  1. You have two ways to look at it. You are 14 so you don't have a whole lot to lose! you won't get rich with the product you plan on carrying, but if you put the time in, you may be able to make it work by the time you finish school. The other end of it (which is what I would tell my son) is you are 14. It is time to be a kid and enjoy life because it passes by quickly. You have plenty of time to have a career and not a lot of time being a kid. Enjoy it! I have 1 tackle shop I frequent. The owner has one of the premier shops in my area and it is 900 square feet and he does quite well. what most don't see is that for him to turn a profit, he and his wife have to work 10-15 hour days which doesn't leave a whole lot of time to fish. You have to figure out what your priorities are. I would bet you could make more money working part time at your age than what your business will bring in within the next year so I would go work part time and save your money to try a start up after a few years.
  2. That was a close one! I caught a 44 in her on a 2500 size Stradic CI4 so that just stinks! I am sure you will enjoy the Calcutta!
  3. I have a cabinet that all of my fishing gear goes into. Every box that came with a reel is in there. It is an easy way to find a schematic and all of the stuff that comes with the reel stays in there until it is needed. I also take all of the line off of my reels, back off the drag and cast control setting and then put the reel back in the box for the winter.
  4. I just checked the Mercury prop selector and a 13x19 seems to be what the recomend. You can check it here. https://www.mercurymarine.com/en/ca/propellers/selector/#/step-one By the looks of it, a theororetical top speed of 47mph would be attainable if you had absolutely no prop slip. As it stands right now, you prop slip is absolutely terrible at over 25%. This means your problem is most definitely setup. You are getting too much air around the prop so dropping the motor a hole is probably a great idea. My 75 Fourstroke with a slightly lower gear ratio will push my PT190 to 39-40mph (happened once for 40) and this is mounted in the second hole from the top. I do however have a shallower boat... Good luck and report back!
  5. if a 21p prop doesn't help (it sounds like your prop might me too low in pitch) the motor may be too high. What hole is the motor mounted in?
  6. If you can't get it fixed, look at a sharp Aquos. I bought my kvd 6 years ago and haven't had any issues. They had the best warranty on the market and were rated quite high in quality when I bought
  7. I only use powerpro. You can spend more on other brands but it has never let me down but I ave never used it for what you plan on doing. The super slick casts better on baitcasters but since you are using a spinning reel, I really don't think you need to go that route. Plus, regular braid cuts through weeds easier.
  8. BBC has a few if each boat you are looking at listed right now. I don't know if there are any fixer uppers though but it is worth a check. I know there is a 96 XB2003 for a good price that I wouldn't mind getting my hands on. I just made a recommendation to someone else here to check out Mark's props because he gets rave reviews on BBC. The guy seems to be a genius when it comes to prop work. If you search his name over there, you will find well over 100 posts regarding his great work and skill. Good luck!
  9. Double post!
  10. I don't know of anyone in our area or even in Canada but a lot of praise is given to Mark Croxton at Mark's high performance propeller. He has a tech sheet listed on his website and the more information you give him, the better the prop will turn out. His website is http://marksprops.com and the praise he gets in BassBoat Central is rediculous. A few guys in the ottawa area have had him work their props and have been extremely happy. If there is something you want done to a prop, he can do it and all of his prices are listed on his website. Adam

  12. Thanks for the info. The wife liked the ranger Reatta because the whole family could fit in it but I want a bass boat first and family boat second. The xb2003 looks like the best of both worlds. When I do buy another boat, I will be coming out of a Bass Tracker 190tx so the side to side movement isn't anything I haven't seem before. The speeds you are getting are pretty crazy. I don't think I will ever need a boat that fast but at least I will have the option to do so should I ever want to. And let's be honest, if I can, I probably will. As you don't see a lot of the boats I like up here (Legend Bass, Allison and Bullet), I will be going south to pick my next boat up. I have a few more years to go before that happens but it never hurts to do some early research. Thanks again for the info. Adam
  13. Looks like an Allison XB2003 and they are rated for a 2.5l so that would make sense. Since I have been looking into this boat for the last few weeks can you tell us how you like it? I have a cottage on the st. Lawrence (lake St. Francis) and want a boat that can handle rough water yet still give a good ride. I have read they have quite a smooth ride and am just wondering what your thoughts are. That is a pretty sick video for sure! Adam
  14. With FWD you will have to pick and choose your launches. I know a guy who tows a Ranger with a Santa Fe and really needs to be careful with the launched he uses. He tries to stick with cement launches and doesn't have any issues with them. If he was to go to a gravel launch, it would be a little hairy.
  15. Lol, I just realized you checked the two places I mentioned. It is probably the wrong time of year for them to stick this merchandise. When I worked at Canadian tire, this stuff would come off the shelves mid September.
  16. It's been a while since I have been at either store but Lebaron in ottawa used to carry HH as well as I have boat the jacket in the past at Mark's work warehouse. I have since upgraded to the BPS 100mph suit. Best money I have ever spent and is leaps and bounds better than any other rain suite it have ever used. If the HH is all you can afford, go for it. It you are going to be outside a lot in the rain/wind and want something breathable, spend the extra money on something like the BPS suit. They are expensive (but there are more expensive options out there) but the are worth it in the long run as they are better built and last a long time. Adam
  17. It's pretty crazy up here. All of the buildings in the downtown core are locked down...
  18. There is a guy up here in ottawa that sat in front or around the corner fr my old building depending on the day. My coworker was on the same bus as him one night and he started complaining he only made $150 dollars that day. The sad fact was he made more money sitting on his but in that day than most of the people on that bus. From that day on, I didn't even look at the guy.
  19. I agree with stonefish. The higher the reserve capacity, the longer the battery will last. You have to figure out how you plan on using this motor. If you are going to use it for your main power (instead of paddling), get the biggest battery you can. A group 31 with the highest reserve capacity you can find/want to spend the money on is what I would recomend but be warned, they do get expensive. Most people I have seen use an electric on a canoe only run one battery because they are bulky and heavy. As for your tender, it will work but as said above, will take forever to charge a deep cycle. I use a 10 amp (mk330 which is 3 banks for my 3 batteries at 10 amps per bank) charger and after a full days use, it usually takes about 3-6 hours to charge back to full. Adam
  20. Lol!, I alternated between Average Joe's the underdog story and HP the prisoner of askaban. But I am tired of the Simpsons, and never got I to modern family. I also don't get the other two...
  21. It depends what your goal is I would assume. The lower gear ratio would produce more torque which results in you being able to spin a larger prop. My busy has issues turning a 19p prop on a 115 with 2.01:1 gear ratio while I have no issues doing it at all. The reason is because I have a higher gear, my 75 produces enough torque to turn the prop while his 2.01:1 struggles. If you under prop that motor, you will get an insane whole shot but if you prop it correctly, your holeshot will take a little beating, but you would probably get the same speed as say a 75 with a lower gear ratio. Adam
  22. I know when they first came out, I talked to the mechanic I use at raisin river marine on Lake st. Francis and they were using them on the Lunds as well as pontoons. He told me it was built to be stronger because merc was having issues with the torque bending shafts. It does make sense from what you are hearing as Lake St. Francis has a lot of shoals that are unmarked. It only sounds like yet another advantage to the bug foot. I forgot to mention that all speeds quoted are with an aluminum prop. I haven't bit the SS bullet yet because I am scared of what might happen should I hit an underwater ubstruction. Even the 115 quoted is using a. Aluminum for the same reason but should you want 1-3 mph more, that is easily attainable with a SS prop. You can also add cup to a SS which helps bite into water where as it is a little harder to do this with aluminum. There are always pros and cons to everything. You just have to pic what is more important to you. Good luck!
  23. Disclaimer ******** I do not have any experience with the 60 bug foot ****** I was asking about an 115hp etec on another board and comparing top speeds between it and my 75hp merc fourstroke. My merc also runs the 2.33 gears on a 19 foot bass tracker 190tx and with a 19p prop, I am only 5moh slower than the 115 with 2.01:1 gears. If you are concerned about top end, keep in mind that the 2.33 will allow you to run a higher pitched prop while the gearing will still give you a good hole shot. A water test is still a good idea though to make sure you are happy. My 75 with a 17p prop will push this 19 foot boat to about 37mph on GPS at 5500rpm. In the cooler months, I can run a 19p prop on it and hit 40mph on GPS at about 5200rpm. It would go faster if I could trim it any higher without blowing out. With that info, I can't see you having any issues running a 60 on the back of a 1625 even if it does have a full windshield. Adam
  24. From what I heard on CBC this all stems from a correction that was long overdue. It doesn't sound like it will last long though so fill up your toys now
  25. I used to use the weather network exclusively but it only seems to be accurate 10 minutes out. Because of RJ (Rob Jackson of RJ & Birdee's outdoor adventures who I think is a member here), I now use the accuweather app. It is 20 times more accurate than weather eye. Weathermen are the only people who are paid to be wrong 90% of the time. They are never 100% right soto find anything that is close, is good.
