  1. I sure will bud, it's a place I never pass without at least a few casts.
  2. Get your fish'n pole rigged up Kevin, I'll see you in a couple weeks
  3. ***Unions said this was a fragment of the more than 1,000 notices sent Thursday to Fisheries and Canadian Coast Guard employees about imminent layoffs.*** Too bad that governments alway lay off everybody 'cept politicians.
  4. They were talking about these fires on the TV this morning and saying there's some fire crews coming in today from BC to help out. These fires are a very common occurance in the north but it's always tragic when they take out homes and peoples livelihoods. Good luck to everyone involved.
  5. We just use a small flatscreen Skip and even with the old rabbit ears we could pick up a couple channels but as I said, it's only for the odd time when the weather gets miserable outside.
  6. Thanks Billy, I've been trying to get into Google this morning but couldn't get it to open. It's good now and I found what I needed to know.
  7. I now have the info I need.
  8. We rent cabins for a few weeks up north every year and usually take a small TV with us for rainy evenings. We have always taken a portable "rabbit ears" type of antenna that just clips onto the back of the TV but seeing as that type of signal is no longer available I was wondering if there's any type of portable antenna that is now available to pick up the digital signal ??
  9. And they were about as sensitive as a shovel too Paul
  10. Good to hear you got the problem solved Roger.
  11. Looking forward to spending time with you & Patsy again Rich. See you guys in a couple weeks.
  12. Well, we've had a change in plans and my wife and I have decided to go up for a week in June and will be there June 16-23 and we'll be in cabin W-1 right by the boat ramp. It just wouldn't seem like June if I didn't spend time at Lakair
  13. Bucktails are excellent all year long, clip one on and go have a blast.
  14. Thanks Randy, sounds like maybe an excellent season coming up.
  15. He's turning out to be a great little pup there Brian and you guys are gonna be buds for a long time to come. They never grow up Joey. Marvin's going on 16 and he wears me out every day just trying to keep up with him
  16. Early in the season I like pencil reeds, sand and shallow water. And yes, smaller baits are often the ticket in the springtime. My most productive day ever was opening day, 2001 when I hit the water at 7:30 a.m. and got the 1st fish of the season on the 1st cast of the season and by 10:00 a.m. I'd boated 9 muskies. All fish came from the reeds and none were caught in more than 4 FOW Some days a plan just comes together.
  17. Your absolutely right Gerry. I'm smack dab in the middle of a whole bunch of fantastic lakes here, yet I like to travel to big fish waters regularily and it's only about 4 hours east to the Ottawa and St. Lawrence Rivers, west to LSC and north to my favorite place in the world, the West Arm of Nip Life is good
  18. Thanks boyzs !!
  19. Can someone please tell me when musky opens on the West Arm of Nipissing. I'm thinking the 4th Saturday in June but my old brain is getting foggy ??
  20. Actually, no they weren't as good back then, infact I learned to fish in the 50's with a square shafted steel rod that was heavy and had the same action as a tree stump. And we only had very basic baitcast reels cause spinning reels weren't around yet and the line we used could have doubled to tie up battleships. Biggest change though is we only fished with ONE rod, and we fished for ALL species with it and did VERY well with those old dinosaurs. Fishing has almost gotten too technical these days where guys need a different rod for every technique. Fishing is still enjoyable...but it's different now.
  21. You know me Pete, I would have settled on the West Arm of Nipissing but Diane wanted the K-Lakes region and a happy wife makes a happy life. But it's not too bad here either
  22. Marvin has always hated the the loud bangs of fireworks too Joey and would hide under the bed, but his hearing is pretty well gone now. We were out on the front porch Saturday night watching some fireworks down the road and he never even flinched.
  23. That's what it's all about right there Bruce.
  24. Not sure how they'd work with dual exhausts Rick. My truck is an F-150 and I've got the flaps set up so they stick out about 4" past each wheel and that leaves about 16" either side of the hitch. If your pipes are close to the center it'd work but if their more to the outside it could be a problem I spose.
  25. Their at least 1/4" and very sturdy and I doubt if flapping in the wind will be a concern with these. Their 24 x 24 and easily cut to the proper length. Here's a link to them in Cabellas http://www.cabelas.com/product/Auto-ATV/Auto-Exterior/Mudflaps-Tire-Chains%7C/pc/104796180/c/104696280/sc/104460480/Rock-Tamer-Mud-Flaps/716361.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Fauto-atv-auto-exterior-mudflaps-tire-chains%2F_%2FN-1100779%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_104460480%3FWTz_l%3DUnknown%253Bcat104696280&WTz_l=Unknown%3Bcat104696280%3Bcat104460480
