  1. Yeah, it makes life easier for both the fish and the fisherman.
  2. I've been using the Frabil Big Game for quite a few years now and have always liked the handle and frame better than the Beckman or Stowmaster as to me it just seems much stronger. But, I've never liked the Big Game bag as I find the larger holes do more damage to the tail and fins of the musky, plus I never liked the way the bag tapers down to practically a point and forces the fish to be twisted around too much. To me, Beckman "pen" bags are far superior with the straight sides and flat bottom and it just seems much friendlier to the fish with her being able to stretch out a bit more while she's recovering after being unhooked. The smaller mesh openings also do far less damage to the tail. Last year I decided to have the best of both worlds and called Rollie & Helens in the States and ordered a Beckman pen and put it on my Frabil frame. I've had some big fish in this new concoction and it works really well and is far better for the fish...in my opinion. Here's the old Frabil bag and you can see how it tapers to a point And here's the new Beckman "pen" and you can see how it's more of a square box than a point and how it'll be better for the fish while she's recuperating. It's also easier to remove the hooks with her laying flat rather than her head being stuck down in the tapered point of the Big Game.
  3. I think some of you guys require waaaay too much gear to outsmart a critter with the brain capacity of a potted plant
  4. I've been wearing the same pair of H2Optics for 7 or 8 years now and their still in great shape. Never could understand why folks pay big money for things and don't look after them.
  5. It's interesting, but when that plane crashed and they gave his name over the radio, Shane Antaya, it always stuck with me, and even now whenever I hear about the Snowbirds, I remember that pilots name.
  6. One just sold awhile back Dave, I'll let you know if another comes up for sale
  7. I get lotsa deer in my backyard every day during the winter but never in the summer months, so I was surprised to see this guy this morning. I watched him rooting around in some bushes for about 10 minutes and couldn't figure out what he was doing until suddenly a black cat came flying out. Don't know if he was playing with the cat or just inquisitive, but it was pretty comical to watch. A young buck with 8" antlers. You can just make out the cat to the left of center. No idea why the pictures are fuzzy though, maybe cause it was still fairly dark when they we're taken ??
  8. Excellent shots Joey !! We went to the air show for years but haven't been back for probably 35 years now.
  9. Well done Shawn, she's a beaut !!
  10. Outstanding MIke, always good when a plan comes together.
  11. If your gonna start musky fish'n, you may as well start with a 56" brute like that, congrats on getting her, she's a true trophy !!
  12. Your turn will come Brian.....in a couple decades
  13. Being retired, every day is a looong weekend
  14. We used to have a member on this board who camped on the islands of Lower Buckhorn north of Peterboro on a regular basis. As far as I know he was never hassled but that was 8 or 9 years ago and I have no idea how things are today.
  15. Was watching the Today Show this morning and their saying that on average, gas has gone up about 4 cents per GALLON in the States in the last couple days. Wonder why ours went up about 17 cents per LITRE over night. Good to know though that our government tells us everything is on the up & up in Canada.
  16. Sounds like some interesting work out there in the Gulf.
  17. All the best Paul, have a great day !!
  18. We've got 5 Samsung LCD's Dave and they've all been excellent for the 3 1/2 years we've had them without a single hiccup so far. If I was to buy another TV tomorrow, it'd be another Samsung LCD.
  19. Yup, me too, both great places.
  20. Most of my musky baits are basic off the shelf stuff, but I often tweek them to suit various needs. Some I'll add weights to, others I remove rattles, on some 3 treble twitch baits I'll remove the center hook and upsize the front hook and often if a color doesn't produce, I'll repaint it.
  21. Seems like some parks don't want anything over 10 years of age. As I suggested above, just check with the owners of the park your interested in and be sure that trailer will be OK there for a few years. A friend of mine has been in a park for alot of years but his trailer is now 11 years old and he had to remove it from the park.
  22. I've caught an awful lot of night time muskies over alot of years and in my experience the vast majority hit right at boatside as your starting a figure 8. Not many things in fishing get the heart pounding more than a big ole musky hammering your bait right under your nose on total darkness
  23. If your pictures aren't already in magazines, they definitely should be, you've got alot of really impressive shots there. You've also got an amazing attitude towards your health issues and I'm sure your an inspiration to many.
  24. Alot of the trailer parks no longer allow older trailers on site, infact some parks are forcing those with older units out, so be sure of the regs in the parks before you buy or commit to anything.
