  1. I don't care what any of you say, Lindros deserves to be in the...wait???? Am I in the right forum??? I think I must have bumped my head
  2. I don't get it, how do you get a tan with all that clothing on? Nice FISH.
  3. Name 'em. That's right, it's the paddy cake hall of fame and doesn't have any "dirty" players in it. I know, players like Messier and Clarke weren't dirty, they just played with passion and heart.
  4. You're right. He did want out of Philly. The doctors almost killed him. And that has nothing to do with HHF nominations.
  5. It is the hockey hall of fame, not the NHL. 2 gold medals at the world juniors. Canada cup champion Memorial cup champion Olympic silver medal (and later a gold medal) Then he turned 19 In the NHL he was a dominate hockey player for many years, many players in the hall can not have that said about them. Yes, his career was not what it could have been because of injuries, but the same can be said of Orr and Lamieux, two great players that clearly deserve to be in the hall, but the fact is that injuries, and cancer in Lamieux's case, impacted on their ability to perform at their best for parts of their careers. Many of the arguments as to why he shouldn't be in are in regards to things off the ice, and I don't feel that should have much (if any) baring on his inclusion to the hall. He had an "issue" with the owner of the Nordics not the french people. That same owner then sold Lindros to two teams, he was awarded to the Flyers not the Rangers in court. Abeu (the owner of the Nordics) then shipped his team to Colorado. Here are some of the other members of the hall: Federco, Gillies, Mullen, Goulet, MacDonald and Neely.
  6. It's tough to make a positive id with just pictures but, by keying it out I'm leaning to wards fallfish. The main points I'd use being: each scale with dense pigment anteriorly and fewer than 50 scales along the lateral line. Or... that's the monster Wayne, Glen and I saw in Georgian Bay the other week ;-)
  7. The short answer is using the shutter priority will give you sharper photographs, providing you don't slow the shutter down too much. As a rule of thumb your shutter should not be set slower than the "zoom" of the lens. IE. if the lens is 28mm to 90mm zoom you should not use a shutter speed slower than 1/28 of a second if the lens is at 28mm. At 90mm the shutter speed shouldn't be slower than 1/90 of a second. With most, if not all, DSLRs you can also change the relative ISO of the "film" the higher the number the less light needed for the various settings. The downside is "graininess". Another thing to consider is your mechanics when you press the shutter release, practice pressing it gently and not jabbing it. Set yourself and tuck your elbows into your body. Having said that, by using the shutter priority you lose control of your depth of field and this can have a big impact on your shot. Having a tripod allows you to have full control of all aspects of your shooting. The great thing with digital is that you can see your results right away, and in many cases you can also see the cameras setting when the photo was taken. This allows you to evaluate what gives you the results that you like best. Hope this helps... and makes sense. Rob
  8. We usually see that on the news up here a couple of times every winter. Texas, Kansas or Arkansas drivers pressing hard on the throttle or the brakes to "fix" their problems. But it also happens here in Vancouver and Victoria.
  9. This is the world wide web so there is no reason to stop the reports, although I understand that public water is harder to come by in the UK.
  10. Be careful of what you ask for. Would this co prefer someone have a full licence, then go out and catch, keep and eat one musky each day of the season where permitted? That is "legal", but almost definitely bad for the fishery (not to mention almost impossible to do). Rob
  11. That is almost certainly a better mouse trap, but there is something to be said for laying in your bed at night in the cabin and counting the snaps as you drift off.
  12. That trip into the park was one of the best ones I've had (they're all good in their own way) Mid October, no bugs, no people, mist/fog in the mornings (I think I've posted some), nice sunny afternoons, flat calm lakes, nice colours, wolves and owls at night and otters around the canoes. Now that I think about it, I had gone up during the week, and things were so perfect that I came back to Barrie and told my friend that he had to come back with me.
  13. I've got to try HDR. Here are two sunset photos. South shore of lake Nippissing Algonquin Park Thanksgiving '97
  14. My boat is a canoe and its name is Kickingfrog.
  15. Here is my B&W submission. Again with a subject more suited to the format. Taken during the Canadian National Exhibition at Ontario Place in Toronto. Sept. 2007. P-51 Mustang
  16. Thanks, it's 11:30pm and now all I want to do is forage in the fridge for something to throw on the bbq.
  17. You may have already tried this but, Power pro has a web site about tying knots with their product. http://powerpro.com/using/knots.asp
  18. What pound test would you use for that? Mono or thread? Are there live bait restrictions on the Niagra?
  19. My wife and I don't have kids yet, but we do have a dog and a digital camera. Murphy will be two years old this weekend. He's a Lab/ Retriever cross. First day home 8 weeks New years eve, he only made it to about 10pm.
  20. I had a great time with Wayne and Glen. I think I'll be seeing that big one in my dreams for days...if only it was a vegetarian. Here are some of the shots I took: Heading out Rods ready I can't believe how quiet the engine was.
  21. Just having some fun The ice will be frozen soon enough. ;-)
  22. Thanks, I didn't' know I had that channel. I think Bell needs to tweak things a bit so that their costumers know what "new" channels they/we have.
  23. Nice shots... but just to be a smart ass I'll add my own shot... Kevin said "you can see the ice is still frozen" Ice is always frozen. Sorry, it was just sittin' there.
  24. There was lots of fog here in Barrie this morning and it reminded me of a canoe trip in Algonquin Park from a few Thanksgivings ago. My buddy and I each brought our own canoes, as it turned out I never would have got these great pictures of Chris paddling through the fog if we had gone tandem. The fog started to lift... And the sun came out... Oh ya I also use one the photos from the trip as my avatar.
  25. A true turnover only happens in lakes that are deep enough to develop a true tremocline. So another option would be to fish lakes that are less then 20 or so feet deep. It's been a little while since the limnology courses but... Water is densest at almost 4 degree C (39-40 degrees F). The surface temp of the lake needs to be close to 4 C before there is any mixing of the strata that formed during the summer. The surface temp of the lake won't get to 4 C until the average daily air temp is consistently below 4 C. Wind also factors into the equation as well.
