Thanks for that old link Gerritt, I just took a quick look but it's gonna make for some great reading. Lotsa good memories there and brings back many of great guys that we no longer have posting here. Crudd's name was one of the 1st I came across and I've often wondered whatever became of him. I remember he came to the very 1st ice fishing G2G we ever had a few years back and then he sorta disappeared after that.

I think you know my story Roy, but until about 7 years ago I'd never touched a computer in my life and knew absolutely nothing about them. We had one in the house that my wife used but until then I'd never had any interest in it. I was recentely retired and somebody said I should log onto some fishing sites for something to do in the off-season and my wife explained how to work this contraption. I found my way to Izumi's site and while reading it I came across something called a link, so I clicked on that not knowing what it was and somehow ended up here. I knew nothing about message boards, infact didn't even know what they were, but I started reading this one and I still remember the 1st post I read was Muskystudd talkin about PowerPro....thanks Chris.... .... I'd had some interest in PP so I contined to read and eventually figured out how to log on and the rest is history as they say. Hard to believe I've been hanging around here all these years ......and I still know nuthin about computers

It was your 1st time trying it and you boated 3 fish ??........yes, I'd say it went very well indeed Congrats on a great day !!

Bill, there's a small town about 10 miles south of camp on hwy 64 and you should find a bank machine there without any problem.

Sure hope things turn out better than it sounds Glen, Ike's turning out to be a monster sized storm from the looks of it.

Marty's brother Tony has one similar to that in your picture Rich and I hafta tell ya, it's one impressive boat but unfortunately I can't remember the make or specs on it but it was a big boat with I think a 150 Yamaha and that thing flies, probably well in excess of 50 MPH I never had the opportunity to actually fish from it, but we fished alongside them for a day on the French a few years back and it was very windy and rough on the way back to Dokis but it never slowed them down at all. Smaller models may be a hassle but you shouldn't have any problems with the bigger ones.

hmmmm, I guess you obviously know him better than me Mike, but from 1st impressions I thought he was a straight up guy. .....perhaps we'll let this die right here. ...........Sorry this got off track Kemper

Looking forward to following your progress on this rod Kemper. I spent a couple days in Guelph about 4 years ago and came across an excellent little tackle shop called Hook Line & Sinker where I spent several hours just gabbing with the owner......his name was Ray if I remember correctly. He's got some great stuff in there and even if your not buying anything it's a nice place to visit and I'm pretty sure he had quite a bit of river fishing gear that you'd be interested in. This could even be the shop your talking about, but if not, go have a look when you get some spare time. It's at 380 Emerosa Road in a small plaza called Bullfrog Plaza or something similar...519-766-4665

Well done boyz, a nice successful fish'n trip !!

Great stuff JohnnyB, you & Pat outta be giving fish'n lessons with days like that
-
If your gonna be spending as much time fishin after dark as I do, you'll have to be sure you've got plenty of spare batteries for your headlamp.......one of the most important tools in your fish'n box.

Nuthin wrong with that TG, you can learn alot about life when your tired, bloody and dirty at the end of the day, infact it's something you can't learn from a book. I think it's a lesson too many folks never learn and it's a shame when they don't

I've always thought that everyone should have at least one great "adventure" in their lives before they settle down to a job, mortgage, and raising families, cause once you get into that position it's often difficult to find the time or $$$$ to do it until later in life. Myself, I knew from an early age that I was gonna spend my life as a fireman in Toronto, but I also wanted that big "adventure" before settling down so I followed in my Dad's footsteps and went into the Navy for a few years first where I saw and did places and things that I would probably never have the opportunity to afterwards. I say take some time off now and become a guide on whichever coast you want, or take 2 years and spend time on both sides of the country, then come back and get whatever education you need for whatever it is that you want to do with the rest of your life and I think you'll be far better off for it. Too many folks come outta school and straight into the work force, then get locked into something for the rest of their lives without ever fullfilling their wanderlust and often regret it. Go guiding and live in the bush for a couple years and you'll have tales of adventure to tell your kids and grandkids for many year to come. As Joey indicated, there's far more to learn in this world than what you'll get from a book or classroom

I always bring firewood to Lakair but use it for the early mornings. No better way to start the day than a 4 A.M. bonfire with a pot of coffee brewing on the Coleman and listening to the birds & critters waking up. See youz all up there next week.

WTG Shawn, some real real nice fish there.

So very very sorry to hear that news Paul, your uncle was a nice guy and I enjoyed chatting with him at Lakair this year. Perhaps we could re-name the pike award as the Terry Hunt trophy in honor of him. Condolances to your entire family

Annual Stoney Lake trip "with the Boyz"
lew replied to Fishn Technishn's topic in General Discussion
I only wish I was on the West Arm chasing the BIG ones right now FT, but unfortunately that doesn't happen for another 8 days yet.....can't wait I can't offer anything 1st hand on Stoney as I haven't even been up there myself yet this year. Twice I've had a trip planned and both times it was cancelled due to severe lightning storms. For the most part though, the other lakes in the area are in excellent shape this year with good water quality and excellent healthy green weed growth and I would imagine Stoney will be equally as good. The musky fishing has been excellent all year with many fish boated and my most productive baits have been white Sledges over top of heavy cabbage and yellow/black Double "D"s in deeper water along the edges so you may want to give them a try in your spots too. There's usually some good weed patches all around the islands near Hell's Gate and that could be a great place for you to start. Wish I could offer more info but without being there this year I'm only guessing it'll be as good as the other lakes in the region. Best of luck Bud and let us know how you make out -
As always Moose, that was an absolutely fantastic read, infact probably your best fish'n report yet and thanks for taking the time to put that all together for us. What means do you have up there for contacting emergency medical help in-case you need it in a hurry for injury or illness that you can't take care of yourself, specially when your alone on one of your adventures ?? Do you have reliable cell phone use, satellite phone, 2 way radio's ??

Ahhh jeez, that's lousy news. We just got in from celebrating my wifes birthday and I checked my email and found the message from David and was just about to post it here. Gary was without doubt one of the nicest people we've ever had on OFC and I've considered him a good friend for a very long time. We've exchanged many PM's and emails over the years and have talked on the phone many times with alot of our discussions being about his beloved dog Amy and my dog Marvin. His specialty around here was outboard motor propellers and he's helped out many many OFC members with their propeller problems. Gary will be sadly missed by those of us that knew him well and to those of you who never had the pleasure of knowing him, you missed out on a wonderful person. Rest in peace my friend and my very deepest condolances to your loved ones.

Howdy folks, I've been pretty much absent from the board since mid July but have been keeping this trip in mind. I've already had 2 great trips to Lakair so far this season but definetely want to get at least one more trip in, but I've got some family matters that I need to take care of 1st. If everything pans out the way I'm expecting I should be in fer sure. I can't set a specific date yet but maybe something like the 16th - 22nd I know where a couple chunky slimers hang out and I figure they've maybe added a pound or 3 since we last met up
