!!!!!! ......(NF)
OhioFisherman replied to lew's topic in General Discussion
It`s hard for most people to use their driving skills when they are talking on a cell phone, eating breakfast on the way to work, putting on makeup in the car, reading the newspaper. Just heavy rain here Monday and accidents all over, closer you get to the city the worse it gets. Even though I am sick if the weathers bad I drive, with the dear wife behind the wheel I would have to be crazy. -
I didn`t look, this yankee doesn`t fillet pike.

Who Has To Work Outside In This Weather ?
OhioFisherman replied to Eddyk's topic in General Discussion
I started working on the truck docks in 73, a roof but no heat, kind of like a wind tunnel, whatever it was doing outside you got a piece of. 20 below? ya on the dock too! Driving a tractor trailer and trying to keep some kind of schedule was interesting too. Still better than being stuck inside behind a machine or desk not knowing what`s happening outside. -
Lew, you tried, sorry it didn`t work out.

Joey when I started fishing back in the 50`s there were not many or any left hand retrieve reels around except for spinning reels. I learned on right hand retrieve baitcasters, we switched to Mitchell 300 spinning reels, my uncle sent some home from France when he was there in the navy. The cast with the right, retrieve with the left had a more natural feel, even though I am right handed. All my baitcasters are lefties, same with my spinning reels. I also feel that casting reels are a better choice for bigger fresh water fish, but again it`s all a matter of comfort, if it feels good you will do it more often.
