  1. Thanks Lew. He has a true passion for the sport and as I have stated before, he know more about the sport at his age than I did at twice his age. He regularly out fishes me and I am perfectly alright with it. It has always amazed me watching him help less experienced (and typically much older) fishermen choose tackle. As as side note, he was the first "shopper" to enter the Vaughan Bass Pro store when it opened 7 years ago. I can remember it like it was just yesterday, standing in the dang cold for four hours and watching a then 10 year-old bolt through the cut ribbon, through the front doors............ Tony
  2. Thanks Paul. I just hope he doesn't spend more than he earns.
  3. Thanks. I was wondering the same thing for the location in Vaughan with Bass Pro literally just up the road. Never hurts to have competition.
  4. Hey all. I'm sure by now everyone knows Sail is coming to Oshawa and Vaughan soon. Just thought I'd share some good news with you as my son (fishman2202) has landed a part-time job with the new Sail store opening in December of this year. This is a "dream" job of sorts for him, as he has always talked of working for Bass pro's fishing department. Well I guess this is the next best thing for him. I'm proud of his persistence with the Human Resources team at Sail and am sure he will do well in his new position as sales associate. He has always offered free advise to others while shopping, now he'll get paid for it! Cheers!
  5. Hey Mike. My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family. I've been there myself and know the feeling of helplessness. I hope you can enjoy many more fishing trips with your dad.

    RIP Jack

Very sad indeed. Though I didn't believe in his party, he was in my opinion a very good leader with a great work ethic. He will most certainly be missed by all Canadians.
  7. Hey Brian, I think you should change the topic heading to "How old are you" Ya, I remember that tragic event 34 years ago. Seems like just yesterday though.
  8. For the record, the motor was not in gear. I didn't have a ton of room to pull freely on the pontoon but found it near impossible with a short rope to get it past the initial compression. I am going to try this again in the next couple of week-ends to see if there is any other way to do this. I thought I may have been missing something like a magic "de-compressing" button.
  9. I had the rope around the flywheel. There was no way I could get past the compression............
  10. Amazing isnt it. We have so many with in a few blocks of one another, we can walk from line-up to line-up. I wish I knew what they put in their darn coffee..............
  11. So I had some family up for the week-end and decided to take the pontoon out for a boot in the canal out to Simcoe. As I went to start the engine but the battery was dead. I realized that some-one had left the fish finder on which had drain the battery. My son pulled our other boat around and we manged to boost it for a start. Everything seemed fine cruising down the canal for 10 minutes or so. As I hit the lake, I tried to trim the engine down and I lost power and the engine stopped. I tried to start it but it was dead again??? Stumped I remembered that the engine came with a pull cord. I tried to pull it (as per instructions) but there was noway no how this engine was going to start. Being that we we very close to shore, my son volunteered to jump in, swim to shore and walk home to get the other boat. Well, we enjoyed the weather for about an hour until he came and boosted us again. We made it back to the dock safe. Now, is it just me or is manually starting a newer 50 Hp Suzuki (or equivalent) possible? Am I missing something? Also, you would think after 10-15 minutes of running, I would have enough juice to power trim. For the record, I did check the connections and they all seem clean and tight. Any thoughts? Thanks.
  12. Hey Billy Bob, congrats on the new pup you will be getting. She's definitly a cutie! As you will see from my avitar, I have an 11 month old choclate lab pup myself. We named him Toby. My kids have re-named him "Trouble". He's an energetic little guy who's now my best fishing buddy (my son will have something to say about that) They are great dogs if trained properly. I"m still working on that! Oh, I like the suggestion of Cocoa as well. Tundra and Remington are a little more masculine but if those are your two choices, go with Remmy. Cheers.
  13. We owned a 4 Hp Yamaha 4 stroke. I found it to vibrate quite a bit compared to some larger (9.9 Hp) engines I have used. I don't know if it was a common problem or isolated to my particular 4 Hp but wasn't impressed with the vibration levels. The engine overall was excellent. Very fuel efficient and quiet compared to 2 strokers. No problems starting it either. Hope that helps.
  14. Glad to see you finally got that boat going. Rockey's a great guy. He has helped me out a few times in the past.
  15. Anybody else thinking of ice fishing??? I remember not long ago that everyone was complaining it was too cold. I guess we need something to complain about I must say it is hot and I am heading for the cottage tomorrow afternoon. I think I'll head out early Saturday morning before it gets real hot for some smallie action.
  16. You should check out Jose's listing in the classified section. He usually has a great selection for 5.00/bag and is a great guy to deal with. I personally do not like the wacky rigs. I find the action just isnt the same. I know I go through a lot of Senkos but I feel its woth the sacrifice if I'm catching fish.
  17. My thoughts exactly. Seems like they are never happy. They seem all too happy to spend our money. The problem with choosing either phone is cost of data. They want to use the phone for everything but voice calls and the monthly bills keep going up. I know I'm going to age myself; however, I grew up just fine without a cell phone. We just kept a couple of extra dimes in our pocket to call home! Oh, by the way, I am fishman2202's dad and I am paying the phone bill...........
  18. Hey Wayne. My thoughts and prayers are with Jen and the rest of your family. May god continue to give you all the strength to pull though this.
  19. Interesting topic. Mine is part of my business name (motiontech). We are a service company in the GTA working with pumps, fan and motors in the HVAC industry.
  20. Nice going Jacques! Thanks, as always, for sharing.
  21. Ah, Sparrow Lake. Still one of my favorite lakes. Good going on the nice pike. Cheers.
  22. Selling extra stuff you get at a great deal is fine. I realize some guys are also sponsored and sell of some of their "extra" stuff. I just hate it when they lie to you. Telling you that they only used it a couple of times and now need to sell off extra gear when in fact, they have never used it. Why lie? Be honest and some of us may be more inclined to buy it. I have run into guys selling their own used boats but they are just a small time boat "dealer', buying and selling boats that may have come from the U.S. Just my $0.02 worth.
  23. Thanks for posting that Art. I was about to place a similar link to bust that myth as well. I guess if enough people say it, then it must be true............
  24. X2 on the chanrging them fully in the fall only I dont put them back in the boat. A top up charge every couple of months on the batteries stored in my garage works wonders. Just my $.02..........
