  1. Congrats on your first with a compound bow, that is a nice doe. This weekend brown is going down, I haven't been able to get out much. Good luck with the rest of the season.
  2. That is classic never seen a boxer retrieve upland game before, but good on ya. I tried that when I had my Rottweiler, he put a bird up I shot it and turn around and he was GONE. I get back home and there he is sitting outside the front door lol.
  3. I have shot Deer, Moose and Bear with my Bow, and all have expired within minutes (if that) and not travelled far at all. The one thing that is critical when hunting with a bow or a gun is shot placement! In order to get a good clean kill you need to hit the vitals. Just a little info for you, with an animal that is shot with a bow they will expire due to massive hemorrhaging from the 1"-2" cut through the cavity. With gun shot they will expire due to the shock and hemorrhaging because the bullet is not sharp and it is punching through their cavity, both are effective either way. Just thought I would point out the obvious, that a clean kill needs good shot placement with any weapon. This is an awesome video, and it makes me want to do some moose hunting again in the near future, man do they ever get your heart racing when they come in.
  4. He doesn't want his face shown, that is his choice.
  5. Thanks guys, this is his biggest yet with the bow. misfish he is using Rocky Mountain’s Snyper 100 gr. I like my old faithful TriLock 3 blade 100 gr.
  6. Well so far this season I have only been able to get out once! But That is what happens when you got young kids. I went out on Sunday and saw 9 deer all does and fawns, I had a big button buck come under me in my stand but I want this guy to grow and I don't want to fill my doe tag this early. My bro went out last night and wasn't in his stand long and made a few grunts and a nice buck came running in, he stopped at 18 yards and offered a perfect quatering away shot. He put his pin on his mark and let fly, he smoked him. The buck didn't even know he was hit hard, he started to walk away so he grunted him and he stopped, he seen the sure sign of the tail flicking like crazy and he tipped over maybe 20yrds from where he shot him!! So he ended up getting this nice 9 pointer. Get out in the bush guys and girls, there are lots of scrapes and rubs, the bucks are coming in to the pre rut.
  7. If it is the extra tag (if you have any in your area) then it will only be for antlerless and bow only, but if you applied for the antlerless draw then it would be antlered or antlerless. I put in for the antlerless draw and got my tag and it says antlered or antlerless, my extra tag is antlered only and bow only. This is copied of the MNR Deer Reg's Any resident of Ontario who has a valid hunting version Outdoors Card may apply to the draw for an antlerless deer validation tag. Hunters who receive a validation tag in the draw are permitted to harvest their choice of EITHER an antlerless deer in the WMU specified on the tag OR an antlered deer anywhere in the province during the open season – with the exception of during a controlled hunt. See page 61 for information on hunting during a controlled deer hunt season. Licensed hunters who do not apply to the antlerless draw, or who are not successful in the draw for an antlerless deer validation tag, may harvest an antlered deer only, anywhere in the province during the open season, with the exception of during a controlled hunt or where a hunter has an additional deer seal validated for an antlerless deer. Hope this helps
  8. Beer: I go to my U Brew place and it cost WAY less than the Beer Store. Wine: I also go to my U Brew place, but it has to be red wine. Spirits: 151 Bacardi rum with a hint of Gingerale, 151 lamb's Navy rum with a hint of gingerale, Wisers with a hint of gingerale, Belvenie scotch on the rocks.
  9. Looks like you got a few nice ones kickin around. I only have 2 1/2 weeks to go until I can get my bow out with me into the bush. Good luck this season, and stay safe. Jay
  10. I use sent loc clothing and boots, I always wash my underlayers twice a season and my suit and boots at least once just before the season stars. Then I keep it in air tight totes, I do not use ANY cover sents only sent eliminators. I suggest that you get some sent and UV killer detergent from BassPro or Cabela's, and make sure if you are using your regular clothes washer, wash it out first with the special detergent and rinse out well, and also do the same to your dryer just use a damp cloth to wash and to wipe access away. That way you do not have any UV on your hunting gear and you wont stick out like a glow stick to the deer. Man I can't wait to get into the bush and get my 2 tags filled.
  11. I got mine, and my extra tag too.. I can't wait to get out in the woods again, and have some peace and quiet. I am still waiting for my big buck from last year to get out of my taxidermists hands, hopefully soon.
  12. People need to grow up, you don't need to know deal with it. I really like your posts and that one reminded me of one of my fly-in trips. Jay
  13. Everyone needs to send this yahoo a message. I did and got back a bunch of crap, all this does is make it easier for businesses not the regular folks. As of July 2010 it will be in effect!!! Here is the link to send him a message http://www.premier.gov.on.ca/feedback/default.asp?Lang=EN Like the government doesn't get enough taxes out of OUR pockets. Overload his inbox with messages, we need to speak up.
  14. I can't believe you come on hear to ask your question about drinking in a vessel while out fishing. Then give up your location where you will be You are a
  15. I have been out with my dad since I was 5 (obviously not hunting) chasing rabbits and pheasents. As soon as I was able to get my licence, I signed up and got everything I needed to hunt. I used to do a lot of goose and ducks but now I don't bother, I like the big game mostly Deer, Moose, Bear and sometimes rabbits and bushchickens can be a great day out with my dog. Most of my hunting is done with a compound bow, but I also use a muzzleloader and 12g. Once deer season starts no fishing for me, time to fill the freezer.
  16. This is weird that it got brought up. I saw a huge plant on one of my neighbours property and did some research and found out that it was in fact giant hogweed. definitely a nasty plant, stay away from them.
  17. BINGO Take what you can and get off EI.
  18. I have a 05 Tacoma TRD Sport and it is midsize truck, and it is by far the best truck I have ever owned. I had a Ranger and it sucked, I have also had 3 Chevy and 2 cost me more than they were worth. If you want the quality and resale value invest in a good truck, not something that will lose 1/2 it's value when you drive it off the lot. Good luck with your purchase either way.
  19. I for one commend her for doing everything that she did. To bad others wouldn't have the balls to do it. They have lived this way for a LONG time, I think it would have been an insult if she did not participate. P3TA can kiss my
  20. Some good looking fish there, congrats. I was out there on Saturday and got 2 whities and a laker.
  21. That is some great hunting and fishing, congrats. Looks like you will be eating good.
  22. Well I am a little late posting it but better late than never! I got out on Friday morning to do some turkey hunting. My son and I were all set up by 5:20am, my brother and dad were 15 yards away set up in there blind. It started to come light out and no birds were gobbling yet, so we gave a few soft calls and we hear them about 100yrds away. At 6:30 they decide to fly down out of their roost and come over to take a peak, I lured them in with my slate call the last 60yrds. They get to 20yrds and I put the call down get the gun and take aim, I shot first and dropped him then my dad shoots and drops his bird. By 7am it was all said and done, another successful turkey hunt for the family and our first double header. Most of the birds around by us were locked up with hens so we all decided to take what ever legal birds came with in our shooting range. 2 jakes is what we ended up getting, so meat for the freezer and no tag soup. Here is the pic of my son and I with the turkey.
  23. Good luck at getting your bird. I won't be able to get out until Friday morning. My Brother got one this morning, 7 yard shot.
  24. I agree with sinker, your shot is definitely blown I would try taking a couple without your choke on at 20-30 yards and see how your pattern is. You should not have to take a bird at 40 yards +, if you do you should work on your calling more or get better set up in the field. I shoot a 3" mag side by side and all ways smack them down. I have never had to shoot a turkey past 20 yards, put your scouting in and set up properly.
  25. I haven't fished for Channel Cats for a long time, but due to the recent kitty pics I would like to get out and try my luck at it again. Does anyone know of any areas up on Southern Georgian Bay or West side that would produce some kitties. I know the water is cooler up there so I guess they would be in the rivers later than down at Erie? Any help would be appreciated, or send me a PM if you choose not to post. Thanks Jay
