  1. We used to camp/fish there often. Nice park for camping with good bass fishing in the summer months. Can't leave you boat docked overnight (well there are only 2 temporary docks)There is a boat rental as well. Not much to do this time of year though.
  2. Darn, I wish my little guy was that small again. Well 17 years later, my "little guy" out fishes me most days. Enjoy them while they are small because they grow up way too fast! Cheers.
  3. Hey Colin. Welcome to Canada and more specifically to Vaughan. Being a fellow resident, I can tell you that there many good lakes within a couple of hours drive or less offering a wide variety of species. There is good action in both the soft water and hard water seasons on Lake Simcoe which is less than an hour from you. Shoot me a PM if you want more details. Tony
  4. Picked up the Nautilus charger at CTC last night. Looks like a sweet unit and can't wait to install it. I am happy that I wont have to lug the batteries out of the boat now that I have an electrical outlet close enough to charge them on board. Thanks for all your help guys and an extra special one out to Dave for your advice (and links)
  5. Thanks Paul I will. They do make good fishing buddies. Not like my wife
  6. Hope see has a lot of time on her hands. LOL. Great dog BUT they are like children, they cant be left alone for very long. My little guy's middle name is "trouble" We love him though.
  7. As a few of you may know by my past posts, I have an eight month old lab named Toby. He had a little trouble and ended up in the hospital for a digestive issue. Well, he is back on the mend and is a happy pup again. With the nice day on Saturday, it was time to launch the boat for the season and time to get Toby on the boat. He had a great time watches the floats and barking at the perch. He even decided to go for his first swim (thus the reason for the leash). Hope it’s the first of many more trips. Here are a few shots of him. Thanks for reading .
  8. Dave, I would also assume you leave the two TM batteries hooked up together (24 volts) while charging?? I dont need any other switches. Is that correct?
  9. Understand your point Wayne, however, would it not make sense if I had to buy an on board charger that a 3-bank would keep the cranking battery topped up durind extended periods of time when I am not using the boat? My starting battery is only a could of years old.
  10. Hey guys, I need some help choosing an on board battery charger. I have a boat with a 12 volt starting battery and 2-12volt batteries for the trolling motor. Any advice on type and size would be appreciated. I only know of the ones Bass Pro carries but I am a little confused on what I should get and how you hook them up properly. I believe I would need a 3-bank charger??? Any ideas on where to buy them reasonably? I am live in Vaughan with my boat up near Orillia. Thank you in advance
  11. Thanks for all the kind words and encougement. Toby had a better day today with tons of puppy energy and no vomitting. Hopefully keeping him away from the crap in the yard may help speed up his recovery. Other than the shaved area on his leg and a few pounds lighter, he is starting to look like he used to.
  12. Ya, I know I was ripped off, but what do you do when you have a sick little guy in your arms? They prey on your emotions.
  13. The barium test alone cost me $800.00 and my daughter had to put up 75% on her Visa before they would even take him. They were talking $4000.00 if he needed surgery. I think they prey on our emotions.
  14. Ya, I tried that first last week. He tossed that up too. Porr little guy. I felt so helpless at the time. He's on a special gastro intestinal low fat food for now. He seems to like it and is holding it down for now.
  15. Ya, I know what you mean. My wife was going on about the cost and what she could have bought with the money we spent He's my everthing right now. With me all day, everyday. Spends the days right beside me in my office. They just dont understand. He's doing better today as he threw up agin yesterday. Just hope he holds down his food for now.
  16. As you can tell from my avatar and from some of my previous posts, I have a 7-1/2 month old chocolate lab named Toby. Last week he started vomiting daily. It got to the point that I ended up at an emergency clinic. Any of you who have been through this, you will understand that initially cost is not an issue. When they told me that he may need surgery, I had knots in my stomach. Knowing labs, they are notorious for eating anything and everything. Well, after a very expensive barium test (including x-rays, they found no blockage). i was relieved to hear this. I really didn't want my little having to go through major surgery. He ended up having to be put on an IV and they also found an ear infection. Other than that, he was OK. We think it may be something he is eating when he's out in the yard playing. Well, almost $2000.00 later, he seems to be on the road to recovery. I now know why I should have taken out pet insurance! Any of you had the same experience at an emergency clinic? Cheers.
  17. So sad to hear that. Always enjoyed his very informative posts. He will be missed by many. My condolences to his family.
  18. Dan, I am so sorry for your loss. Cherish the memories.
  19. Hey Terry, thanks buddy. You just cost me an extra 300 bones. I came out of Radioworld with my new HDS7. I figured if I ever wanted to add the structure scan, I would be kicking myself for not getting the bigger unit. Now we just have to wait for mothr nature to deal with the last bit of ice in the water.......... Thanks for your help guys!
  20. Too bad the don't make the 520 series any longer. I like my 520C as well.
  21. ]Is the HDS5 a good improvement on the 520C?.....yes Is the HDS7 worth the extra money for less than 2" of screen? ......yes and the the more things you use on the screen , the bigger the screen you want...you split it for the GPS and fishfinder , then if you add down scan/side scan.... the hds 5 screen is just too small for that..if you just use the fishfinder screen most of the time then the 5 is great and the Thanks. Dang, Terry. I missed a great deal at the Sportsman Show. Radioworld had the HDS7 for $899.00 plus Lowrance had the mail in rebate for another $100 off. Now back to $999.00. The HDS5 is 300.00 less but around 1-1/2 smaller. That works out to $200.00/inch more
  22. Hey guys. I just bought a new pontoon for the cottage. Its a 21' c/w a fishing package (two pedestal seats and live well) The boat will be mainly for friends and family outings. The marina is willing to install a fish finder for me (that I will supply). My dilemma is this. I have a fishing boat I use at the cottage (for serious fishing LOL)that has a Lowrance 520C at the helm and which I bought and moved my X102 to the bow. I also own an Lowrance H2O handheld that I used for the hard water season. I use one Hotmaps chip to go between the boat and the hand held. Since I need to buy a new fish finder, I was thinking of getting the HDS5 to install on the fishing boat and moving the 520C to the new pontoon. Is the HDS5 a good improvement on the 520C? Is the HDS7 worth the extra money for less than 2" of screen? Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  23. Ditto for me. I found one on ebay for $80.00. Used it with my hotmaps from the boat unit and worked it on the ice all season. Love it!
