  1. Thanks limeyangler. In do have it the manual mode set in sonar settings. I have not tested it since I have changed the tranducer setting. As I said, I'm off tomorow morning to play with it again. i'll let you know how I make out and if the unit behaves for me. Cheers.
  2. Thanks for the info guys. I'm going out Friday to try a few more things. Hope I can get it to work (and maybe a couple of whities as well!!)
  3. Vince, sounds like your boss was looking for an excuse to fire you. If he had you leave yesterday without notice, make sure you get termination pay. Your are entitled to one week for every full year of employment. So if I understand you correctly, he owes you 3 weeks pay plus any unpaid vacation pay and hours worked. he he gives you a hard time, contact the labour board. Good luck!!
  4. Thanks mjack. Do you change anything up on the 522 to make it work. I cant seem to get mine to respond properly. What do you have the transducer set to? Cheers.
  5. Thanks Ben. Thats what I have been told but I cant seem to get it right. I guess I'll keep trying. Looking to head out Friday and try again. I'm also going to throw the X102 on the kit to see how that behaves.
  6. Hi Guys. I am having an issue with my Lowrance 522C that I use on my boat in the summer and have the ice kit for the hard water season. I cant seem to get the unit to work properly. I have tried everything from playing with the sensitivity, downloading the latest software from Lowrance, setting it to Iceview, playing with ping and chart speed etc. My buddy has an X67C that works great. I have fished with him in my hut and have tried both units in the same hole (powering up one at a time). There is no comparison. The X67C wins hands down. It shows better movement of the jig and action on the bottom (tried 35 FOW to 100 FOW). I went to Radioworld, where I originally bought the 522C, yesterday and we made one change to the transducer setting from generic to the specific 20 degree ice ducer. I don't know if that will make a huge difference (I'm hoping it will). I was told by a few people that the 522C is supposed to be a better unit than the X67C. Its more powerful, has a larger colour screen, etc. I don't see that (yet). I also have a X102 from my boat that I was going to set up for ice for my son to use but I am undecided if I spend the 210.00 for an ice kit or the 350.00 for an X67C. Any thoughts? Thank-you in advance.
  7. Seems this topic comes up often. The 1 lbs can be filled (and over filled if you are not careful!!) by freezing the empties for an hour before filling. The 20 lb propane tank must be at room temperature, if possible, as well. I weigh my tanks as I am filling them (checking them a few times while filling. The tanks should contain 16 oz of propane. The empties weigh 16 oz so your final gross weight should not exceed 32 oz. Check for leaks after filling and store the propane tank and the one pounders outside after filling. Hope this helps.
  8. Gimme a break Baldy You want us to call you to come hook up our Christmas lights too! Will I need a ESA permit for that too? The vacuums dont need a manual starter as they come with internal overload protection. Nice job Icefisherman. Looks good to me. Better than most installations I have seen. Cheers.
  9. Nice piece. I remember when our parents bought us "safe" toys like lawn darts. Now that was a safe game. Wouldn't be able to do that now. And what ever happened to "real" wrestling on Saturday night? There was none of this WWF, WWE, IWF..............
  10. Funny thing, I had the same thing happen to me yesterday for the first time. Found that the ice was built up on the bottom preventing the blades from catching. Knocked off the excess ice with a plastic scoop and off I went drilling again. The ice seem to build up quicker when we put the auger on the snow right after we pulled it out of the hole. Make sure the end of your auger is clear of ice and snow.
  11. My buddy made one as well. I just figured they probably aren't worth much and would pick one up for this weekend.
  12. Hey walleyejack, thats classy of you to publicly apologize. Jos is a great guy and is always helpful. I drove the 1.5 hrs out to Woodstock last week with my son and came back with a ton of ice fishing gear. As always, Jos took the time to explain how to properly use the gear.
  13. Hi guys. I was out with a buddy last week ice fishing and I used one of his Mr. Jiggers. Awesome little gadget. Any of you guys use them? Any idea of where I can get one near the GTA? Thanks.
  14. Thrasher, I have the same Helly Hanson Alpha suit and love the suit for the warmth and all the pockets but I find it a tad bulky and heavy. My son has the Mustang and its much lighter and less bulky. Might just be me getting old.LOL
  15. We have a place on Couch and love fishing it all summer/fall. Some of the best fishing is in September. Get yourself a good map to avoid shoals. Great smallie action to be had all around the lake.
  16. Nicely done. I have two myself (quite a few years older though). They make my life worth living........... Cheers.
  17. Bonding with my kids. I cant think of a better way to get away from the city and the wife!!!
  18. I guess at 9 lbs 4 oz. he's a keeper!! Congrats on your new future fishing partner. Cheers.
  19. Wayne, you can overfill them without a pump. The instructions on filling call for you to "freeze" the empties. I use a cheap digital food scale (from Walmart) to weigh bottles while filling. I fill them to 29.5 oz (total gross weight).
  20. Way overkill in my opinion. I use a Mr. Buddy which has a 4000-9000 BTU output. I heat my 4-6 man hut in minus 20 no problem. Most of the time its on low. The tank top unit you bought is better suited for a small garage. The only downside of the smaller heater is that it uses the one pound tanks. You have to buy the tank adapter or re-fill the little guys like I do. Hope this helps.
  21. Any word on current ice conditions for Lefroy/Gilfordarea? Looking to head up there this weekend if it's safe. Thanks.
  22. Awesome!! Thanks Wayne, I'll look for something like that myself. Cheers.
  23. Well worth the wait. It'll be longer than that on Ebay.
  24. Got it from a board member last year (used). I don't see them listed on the Shappell website this year. The 2-3 man size will be good (tight) for two anglers and your gear. My hut will let 4 guys (tight) fish with all our gear. I tow mine behind my ATV as it has pop-up skis. You may want to search for a used one.
