  1. LOL Holdfast, toting them cases of beer into the cabins and camp sites builds muscles! Most people here don`t have to walk to far to the porch. Great job Canada!
  2. All I had to use back in the old days, they help. Had a flasher up front in my boat and a LCD on the console when I bought it new in 87, a Hummingbird super 60 up front. Used to use a Lowrance with a suction cup transducer mount on boats before that. Anything that will show break lines in water where you can`t see them is a plus.
  3. Lew buying a lawn tractor is a lot like buying a car, and everyone uses theirs differently and cares for it differently. I have a 20hp Husky riding mower from TSC (Tractor Supply) a MTD store brand, 46 inch cut. My front yard is bigger than your whole lot, trees, mounds with shrubs, edging along the drive. I bought it in 1999 for like 2000-2200 with a bagging attachment, it still works fine, and it is used to cut almost 3 acres of land. It has only needed a few minor repairs, belt changes, a starter gear(nylon), a couple of batteries, deck blades and a pulley. It takes me about an hour to cut the front yard, bagging and emptying the clippings, with a zero turn mower it would be much faster. It looks like you take care of your stuff, probably no need to go crazy with spending on one. Do yourself a favor, get a Hydrostatic drive one, you never know what is going to happen down the road, me and clutches don`t work well together now. LOL if someone else besides you is driving it? Make sure they can grasp the concept that if the cut grass isn`t blowing out the deck it is clogged! The burning rubber smell is the belts that now have to be replaced.
  4. Congrats Lew! Looks good, best wishes to you and the family.
  5. if you can handle a little something more classical, some great voices one this.
  6. blade baits like GCD has pictured will work, heddon sonar, silver buddie, jig and worm worked slowly a hair jig and trailer, live bait also works if you want to mess with it
  7. Had a chipmunk in a cabin we rented in Pointe Au Baril one time, a trail of grapes and an open door got it out.
  8. Real nice fish Dave! Great time of the year to fish Lake Erie, if the weather co-operates.
  9. Nice Justin! Great time of the year to fish, usually not a lot of boat traffic, and you can still catch bass.
  10. Dad, like 4 or 5 years old, 3 brothers and me, think he wanted us to catch our own darn food so he would have more money to go fishing? LOL Been at it until illness put the brakes on, and don`t care to eat fish.
  11. LOL Wayne, lipped one at a bass tournament about 1/3 that size, that one might have got the hand. Always nice to catch something on a trip? with out shedding blood over it? LOL
  12. LOL Mike i was usually March for me, 16 years old and catch bait to sell for gas money. Shorts and tennis shoes, didn`t need jeans my legs turned blue.
  13. Nice of you to catch bait for Lew Wayne!
  14. I thought facebook was for girls? LOL Mike you don`t think I am going thru the trouble of putting them on both? I am retired and that is work? Go fish kid while you still have legs! LOL
  15. Went digging thru some stuff to see what to throw out and ran across some old fesh pictures, posted them on my myspace page you can check them out there if you would like? Mostly Lake Erie fish but some GB and farm ponds. Paul Dillon
  16. Just came back from Florida about a month and a half ago all the way down 75 once I got off I -71 there was a little construction but nothing too bad.
  17. Great hat on a great little guy!
  18. A secret stash for when we blow thru all the easy to get at resources? Plus it will attract fish, give them something to eat while they are try to use tax dollars to recover it!
  19. A very long time since I was at Rice Lake and only once, we stayed in a campground for like two nights? Slept in the 60 chevy wagon the second night, once we had the tent set up it never stopped raining. Never stayed in a tent again. A couple 3 two day bass tournaments a year before I got sick, no problem for me to sleep in my van for a practice night and first day of the tournament headed home after the end of the tournament. Some if we had enough guys we would rent a cabin or motel room to cheap out. When we stayed in my van there was usually an all night store near by with a big parking lot so no issues for the boats. Never got a hassle.
  20. Nice bass! Make it work! Congrats!
  21. Muskies a freshwater tiger, does it hit a lure out of hunger? or curiosity like a cat? playing with an unknown or for what seems like fun? Hunger for sure at times, the rest speculation? Even and old dog or cat will play, check out the unknown in their space and muskies don`t have paws to do it with? GB? some huge skis there, maybe not the numbers as in other areas but above average quality, LOL and they now have more trout available in their diet like the bass in California? Just a huge area with more than normal breeding grounds and feeding areas. I think there is a train of though in bass fishing that a percentage of the outsized fish in a lake rarely approach a shoreline? Could be that way for skis also, deep water cruisers, shallow is for spawning only? Top of the food chain, everything else smaller is food. Good article, just rambling.
  22. LOL Jer, ya guess I can be brutally honest, plenty of faults of my own and not afraid to admit them, what I am is what I am. No chains on anyone, you don`t like it? No locks on the door, or chains on you. A passive search for something? Even I am not sure what, LOL kind of like trolling? My run and gun days are over. LOL not afraid of man nor beast, but wimmins can be scary!
  23. http://cleveland.craigslist.org/stp/1422707481.html particular or peculiar? LOL if your going to swing? swing for the fence?
  24. I don`t ice fish, I have fished for quite a long time though and for a variety of species at times, far and away the best bait I have seen for perch and crappie is emerald shiners, or they may be called lake minnows. They work any season I have fished and for a lot of different species. Just not my choice of bait for a long time as I generally fish for larger species and the lake minnows aren`t large enough to keep small fish away. You can take the first crappie-perch you catch and scale a spot on the white belly with a pocket knife, cut a small strip of the scaled white belly meat, leave the skin on, meat will tear off easily with out it. Put it on a small jig or hook instead of a minnow. Piece of worm will work for perch, haven`t had as much luck for crappie on live worms, but other might.
  25. My SeaRay used to sit in the water on lake erie all season, I used starbrite.
