I was listening to a radio talk show last week about the refugee crisis and those complaining that Canada isn't doing her fair share. The host said Canada has one half of one percent of the worlds population yet we accept 10% of the worlds refugees. No idea if those numbers are correct but if they are I'd say we're most certainly doing our fair share.

Sorry Rick but I have to agree with the others on this one. No way could I ever imagine purposely letting my dogs loose knowing their gonna tangle with a pack of wolves. Maybe their tough dogs and can handle themselves but I hate to think what can happen if the wolves get the upper hand.

You should be very proud of your accomplishment Dave, that's very impressive work, specially considering you've basically done it all yourself.

Nobody said it was easy and it does take time to figure out large bodies of water, but the fish are there and huge ones too. Maybe get yourself a guide to show you the ropes and help you figure a pattern. As for Lower Buck, or any of the Kawarthas for that matter, the muskies are a dime a dozen and generally very easy to catch with multiple fish daily a regular occurance.

If your seriously fishing for GB muskies and only seeing 1 or 2 in a lifetime your doing it wrong.

I was on Katchawanooka for 36 years and never heard of any fishing charters there, specially big boats.

I just got back last Saturday after 2 weeks at Memquisit and if it's your 1st time at the lodge your gonna be very happy you chose the place. Nice cabins and Frank & Charlene are as good as they come and will go out of their way to make your stay a very enjoyable one. Cabbage weeds have grown alot since we were up that way in June and although they aren't as thick as usual, their still in good shape. Water levels are down from normal so be very careful where you go if your not familiar with the area cause those rocks will jump out and grab ya. Franks got some decent maps to give you an idea of the safer routes to travel. This is the 1st year in quite awhile I didn't come across any big muskies up there, infact nothing over 45" so no pictures were taken and no fishing report was made. Enjoy your trip.

Pretty sure it says right in the regs that the flashlight has to float but I may be wrong.

The whistle goes on your life jacket incase you fall out of the boat in the dark or you break down and want to get someones attention. The 50' rope is to toss to someone who falls out of your boat.

After I made my post Dave I went to CAF website to see if I could find the B25 I was talking about and saw where they'd changed their name. Sad thing if it indeed was Political Correctness.

Great pictures Craig, must have been quite a ride in that old girl. Curious about the shark faces on the engines though, was that a standard thing for a certain Lancaster squadron or is it just for show now. I know the Flying Tigers had that design on their planes in China.

I got out of the Navy in '67 and while waiting to go on the Fire Dept I had a few months to kill and got a job working for a private hanger at Toronto Airport. We had a B-25 stored in our hanger that was sold to an outfit in Texas called the Confederate Air Force. They'd buy up old military planes and refurbish them to original condition. I often sat in the cockpit of that old plane and wonder what it was like to be in something like that while being attacked from all sides by enemy planes.

Those Lancasters are absolutely impressive to see flying low overhead. When I lived in Toronto we'd see them circling the city every year for the Airshow. I may be wrong but I think I read there's only 2 left in the world still able to fly. My Mom's brother was a bomber pilot during the war and was killed along with his whole crew when they went down. When I was in the Navy a lifetime ago we used to work with the Bonaventure a lot and I could spend all day watching the planes take off and land from her deck.

I see Hercules aircraft flying over the house several times a week, presumably on a milk run from Trenton and every now and then their very low and it's always an impressive sight. Got this picture a couple days back while he was circling low over Clear Lake in the Kawarthas several times and then headed down towards Peterboro. I'm guessing it was something to do with Simcoe Day but who knows. Here's a couple pictures I took 2 years ago of another Herc over my house again. Maybe nobody else finds this stuff interesting, but I sure do

I'm with Kelly's propane in the Kawarthas and they also print out an itemized bill when their finished filling the tank. Good company and good folks working there, infact half the homes on this road deal with them too. No complaints from me as far as propane goes.
