Thanks for the info Peter, impressive doesn't even begin to describe that plane. Last time I flew commercially , it was on an Air Canada Viscount back in the 60's, and I'm pretty sure it would fit inside the washroom of that 777

Beautiful stuff TJ, you can't beat a weekend in the bush on a snowmobile !!

Jerry, your getting lotsa good advice here to prevent backlashes, but it's possible everyone is looking at the wrong end of your cast. The knob adjustment on the handle side of your reel that everyone is talking about is to stop your spool from spinning once your bait has hit the water and everybody is correct in their suggestions, but a backlash often starts at the BEGINNING of your cast when the spool spins very fast and is basically trying to catch up to your bait when it leaves your rod tip, and that side adjustment won't do anything to alleviate that problem. Many reels have adjustments to prevent the spool from spinning too fast when your 1st throw your bait and it's found somwhere on the opposite side of your reel. Some reels will have a magnetic adjustment to slow the spool initially, and other models will have plastic brakes that will do the same thing. Those will be found inside the end cap of your reel if it's equipped with them. There'll be about 6 small plastic pieces that can be adjusted in & out to vary the speed of your spool, but you'll just have to experiment with them until you find the setting that works best for you. Bait casters are extremely easy to use, but unfortunately too many folks get intimidated by them and think they're far more difficult to use than they really are. Just think of them as another tool in your tool box, experiment with it and before long you'll be backlash free and you'll then be able to get back to enjoying fishing without worrying what your reel is about to do

Buddy & I were walking up to a hotdog cart for lunch one day when I spotted a $5 bill laying on the ground right in front of the cart. I picked it up with full intention of giving it back to the lady who owned the cart, but as soon as she saw me grab it, she practically screamed at me to give back HER money I asked how she knew it was hers and not dropped by the last customer and again she screamed at me to return HER money. She never got the cash, and buddy & I both got free hot dogs at the next cart with our newly found loot. Somehow they tasted much better that day. Karma goes both ways. -
Peter, is the plane in your avatar the type you fly for Air Canada ?? That beast is massive !!

Curious as to where you got that info Rich ??...I use big spinnerbaits consistentely from the 1st day of the season with a lot of success and they continue to put fish in the boat right thru the year. Early season musky are extremely active, specially in shallow water, and nothing pulls them outta the sand & pencil reeds better than a large, fast running spinnerbait. It's very common to grab 3 or 4 fish like that in only a couple hours in June. Give it a try, you may be very happy you did

Really great pictures !!!!

That was definetely a nice fish Wayne and hopefully she ends up on your wall.

I like the large spinnerbaits Darren, and have alot of luck with the #950 Grim Reapers , specially if I want to get down deep into the weeds, and find the bigger baits have more thump, plus the larger profile makes the bait more visible to the fish. Those big spinnerbaits also make an excellent trolling bait too. I've actually started getting away from bucktails in the last couple years and spend more time with large spinerbaits and boo-tails now.

I'll be at both those places Keith and pretty well the same time as you too. We'll be at Quinte from May 16 - 19. The campground we stay in is at Dorland, just a little ways south of the old Hay Bay church. I'll be at Lakair from about June 19 till somewhere around the 25th or so.

We did the exact same thing back in '64 when I was in the Navy, Huey. We spent several days south of Trinidad seaching for a broken down fishing boat that had been drifting with 3 men aboard and no food or water. They left from a small island with no radio so nobody even really knew where they were headed and only reported them missing when they hadn't returned home by the next day. It was rough weather the entire time with seas running about 15-20 feet so that made the search that much more difficult, but eventually we found them and returned them to their island. By the time we finally found them, they'd been adrift for 4 days in the blazing tropical sun and were all in pretty rough shape. The memories of helping to save those boyz is something I'll always remember very vividly.

I was also considering a stainless prop for my 90 Merc at one time but was told by several folks in the know that on motors under about 150 HP there wouldn't really be any noticible difference and not to waste my money on them. Just a thought...

Yup, that was definetely a good read Huey, thanks, and best of luck to your pooch today.
