  1. That was going to be my line. I wonder how much we've outbid each other on items???
  2. Not sure if this is the right spot or not, but I thought I'd let everybody know about it. Great fun for the whole family. www.orillia.com Perch festival is down the left hand side.
  3. In-fisherman magazine has an article about fluorocarbon lines in the April/May issue (the article doesn't appear to be on the web yet). They talk about a test that was done in a lab and they talk about the benefits of Fluoro. Fluoro is fluoro; Mono is mono; superbraid is superbraid etc. They all have pros and they all have cons. The challenge is to to apply them appropriately for a given situation and conditions.
  4. Those channels aren't available on Canadian satellites, grey market ones are another matter. I did read an article in todays Globe and Mail that said that there are discussions about allowing HBO and ESPN into the Canadian market. If that happens it may only be a matter of more time until ESPN2 and others follow.
  5. A flash light may not be necessary at all, depending on how far north and how long.
  6. A gentlemen never tells. I haven't yet.
  7. So it's C&R in the section of the river that the township of Essa thinks it can charge the public to access/fish public water? I'm all for C&R areas or seasons, providing it's based on science. I haven't and won't fish the Essa township section since the tax came in, so I guess I didn't notice the change in the new regs. I'll be sure to pass the info along.
  8. Have I been reading the regs wrong? I'm not familiar with a catch and release section on the Notty?
  9. Perfect. I know how to handle a boat and have taken navigation courses (long before the Op card though). I don't have much trailering experience. I'll get my card and be at the launch just when everybody else is trying to use it. Don't worry you'll know it's me. I'll have the keys locked in the truck and the boat on the trailer, but the trailer will not be connected to the truck. Wave, say hello, and be thankful that I'm a safe boat operator.
  10. Mono still has a place in fishing, and is fine for alround causal fishing. As mentioned line twist needs to be managed. I also wonder if the line/reel is being stored properly? Sunlight and heat (think car in summer) can do a number on line in a hurry. Even well looked after quality mono has a limited lifespan as well.
  11. As someone who still hasn't taken the test for some of the same reasons mentioned above, I have a question; Does the test cover any aspects of trailering?
  12. It seams like yesterday you were heading down for the winter. Welcome back, we've kept some ice around to remind you why you left. Safe drive.
  13. Untie the front of canoe, untie back of canoe... Oh, you mean... never mind.
  14. I'm ready to go icefis... what em I saying!!!
  15. Article from today's paper. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/sto...ry=lake+ontario
  16. Nice fish, I bet it almost didn't fit through the hole.
  17. With just one rod and reel, I'd say go medium spinning and maybe have 2 spools of line. 6lb and 10lb or 8lb and 12lb line depending on his confidence with the set-up and the type of fishing/fish available. My experience with the the Territories was that if there was fish in a particular area they'd hit just about anything. Standard stuff would be spoons and spinners small to large and a handful of jigs.
  18. Sounds like there may be a bit of a run on sunglasses at Costco over the next couple of days. Good thing I need a 100 rolls of paper towels and 20lbs of rice as well.
  19. Tie 'em? I can barely zip mine sometimes. Very nice.
  20. Ditto on the different tints for different conditions.
  21. For me all sunglasses are disposable. A broken, lost or swimming $20 pair hurts a lot less than an expensive pair. At the lower price point you can keep a pair in your boat, in your vest, tackle box, car, truck, wife's car, girlfriend's car. etc. etc.
  22. As with most things on the net. Double check the "experts". Huntsville is in region 15 Brook Trout and lake trout: Jan 1- Sept 30 Brown trout and rainbow trout: All year Check the exceptions ie Algonquin park and the like. Hope this link works http://www.mnr.gov.on.ca/MNR/pubs/fishing/...y/Zone%2015.pdf
  23. You're supposed to hold it closer to the camera. Nice job. Now just keep 'em comin'.
  24. I'm heading down to do some shoppin' either tomorrow or Thursday. Leaving in the morning and need to be back in Barrie early afternoon. I live in Barrie and have a couple of empty seats.
