  1. IUnfortunately I dont have the money or the room to store them both. I think my wife would boot me out if I showed up with both. LOL.
  2. Thanks for all your input guys. I am thinking of just using it around Simcoe and I am not into trail riding so I though it might be a waste with a sled for just a few months of use. I figured that a quad might give me the option of using it the rest of the year. I am just unsure of the ability to go through the snow with just a 2 wheel drive system. I was told that as long as I am not planning on plowing with it I should be fine.
  3. I spoke to a friend of mine and he said that a 2 wheel drive quad pulls him and his hut out no problem. The quad might cost me a bit more. I am looking at a 1986 Moto 4 for about 1200.00.
  4. Guys, I'm sure this has been analyzed to death bud I need some help trying to decide what to buy for some week-end ice fishing out on Lake Simcoe (mainly Perch). I have been looking at a sled and also some quads to haul me and my son. If given and option what would you buy/use?
  5. Thanks tinbanger, sounds like good fun. I may give it a try.
  6. Hi all. I was thinking of taking a trip up to Simcoe Saturday with my boy for a day of perch fishing. I was out last year with Yellow Huts but I cant get a hold of them this year. Does anybody know if they are gone? Can anyone suggest a good hut operator in Cooks Bay (reasonable rates)? How has the perch fishing been? Thanks in advance for your help.
  7. I will never forget it......he won't let me. He keeps reminding me of the day he "caught one bigger than dad's" The nice thing about the fish he caught in the pics posted, is that he picked a spot on the lake, picked his bait and nailed them all by himself. Makes me proud to be a dad.
  8. Thanks. We are already talking of heading out thereagain this week-end.
  9. You've got that right, Dave is his hero. Mercer is great with the kids. He sent my boy that shirt last year and he wears it everytime we go fishing.
  10. Thanks guys he sure had a blast. Funny, he knows more about fishing now then I did at twice his age! At the very least I know he is not out somewhere looking for ways to get into trouble.
  11. Well it was a great day to be out on the lake yesterday. The day satrted off nice and cool and warmed up nicely. The fishing was about the same, as it warmed up the fish were biting. My son showed me up by out numbering me and pulled out the two biggest fish of the day (large mouth and samllie). Sparrow continues to be my 12 year old's favorite lake producing his first ever "big" fish a few years ago and now his biggest fish a five pounder plus. I'll never forget when he caught his first bass as he kept yelling, "it's a bass, it's a bass". Memmories for sure!!
  12. Just call Lauderdales and they tell me that the tournament is on Sunday. Looks like we are good to go tomorrow.
  13. Thanks for the heads up. I have been caught like that before. Show up early and find the area full of boats looking to launch for a tourny. I may opt to try somewhere else. Lots of good lakes around. What tournament is it?
  14. Hi guys. I am planning a trip out to Sparrow Lake tomorrow with my son. We have a boat and need to launch it preferably in the south end of the lake. Does anybody know a reasonable launch. (I have a 17.5ft boat ). I have used Lauderdales in the past but I find the $20.00 a bit steep. Thanks in advance. Hope to post some pics when I get back.
  15. Yikes!!!!! Sounds like Simcoe's Cooks bay (my second choice) is a better deal. Don't know if I can take the dead carp "soup" in Scugog.
  16. Hi guys. I am planning a trip with my son out to Scugog this weekend. I have fished the lake years ago with not much sucess. We have a boat and I would love to see my son hook into one of the famed muskies on the lake. Any tips that would help make this trip an enjoyable one? Thanks to all in advance.

  18. Thanks for the advise. I'll keep my head up!
  19. Hi guys. Looking to head out tomorrow morning (Saturday) with my 12 year old son for some perch fishing. We would like to enter the Orillia Perch Festival and were planning on stopping in at Trombly's first. We have a boat and would launch it near Orillia. Any tips on getting some action would be greatly appriciated. Thanks and good luck to all you trout lovers this week-end.
  20. I agree John. I used to pay 50.00/month just a few years ago. They now want 150.00/month for out-door storage. I have one month left before the rates sky-rocket. At that rate it makes we think about selling my boat.......but that aint going to happen!!!!
  21. Thanks for the warm welcome. Hope I get some direction....my son is itching to get out there.
  22. Hi guys. Just wondering if I could get some help finding a reasonable place to store my 18 ft boat/trailer. I live in the city and have my boat stored in a storage facility near Rutherford and hyw# 400. I have had it there for the last few years. Problem is they sold to new owners and the rent just doubled. My son and I fish the waters of Simcoe, Couch, Bass Lake, and Sparrow. We often camp out at Bass Lake for some weedend fun. Any sugggestions on where I can store my boat. It would be nice to find a place near hyw #400 on our way up north. Thanks in advance.
