  1. Ya, I know, we're all tied for first right now. I'm a Leafs fan, I take what I can get.
  2. Careful that doesn't look like a rubber net.
  3. The water temperature is the key. At that time of year in that location they should still be shallow. Fifty degrees Fahrenheit is their preferred temp. So from ice-out until the surface temps start to approach 50 they can be trolled, cast to or still fished with-out any special equipment. The challenge is finding them. Good luck.
  4. I've got a big trip, ie once in a lifetime, coming up and I want my camera to be at its best. It's a Pentax DSLR. I want to clean the CCD, Henry's web site says it costs $100. What are my options?
  5. Charlton Heston dead at 84. http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/obit_heston
  6. Neat site, something else for me to waste time surfing. Thanks.
  7. I just go to the source. It is always the fishes fault. I've never been in the wrong spot at the wrong time with the wrong presentation. Yep, it's always the fishes fault.
  8. The favourite fishing snack thread brought this up. I've heard it, don't get it though. Why do some anglers consider bananas bad luck?
  9. Men are respectable only as they respect. Ralph Waldo Emerson
  10. I'm watching a 1979 Stanly Cup play-off game between the Leafs and the Canadians on ESPN classics Canada. It's just gone to over-time. I really think the Leafs a chance in this one.
  11. Ya, the $20 pail is the small one. The other size I've seen is twice as big for $30-$40 depending on where it is. CT has the small pails as would most quality tackle stores. I haven't seen the small pails for any less then about $19.99. The small zip bags might be a better choice as someone experiments with the different types of gulp baits.
  12. I've used quite a few gulp products and like them. As I understand it the pails are meant to be used to "re-charge" the bait after some use. The stuff in the the zip-top bags is not supposed to be put back in the bag after use. I plan on getting a pail or two before walleye season.
  13. Lots of work and obstacles, as well as very understanding parents. Rod building is something I hope to try sometime, I think I'll stick to shorter rods however. Thanks for taking the time to post.
  14. Once it's gone you can't bring it back. Really makes you appreciate the structures in the other parts of the world that are truly old.
  15. They're not pretty enough and many of us are snobs.
  16. Did you eat any of the fish that you caught in Oz? Just wondering if the "bass" shaped fish taste similar to our bass? You mentioned surf fishing, were they all out of salt water?
  17. You can become the Payne Stewart of the board. You'll just need to replace the orange hoody. ??? When did I become a fashion critic???
  18. Nice fish, great photos. Crappy about the wallet.
  19. And not one picture of a pickerel??? You'll fit in fine here. Great job on the photos. I don't target pike much on Simcoe, but guys get them all along the shore in Barrie.
  20. Lake Nippising is the only place I have caught them. Typically it's when we're fishing for walleye in the spring/ early summer. I can't remember a time when we've got them on a minnow, it's either worm/jig, worm/crawler harness or jig/grub. That might also say something about which presentations we use in the areas that the drum are in at that time of year on Nippissing. One year it was the guy using a blue crawler harness that was the only one catching 'em, another year it was orange. Most other years though, colour didn't seem to make as much of a difference. For what that's worth? That's for someone else to decide. Lots of fun on the walleye gear.
  21. Yes, there are laws regarding what can be done in and around streams. The Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority NVCA and the MNR are where you should start. There is a local steelheaders association as well. Not all stream clean-up is "good" for the stream or the wildlife associated with it however.
