  1. The greats lakes water level(s) are not an easy or one wet season fix. The huge volume of water in the lakes vs the relative small catchment area is the problem. The lakes are there due to the melting of glaciers. We keep taking water out, and/or diverting it and weather patterns change. No easy fix if there is one at all.
  2. I just signed a new card on the weekend (sportsman show special) I wish I had seen this before that. Although most times I'm handed back my card before I've signed the receipt. My question is why don't credit cards come with a photo? This seams so simple to me that I wonder why it is not done?
  3. Another heads-up would be that the open season has changed I believe for walleye in (or parts of) southern Ontario. http://www.mnr.gov.on.ca/MNR/pubs/pubmenu.html#fish
  4. Caught the last half of the Penguins vs Capitals (dam snow) I'm not a fan of either team, nor did I have a vested interest in the outcome, but that was a very entertaining game. Lots of talent with a lot of skating, some hits, great saves and great plays. Night and day from a Devils vs Bruins from 1999 (or even Devils/ Bruins this year). Too bad the Caps aren't likely to make the playoffs. I'm all for winning hockey games, IE the Devils, but at some point you have to entertain the fans. Otherwise you have a dynasty that no one wants to watch. Old building - no fans, new beautiful building - no fans. No fans - no money. No money - no team. Hay, maybe Basillie buys the Devils and moves them to southern Ontario and makes them play winning and entertaining hockey. Man, I need some open water. Maybe I'll try to get to the Sportsman show more than once this week.
  5. Story in the Globe and Mail about the twin otter. Next... the beaver??? I don't have the expertise of many on the site, but I think the beaver and the twin otter are hard to beat for what they were built for. http://www.reportonbusiness.com/servlet/st...l_gam_mostview#
  6. Keep the wood stick. Not many of them left, and even less still made in Canada.
  7. I think Friday is my day. All the fun stuff (fun for me, dull, dull, dull for my wife) in the afternoon, and then I'll meet my wife and see everything else in the evening.
  8. Ralph Intranuovo? Oiler's draft pick from the 90's, only a handful of NHL games. I think he played (is still playing???) in Europe.
  9. Like many others here we got a good dump of snow in Barrie. The dog loved it. I had to call my father in law to bring over his snowblower (marrying his daughter was one thing but using his snowblower??? and I won't even mention the boat.). 4plus feet of snow at the mouth and no where left to put it. Anybody ever see video of foxes/ coyotes/wolves pouncing on voles? Murphy mid leap. no vole, but there is a biscuit in there somewhere He's a 100lbs and that's all new snow. Now where did I put that bone??? Good luck to all, I am now ready for spring.
  10. I love it! What were they bite'n on? How deep? GPS coordinates? I got skunked in my yard.
  11. Just got my ticket for the Sportsmen's show in the mail. Thanks TJ. I don't think the banks or credit card companies send mail out that fast. It looks like I'll be heading down Friday during the day.
  12. I say we have a G2G in Hogswaller. We can all reverse the directions to 'Bama. Those of us from the farther north regions can pick-up members as we go. I don't know if you've ever thought of your home as Mecca, but for some of us northern folks who don't get to make a cast for 4 months or so and spend our winters starring intently at a small hole in the ice, Alabama just might be the perfect place for a pilgrimage. Do you have room for 200 or so guests Glen? ps I can bring my own pillow.
  13. Wow, you live right by the dam. Map quest must use the same sat. shots as goggle. There were a few boats on the on the water when the pictures where taken. I can't tell if either of the boat operators have their shirts off though.
  14. Thanks for the pictures Glen. It was neat to see some of the "background" stuff from your neck of the woods. I looked at some of the satellite shots on goggle maps and was able to see the dam from your post. There is even a boat racing east to west on the reservoir above the dam. I wonder if it was you?
  15. WoooHooo... I'm involved in an experiment that doesn't involve mind controlling drugs or electrodes... ...Wait, did I say too much???
  16. On a side note (or back to the origin of the post???) Yes all lures are designed for anglers, because even if it is the "best lure ever" if no one buys it it can't catch fish. Most, if not all, fish are coloured on the top/side and white on the bottom. Very few of them however poses phosphorescence of any kind. Just some observations.
  17. Terry, my wife sees it the other way around. ;-) Thanks TJ, now my Jenn will only have to pay for her ticket. What to do with the extra $s???
  18. Safety warning from Transport Canada. http://www.tc.gc.ca/mediaroom/advisories/2008/08-ma003e.htm If that link doesn't work the transport Canada site is: http://www.tc.gc.ca/en/menu.htm Safe sledding, the season is almost over and you've made it this far.
  19. Nice fish! Some of us can walk on water however.
  20. Never underestimate the genius of the collective.
  21. Most books and magazines now only list the Canadian price. Many people did try to pay for items that had both a Canadian dollar price and a US price. This practice was met with varying degrees of success. A store does not have to sell you and item (bad PR and business practices aside) if it choses not to.
