Just when I need some fresh live bait Clive
-
I use 13o pound Seaguar fluoro leaders on my musky rods and it's an excellent product and I have no complaints with it, and now I'm looking at the 10.5 pound Seaguar for leaders on my pickeral set-ups but have never heard anything about the lighter strength line and wondered if anyone has tried it and what you thought of it ??
-
Never fished for sailfish before but it must be a blast to have something like that yankin on the end of your line and going 7 for 9 is a pretty impressive score. Good to hear you guys enjoyed your vacation so much and thanks for the pics !!
-
Good to see your still grabbing the bigguns even without the boat Glen.
-
That's just plain lousy Terry, sure hope it all works out for ya. Makes you sick doesn't it, when you can't leave anything around without some punk helping themselves to it ??

I hafta admit I had a pretty good chuckle this morning when I opened this thread and saw where it was going with the keep or release musky discussion. I've been a member of this board for 6 or 7 years now and long ago lost track of how many times this exact same discussion/debate/argument has taken place, and everytime it pops up again, it's nearly word for word the same as the last one, with the only difference being the players who participate. Pretty soon it'll start getting nasty and the name calling will begin, then the mods will have to lock down one more thread in a looooooooooooong list lately. Musky season will open in a couple months and a new member of this board will post a picture of a musky he kept and then the whole discussion/debate/argument will take place once again, and once again it'll lead to an argument and will again need to be locked up. Kinda sad really, but still good for a chuckle every few months.......

Well, we finally got thru the winter, but it sure doesn't look or feel like springtime outside yet with a foot of snow on the ground and cold weather hanging around, but what the heck, if the calander says it's springtime that's good enuff for me

Hey Jason, I've been off the computer for a few days and just found out now you've finally decided to join this board and it's really good to see you here !! We've got a great group of people here and you'll enjoy it. There's some very impressive fish in those pictures you've posted, so I think your gonna fit right in around here. Good chatting with you last weekend too.
-
Jason, really nice to meet up with you too, and I'm ALWAYS smiling in a tackle store It'd be good to hook up with you this year, we'll plan on that fer sure.
-
Hey Roger, good seeing you again yesterday bud and thanks again for the coffee.
-
Everyone in my family owned Johnsons all the way back into the 50's and I don't recall anyone ever having a bad one....... sorta like an old Chevy, they just never quit
-
Hey Shawn, it was good to ALMOST talk to you again, but it's kinda dangerous having a conversation between cars going down the road at 70 MPH I tried to talk to Mark Kulik myself, but he was busy, but I did meet up with David Chong and had a nice chat with him for awhile, then met Basskicker and talked to him for awhile longer, and then ran into my old pal Roger BPS BASSMAN, so we went and had a coffee for 1/2 an hour and it was then time to head home. Sheeeesh, it was like an OFC g2g there today.....great stuff !!!!!!! I didn't need anything at all and just went for a drive, but still ended up spending $40 hahaha

I buy 99% of my musky gear at JB's Mike, and you'll never find a better place to purchase any of your fishing stuff from. Great guys to deal with and about the best selection of musky gear you'll find anywhere in Ontario, both for tackle and lures, but also rods & reels !!
-
I'm actually just leaving in a few minutes for BPS, I don't really need anything just but feel like going for a drive. You'll get some deals at BPS but you can also spend ALOT more on some items too. I purchased a reel from JB's recentely for $375, while the exact same reel at BPS is $530, so just be aware of what other places are charging for stuff.
-
Yup, you could definetely say it was worth it, 20 nice fish in 4 hours is very impressive in any mans book.....great stuff !!
-
Thanks for the offer Jeff, very generous of you but it's already been shipped out. I'm saving $70 off the top so a bit of duty won't be too bad
-
Yup, I'm only 10 years from 50 Brian, cept it's on the wrong side
-
Thanks for the offer Gerritt, but it's coming by U.S. mail so there shouldn't be any brokerage fees, and I believe the duty is all I need to pay, 'cept for taxes.
-
Another great read as usual Glen !! I always look forward to, and enjoy reading your fish'n tales, but your stories about the antics at the boat ramp are even better and worth waiting for......thanks for the laffs Hopefully the motor problems aren't too serious for you either !!
-
Thanks Wayne, it's made "offshore" as they say, and the company only ships via USPS, so I spose there won't be any hidden surprises........jeeeeez, I hate those surprises
-
I'm ordering an item from the States, but the company doesn't know what the duty charges will cost me and I was wondering if anyone would have a rough estimate. The item is about 28 pounds with a value of $150 + taxes and is being shipped by USPS and the shipping charge is $15 I don't expect the duty will be too much but I hate surprises....any thoughts ??
-
Best of luck Bill, but why on earth did you take your puter on a fishin trip ??

Is Fluorocarbon leader worth the premium price?
lew replied to tschirk's topic in General Discussion
I made the switch to fluoro leaders 3 or 4 years back after Mr. JR gave me a couple to try, mainly because it was costing me a small fortune for the wire leaders I was using. I always used the Stringease leaders and they're a real quality product, but would often get kinked after scrapping with a musky, and once that happened I wouldn't use them again. Trouble was, they're about $6 each and if you have a good day on the water and land several fish, it could cost more $$$$ for leaders than gas for the boat. I now use the 130 pound Seaguar fluoro and make my own leaders with quality hardware, and you can land many many fish before they need to be replaced. The initial outlay for the fluoro seems expensive at about $55 for 50' plus the cost of the hardware, but in the longrun I know for a fact I've saved alot of money. -
Happy B-Day young feller, and all the best to ya !!!!
