LOL April Fool ! Weather here for Tuesday is a low of 31f and a high of 32f? why bother noting the difference? Snow too. But 10 degrees warmer for Wednesday. Still way to early to count on anything as far as weather. Thought you guys didn`t put the snow blowers away until June? Doesn`t bass and muskie season not open till late June so you don`t get snowed on?

J ace, I have heard the folk versions some are done very well, Luke Kelly and the Dubliners versions come to mind. Not really big on the Thin Lizzy version, or Jerry Garcia`s. Metallica`s version is like easily listening music.

Many years ago fishing from shore in Lake Erie with a neighbor and his dad in Cleveland his dad caught a sheephead. It had a lamprey attached to it on the soft flesh under the gill plate, also seem catfish with marks on them from lamprey usually right where the head ends. We killed that one, I have no feelings of guilt over it. Never had an issue with killing a gobie, though bait would have been a better plan if legal Got to watch the history, plenty of blame to spread around on why some species are no longer common sights in the great lakes and elsewhere, most of it human activities. Dad used to tell m of sturgeon being thrown on shore and left for dead when he was young, people thought they were ugly. Commercial netters here in Ohio would never take any responsibility for diminished walleye populations. Always claimed that they weren`t taking enough to harm the population, blamed it all on pollution. But within a few years of their licenses being bought by the state and commercial walleye netting being banned Lake Erie was full of them. Also heard stories of lamprey being the cause of lake trout disappearing, but after seeing some of the fishery abuses and the blame game played who knows for sure. Still don`t like them, not a big fan of sheephead and carp either.

My wife got a couple in the Shawanaga river off of the Georgian bay some years ago, one was aound 15 pounds one over 20. Got to believe any wide slow moving river up there could hold some, ours were incidental catches we were not really targeting them just bigger fish in general with large chubs and shiners. Caught a number of them up there over the years but those 2 were by far the biggest, most were 6-8 pounds?

Georian Bay (Parry Sound) Fishing
OhioFisherman replied to MCTFisher9120's topic in General Discussion
Mike I have seen some of Parry Sound from shore only in town years ago. A lot like where we went for years about 20 miles up the road Pointe Au Baril. A mix weeds, rocks, you name it. Should be flats, points, dropoffs all over the place. Never went up until June though, bass opener and after. Anything you would use for bass has a decent chance of catching pike, water is probably going to be on the cool side? Throwing spoons like a dardevle, red eye, johnson silver minnow with a pork frog on it in area were weed growth has started might be a plan, spinnerbaits ect. I have caught pike on just about everything but probably more on subsurface baits. There was a baitstore right in town years ago that sold big minnows. Don`t know if it is still there, big chub, shiner on a slip float should get some action, jig and minnow cast. -
Don`t know if a 150 will fit in a cut off plastic 55 gallons drum, I test my smaller merc in one, They make muffs and earmuff looking device that clamps over the water intakes on the lower unit and a garden hose is attached, don`t ruun it without water! You will fry the impeller. Look at overall condition, carpet and seat wear, it will give you an indication of the amount of use. Boat is fiberglass and fairly heavy, make sure you have a proper tow vehicle. A good fishing platform, they don`t get blown around as boats with higher sides.

http://www.autamotors.com/Listings/details.asp?id=38337 http://london.craigslist.co.uk/boa/1079338731.html Hope the pictures help, Nitro bass boats are pretty popular here stateside, it should be a 60MPH boat, don`t know of any one that had any serious issues with theirs. A lot like buying a used car, everyone treats theirs differently.

Disabled and stuck home, computer chair is the most comfortable in the house for me. OFC is like home, a bit rowdy at times but a good group of people.

Like Raf say some of the ball bearing swivels and snaps they put on some of the pre made leaders are a bit crazy. If the leader is rated 17 pound test what the heck do I need a 200 pound test sized snap on it for? Some it is easy to take the snap and swivels off and install smaller ones, a duo lock snap and a smaller ball bearing swivel with split rings on both ends.

LOL Headhunter, look at our leadership over the last 50 years or so, is it them that kept the country going or the people working for them? Us, the people that paid the bills? Can`t have one without the other? Since we now own the auto companies perhaps we should insist our governments hire the execs from Honda-Toyota? Double their pay and it`s still a bargain? Communism? LOL we have never seen communism, just thinly veiled dictatorships called communists. The so called communist are one of our largest trading partners, guess dirt cheap labor allows for faults? they can`t be all bad? Just Cuba?

Great pictures and report Raf, nice to see JP still fishes.

Headhunter, while I don`t disagree that people capable of running a large corporation well should be paid well, the same old question arises, when is enough, enough? Honda Motors, an apparently well run corporation feels 13 million is enough for 36 executives. They also apparently have no issues working for that sum. When a company or group of companies goes to the government, and taxpayers to bail them out of self inflicted problems, isn`t it time to rethink the salary positioning? Is it better to hire 5 people, delegate the authority, to get opposing view on a business decision or allow one extremely high paid exec to run the road to ruin? Also a factor is some of the people that sit on these boards that make these type of decisions sit on the boards for many companies. In part the "old boy" network, you appoint me here, I will appoint you there. Very lucrative work? If you can get it? A recent story here of board members making 270,000 a year, for 9 days a year of meetings. 30,000 a day? And then stories like this http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...9033101459.html At what point do you risk alienating your customers and employees? If these same CEO`s want to make the argument it is a global economy? Why doesn`t their pay reflect that? I personally would have no problem with our government capping CEO`s pay. They made the argument for global trade, if your going to talk the talk? walk the walk? Or use money and influence to buy your positioning? Why should US auto execs, given their history, feel that they should earn more than the execs at Honda or Toyota? Why should a US defense contractor pay it`s CEO millions? when it is the taxpayer footing the bill? Because the right political contribution allows it? Why does our government allow our drugs companies to pay their execs millions, and charge higher prices for the same drugs that Canada buys? Canada can negotiate drug price with our drug companies? But our government blocked the same option for our taxpayers? Just my view things need some adjustment, I don`t buy a product or service with the idea of overpaying an exec because he wants it. You have to believe if our president wanted that kind of money we could find someone to do the job cheaper, and possibly better.

Ya hook up percentage on frogs can be pretty bad at times, always wait until you feel the weight of the fish on the line to set the hook and if it misses it completely just stop the retrieve, wait a few seconds and give it a twitch or two. The fish might hit again. Although I didn`t use braid it is probably a better option now for the reasons mentioned in the video.

We are all aware of our auto worker debates so keep it civil. Just a different way of thinking between management in our countries and some others? Our management seems to be drive by greed? http://www.forbes.com/forbes/2006/0904/112.html The lean and compact Fukui, like all of his predecessors, is an engineer who started in R&D and later ran the subsidiary. While other auto chief-executives-to-be were punching keyboards in an accounting office, Fukui ran the company's motorcycle racing operations. He's still racing. He hikes the stairs to his tenth-floor desk--tenth floor so he's in the middle of things at Honda's 16-story Tokyo headquarters and a desk because executives at Honda don't have offices. Honda doesn't disclose executive pay in detail, but the sum of salaries and bonuses that Fukui shares with 36 board members, $13 million, is just about enough for the boss at a big American company. Says a lot when the top 36 guys at Honda make as much a only one top guy at GM? Certainly part of the problem here with the bailouts. I have no problems with keeping the Ameican auto companies in business for the most part. But to use our tax dollars to pay bloated salaries for the failed execs? Again more of a wide spread problem here just because of the number of people and amount of money changing hands. I think here every CEO thinks he deserves 10-20 million a year. We do have some good sites to track the campaign contributions, and it`s the same old story, follow the money. You can get a good idea of who is supporting who by the money trail. Unfortunately the average taxpayer is stuck with the check.

I spent a couple hours yesterday making sure I had all my windows updates and that AVG and avast were updated, no problems here either.

Little angler, thanks kid! you make me remember being young. Great to see some one asking questions it can prevent mistakes or wasted time in the future. You will learn as you get more time on the water more fishing trips under your belt none of this is carved in stone. Desire and confidence in what you are doing plays a part. Cudz is right about not needing dead calm water to throw a top water lure, and there are a lot of them and different styles. Some like a Jitterbug or spook seem to work best with a rhythm to the retrieve, walking the dog, the jitterbug will gurgle at you. Lure like a buzzbait a steady retrieve helps the fish locate the lure, especially when you are retrieving it thru junk or dirty water, I like to bend the upper shaft so the blade makes contact with the lower shaft on a retrieve but doesn`t stop it, some come with a clacker, a small second blade that contacts the main blade, adds sound and vibration. Speed? If you find fish, if they want a surface lure, they will let you know. Don`t get set on one speed until you start catching fish, then try to repeat it. Prop lures, like a heddon torpedo or smithwick devils horse? cast, let it sit then make the props spray some water, stop, start over. Frogs. thrown them in places I don`t think the fish could see them, a motion and rhythm thing also, they need to be able to track it down. Too many baits to cover, confidence, experience catching some fish on a lure will give you the best idea on what will work, you won`t get either if you don`t fish.

A gimmick, they will eat a plastic lizard, plastic worm swum on the surface weightless at times too, and you can buy a bag of 8-10 lizards for 3-4 bucks.
