Do you have any pencil reeds up your way yet ? After about 45 years of chasing muskies one pattern that always worked for me this time of year was casting spinnerbaits into pencil reed beds and cranking them back out but more times than not the fish would hit as soon as the bait hit the water. Best times for me were just before sunrise and then head back out at sunset. As the sun is rising over the horizon and then again as it's dipping below it really turn the fish on and multiple fish in a short period of time is very common. Pencil reeds grow in shallow water with a sandy bottom and that combo attracts the fish early season.....at least in my experience

My wife and I have been going to Mashkinonje a couple times a year for the last 6 or so years. It was just sold and we haven't met the new owners yet but we're heading there in 2 weeks. The cabins are nice and the previous owner put in all new docks and they also have gas there too. I never fished in that area myself but rather boated out to the West Bay but I'm sure others can help you with that. You'll enjoy your stay there and the area is beautiful too. I feel very old some days knowing that I'm one of the few remaining humans who actually watched the Leaf's win the Stanley Cup so many years ago. LOL

Pretty sure the fella that owns the camp can give you a mini test so your legally licensed to operate his boats while your there....but I may be wrong.

Some serious horsepower there for sure.

I sure do miss that place.

Pike aren't fussy, they'll hit anything that moves, even baits as big as themselves LOL

Real nice set-up & you'll love that Yamaha. Fun times ahead !!

Be careful out there Geoff, a lady I know was killed a month ago riding her motorcycle when she hit a pickup while going around a curve.

Best of luck Glen, hopefully just a mild case.

If they catch the punk(s) that ruined those boats he (they) should be forced to replace every single one with new ones but with the way our justice system works nothing other than the old wrist slap will be dealt them.

Really sad that we have to share this world with the type of scum that would intentionally ruin someone's property for no reason.

For years my brother always had a 14' tinny & then 20 odd years ago I bought a Crestliner with a side console. He used to fish with me all the time and one cold rainy day down at Quinte we were running down the lake and I was warm & dry behind the windshield while he looked like a drowned duck. He looked over at me and asked "why the heck didn't you buy a boat with a windshield for me too and I said "because you didn't offer to pay for 1/2 the new boat" He didn't laff but I thought it was hilarious LOL 😁

Pretty scary when you know someone is looking at your place and thinking of actually stealing wood. I needed 107 pieces, mostly 12' long and they were $22 each so I spose that's pretty enticing to some people although a big pile of wood isn't exactly easy to run off with.

Glen, I hear you on having guests over, it's been far too long for sure. Norm, great deal on having the cost of the ramp covered and it looks great too. LostAnotherOne, the price of lumber has gone thru the roof but sometimes we just have to bite the proverbial bullet and get on with it LOL

We've got a deck that runs the full 50' across the back of the house and although the frame is still in excellent condition the floor was showing it's age so I decided it was time to spruce it up. I pulled all the old boards off and replaced them all with new pressure treated and it turned out really nice. I'll leave it alone for the summer then seal it all. The brown pressure treated boards look much nicer then the green ones we used to get. Biggest job now is cutting up all the old boards & hauling them to the dump.

Awesome job Shane, your good for another 28 years !!

Even on large musky baits a screwdriver was all I ever used.

Seeing as this post is 14 years old the OP probably doesn't require the info anymore LOL

I think Ford said yesterday there wouldn't be any further changed to the current restrictions and everything stays as is for now. -
Could I ask for a photoshop favor please.

Thanks for the photoshop WB, that's exactly what I was looking for, it's just to give me an idea, which it does. And Brian, it's a FORD so it doesn't need nitros to make it a rocket LOL -
