  1. If you can stay just outside of the landing zone of those big Bulldogs there's the odd decent fish swimming around. LOL
  2. Good stuff Dan, and always nice to see a young fella get his 1st nice fish.
  3. Thanks Andrew, never stayed there myself but the park is always loaded with trailers the public beach is very popular and is jammed on a nice summer day
  4. Were your folks in the actual Lakefield Campground down by the dam & locks ? We were on the west side of Katchawanooka about 5 minutes south of Youngs Point. Still a beautiful area all through here.
  5. We had a trailer in a little park near Lakefield (north of Peterboro)for 36 years and enjoyed every minute of it. Made plenty of lifelong friends and great memories to last forever. I now live only a few minutes from there.
  6. Not disagreeing with you but if you buy the proper full windshield boat you can have more front deck space than lots of single console boats and the windshield won't interfere with your casting either. I could dance on the front deck of my last boat with all the room it had. Nothing like a bass boat of course but the protection from the elements made up for it....at least in my opinion.
  7. I've had them all, tiller, side console and full windshield and they all have good and bad points depending on what your doing. Tillers are nice, as long as they have a flat floor, as that makes moving around the boat easy with no obstructions but they offer no protection from lousy wet days. I had a Crestliner 1650 SC for a long time and the side console was nice as it gave the driver protection from the elements when running around the lake on nasty days but does nothing for the passenger(s). You do have to work around the console but I never found that to be an issue and the bigger the boat the less hassle it will be. You don't mention full windshield boats so I assume you don't want one but they sure are nice, especially with a fully enclosed top that protects everyone when the weathers is cold and wet and the cold fall winds are howling. As I said above they all have good points and bad, you just have to pick whet works best for your style of fishing.
  8. Wish I had one now, infact a convertible, it was always one of my favorites. ....Sorry for the hijack 😁
  9. I'm another one that used the Mitchell 300's back in the day. Sorta like an old Chevy, nothing fancy but pretty darned reliable.
  10. Been about 3 years now since I quit fishing but I still miss those big hit's
  11. Was a fun afternoon for sure Bob and good seeing you & the Mrs. again.
  12. At the very least he should lose that boat permanently, morons like that don't deserve any mercy and it's only by pure luck he didn't kill one of those innocent fishermen just out trying to enjoy the day.
  13. Sounds to me like the wee man has a great Dad who's taking the time to teach him the good stuff !
  14. Atta Boy to your nephew bud !!
  15. Thanks Dan, the garage is definitely a nice place to hang out.
  16. Nope, not since I sold it LOL
  17. Who doesn't love this time of year !! Just took these a few minutes ago.
  18. Yeah, we used to have some fun camping/fishing trips Phil, I miss them too.
  19. Years ago I took my bud's young son (14 ??) out casting for muskies up on Nip and although he was an excellent fisherman he'd never netted a bigger musky. I made a cast and hooked this girl and jokingly told my young friend that if he messed up the net job he'd be swimming back to camp. I knew he was nervous and he even said he was afraid he'd lose it on me but he did and excellent job and got her in the boat but I'm sure I heard him let out a sigh of relief LOL
  20. It happened so fast I never even saw the fish but my partner did & said it was a goodun.
  21. A dozen years ago a musky tore this Believer apart and spit the pieces back at me. I emailed this picture to Drifter Tackle and within a couple days they sent me 2 new lures as replacements with a letter of apology for the bad lure. Good companies look after their customers, maybe try the same thing with Rapala.
  22. Welcome back, I remember your name from back in the day and congrats on beating the bad stuff. Some nice fish there, that 1st. 50 inch musky is the hardest to get then they get easier after that, just keep plugging away.
  23. Have you checked Elim Lodge on the east side Pigeon Lake John, I just looked at their website and it says they've got 3 sites available but I don't know how current it is. It's only a couple miles from Cody too LOL https://elimlodge.com/
