  1. I have had two Labs. #1 thing with both of them was they HAD to run. Off leash, either retrieving or just running about in a field. If not, they got depressed, literally. They are high energy dogs, that love the outdoors. Be forewarned, once they are taught to retrieve, it is all they really want to do. Good luck with your hunt!
  2. Hey Aaron, thanks for taking the time to write that. After reading your report I got to thinking the digging into the bottom with the crank would be a great trigger. As with solo I have used the three way for deep smallies for years, usually with floating/suspending stickbaits and plastics (leeches, FINs, Gulp etc) After honing this technique down your way on the bar for lakers. Great tip and I'll give it a shot this weekend on Simcoe, see if it can stir them up. Thanks again for your report and sharing this creative technique.
  3. Oh, me brudder knows wheres I am coming from, all in fun. Although, I did spent 3 weeks in Newfie where one guy did not get where I was coming from. He was either calling me a toonie or asking for one, or so I thought. As I pulled one out to give him, he blew his lid. He was actually calling me a "townie". That was a fun night. Again, nice buck Rick. My freezer is still void of venison.
  4. Tooks the words right out of my mouth! Love to hear as well.
  5. I think he is just showing you what a real buck looks like for reference incase you come across another fallen tree root system. Cause ya know, it's been a while... Beauty buck Rick.
  6. Hey Bud, no I didn't. I just dontated to a buddy who is doing it and showing support by growing one(or trying too). No time to hunt down support. And I hear ya Jay, I have some meetings with some execs. this month and a promotion interview... I'll have the excuse in hand for the stache or lack there of...
  7. With two small lil girls 4 and 2 I can not even imagine what the last few weeks have been like. Stay strong Wayne. In our thoughts.
  8. Just to add.... My Misses tried the home daycare route as well. She had the best intentions and is fantastic with kids......but..... it is a very fickle biz! It would be a shame if she is just trying it out, and after a few months things didn't work out and you've given your pooch away... Just something else to think about.
  9. Ok, anyone have some money to invest? We'll set up a fishing lodge somewhere on the Bay for year round adventures. We have some guides with expereince on here we can hire, plus we can use my old contacts from the states and hit the US show circut. We can have seasonal OFC GTG's aswell. We can do it right. I am half joking....
  10. I remember that post! I fish Tri Lakes quite a bit and have weighed in a few nice smallies, but none over 5. That IS a trophy fish for that lake or from the other two lakes connected.
  11. HOLY LEW, that is absolutely brutal. I (and I know you) would of been LIVID. I am sad to say it was I that had to cancel, as my lil sweetie has a date with sick kids on the friday unfortunatley.
  12. Nice bud. I hear ya on the rain. I let the powers to be know I could be a couple hrs late this morn if we got the rain we were supposed to......now I'm on the train.
  13. Been there bud. One of the toughest things I had to do. But my boy found an amazing home with an OFNer. I wish you the same luck. Phil
  14. Send an email to the show and let them know your thoughts and back them up with resources they can research themselves. You never know, maybe they just need to be educated about it. Bottom line is anyone can have a fishing show if you have or can raise the money. It has nothing to do with your fishing experience, knowledge or ethics.
  15. Awesome TJ, sounds like a blast! Which one is your son though?? Talk about a mini me, wow. I see you guys are safety minded and well prepared. Always smart to have one guy with floater suit on incase someone (in this case I would assume "hose dude") goes for a dip.
  16. He can say whatever he wants.... still has to pass council. Should be some fun "press conferences" to keep us entertained however. You thought Lastman was "different" Nooooo Body....
  17. Terry! Any chance the HDS5 shot can be moved a little to the left to show the whole unit? Nice lookin machine!
  18. Try using a fawn this time of year. Had success(once) when a doe came running with a big boy in tow.
  19. Not sure what happened this year but the areas I like to fish were absolutely hammered by guys. SO much so I couldn't fish the way I wanted. Not sure what the deal was, but I have never seen it like that before in 20 years. This is the only fishing site I frequent, but who knows, maybe someone jibber jabbered on a another board. My fav time to peir fish is coming up soon, hopefully it will be bitter cold!
  20. Nice Fish Cudz. And nice bag Bob. One of the most frustrating things is a "wannabe" GPSing spots. Has happened to us a few times on Simcoe, even the buggers showing up on the spots day 2 of the T one time. Part of the game unfortunatley.
  21. Speaking of guide, are you still in touch with Gustar? Haven't seen him around in a while.
  22. Getting ready! Last year was the handle bar, still deciding what the goal is for this year. NO cheating fishgreg, you have to be clean shaven on the 1st, lol... If there is enough interest, maybe we could have an OFC team. Prostate cancer has probably effected everyone here in one way or another. Just a thought...
  23. Simply put, I have become a more knowledgable fisherman because of OFC and hopefully I have helped others over the years do the same. OFC allows you to give'ith and take'ith, and alot of times with a laugh. Hat's off to TJ and the rest of the mods for making this place what it is.
  24. Owned a Browning, Hoyt and PSE. So far the PSE is my fav. Altough, the browning was a great bow for the money. I would take the advice of heading south of the border to get a better deal. If you choose other wise, the gents at Gagnons can set you up nicely!
